But why would lcd tvs not become more energy efficient at the same time? Beside that, you'd have at least a hunch (or a prototype) that the new technology is capable of becoming energy efficient and would spent research money to the most promising technology. And that is 'just' because it is one of the many boundaries of your playing field, besides cost, form factor, etc.

  13. Re:Not banning plasmas. on Efficiency Gains Could Prove Proposed Plasma Ban Shortsighted · · Score: 1

There is a direct and increasing incentive for consumers to buy lower energy use products. Therefore there is a direct incentive to reduce the energy use in these panels. Therefore the market is likely to either produce lower energy use plasmas, or LCDs or other similar technologies which have plasma-like quality.

Well, a lot of consumer behavior, when buying products, is determined by the initial price, not at all the price to operate a product. Therefore frankly I don't believe that you should leave this to the vendor, because they listen voluntarily to consumers and only to law if mandatory.

Nice article, good points. Fiddling with the different option to obtain the right combination can be fun (monkey island)
But a major way of improving gameplay would be to have multiple ways of solving the puzzles. For example the closed door, you could:
    -open it with a key
    -use a crowbar
-ask a NPC to open it
-open it from the other side
    etc.

It would make the decision tree more complex, but more fun. The game could adapt/react to your action, making it more replay-able. A simple example is Indiana Jones fate of atlantis.

My opinion is that there is a lot of ranting about nothing and /. is doing just fine. I briefed book reviews and idle, for instance. Of course, I would like to see more science stuff or something, but I'm just one here.

Could Taco enlighten us about the current status of the editorial independence of /.? That would greatly influence the debate as to which people to rant to: editors or management.

For such vaccins as MMR, it is well known what the side effects can be and when they occur. The problem with my child was that it was not well communicated.
We let him get his vaccine a bit earlier, because of a holiday to Morocco, but the fever started during travel, which is not a good situation to have fever. It ended with febrile seizure in Morocco and having no experience with or knowledge about it, it was frightening to the bone.

Am I against vaccines now? No. For the parents, their child matter, for the doctors the average statistic matter. Less children die, because of vaccines, only different ones.

Besides, getting one of the MMR diseases not-vaccined ends up with a nasty fever anyway.
