for a grade school teacher to be in contact with his/her class while climbing Everest? The educational possibilities for everyone are huge. I aslo think, however, that more effort should have been put into improving meatspace infrastructure in Nepal, or getting rid of those pesky rebels.
Controlling human behavior is the biggest ethical/practical biomedical issue I see today, but it's been ignored in the media at large. Drugs are banned for a reason folks (though the/. crowd may not agree) - they make society crumble.
Now if only I could find a compelling reason to own a PDA. I've been trying to think of an excuse, but the thing is, Post-it notes work fine for me. I gues I just have no life.
'How the web was won', a book on MS by an author I can't remember. Contrary to/. belief, MS seems to be populated by smary visionaries. The problem is that these books seem to carry the prejudices of their authors. Try reading that webwon book and World War 3.0 and compare the authors' views on MS. Everyone is biased to some extent. Total objectivity is a myth.
People already pay for the priviledge of sporting corporate logos. The days of human billboards are already here. I wish I had something funny to say about this, but it's just sad, folks.
That hideous thing barely fits in my living room! Not that it lives there, of course - my trusty GC sits next to the TV.
XBox as a media hub? That's MS's stated goal. And they're being thwomped by everyone worldwide (although they compete with Nintendo in the US and Europe, they're outsold by PS1 in Japan).
And it is more boring than my hometown, Canton OH. This article gets the basic business facts right, but it neglects the massive operations companies like GE and Intel are running/starting. Many companies are doing their work inhouse at low cost here.
Does this game's developer have a track record like Nintendo's or Rare's of delaying games (until they're perfect - good) for years? IF so, then I wouldn't bet on seeing the game soon, no matter what the developer says. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.
Nintendo announces an upgraded GBA, and all you slashbots do is complain about the old ones (some of the most successful game appliances developed). Some people have 20/20 hindsight. Oh well, here are some more links:

Very funny how some people took this seriously.
Score: -1 Anti-Global Warming
try to remember we're just coming out of a frickin' ice age. The earth's temperature fluctuates, and not necessarily because of humans.

"You'll see a shift from Microsoft to preaching the benefits [of its software], not the theological arguments"
What the hell? Do we need analysts to tell us ideology has no value in business?

In Canton, Ohio we've had 10-digit dialing for 2-2.5 years now.
when that excess iron enters the food chain? People talk about GM crops, but things like this are where the danger lies.

Could somebody just modify a virus scanner to detect spam? I think when a virus scaner looks for virus behavior, the problem is the same.
Can anyone summarize this technology with its advantages, disadvantages and impact?
Anyone know of efforts to stop spammers by pestering them with nuisance suits that they have to defend? Could work, at least until they move abroad.
Or we could just burn them for fuel.
640K should be enough for anybody.

In related news, the GNN news network was disrupted by a terrorist attack. A group known as 'Slashdot' has claimed responsibility.
Seriously, thoug, can anyone post a transcript for thoses of us with really slow internet connections?
Having learned all I know about racing from Mario Kart, I'm surprised they don't just carry some mushrooms and turtle shells.
