What game still runs well over dial-up? I have relatives who live out in the country, where an 0.05 Mbps v.90 connection is considered "high speed". And how would I talk everybody into buying a copy of the same game?

Heh, so if they're out in the country, it's cheaper in gas to have them drive in all the time for a night of Wii sports?

So what do I do when I want one advantage of consoles (games that don't need a separate machine, a separate monitor, and a separate copy of the game per player) and one advantage of PCs (game mods and indie games)?

Suck it up and buy both?

This is a specious argument though. Sure, you only need one copy of Super Smash Bros. But that means all your buddies have to come to your place to play. Where as the four people each with their own game can join in from where ever they are. Party games don't have to mean everyone in one place.

There's a time and place for everything.

Seriously though, the computer game vs console game argument is about as useful as MacOS vs Windows, Fedex vs UPS, and so on and so forth. Consoles have their advantages, as do computers.

And during the 1990s, Sealand fired upon a GB naval ship. I don't see GB having successfully invaded either. Just because a nation can be invaded by another, does not mean that nation isn't sovereign.

Following your statement: As such, the test of sovereignty is quite simple: can you fight off any attempt to deny your sovereignty ? If yes, you're sovereign; if not, you're not., there are two or three nations, tops, in the world. US, Russia and maybe China.

I'm an agnostic. When God (or whatever name he, she or it wishes to go by) comes down here and does something to prove his/her/its existence, then I'll believe in God. Until that point, or until I die, I'll simply acknowledge that God's existence is neither proven or disproven, but possible.

Chances are, the only time we'll find out for certain is when we die. We'll wake up in heaven, hell, purgatory or whatever realm the dead go to, or... we won't. At that point, what does it matter?

At least the "ego-driven" owner can shut up some of the noise, where as in usenet, what options do you have? In "ego-driven" boards, we see ads... in usenet, we see spam that has no equal and no way of killing it.

At least with Firefox, Adblock and Greasemonkey, I can use Google Groups and filter out the spam. Usenet is actually enjoyable, without the "make money fast" schemes and the MI5idiot.
