If he wants to game with the best games and best hardware for the task, he should get a pc, if he want's to video edit with the best software and hardware for video edting not to mention a more frindly computer for everyday use, he should get a mac. A cheapo 1.5ghz intel pc with a radeon 9200 can play all but the newest games. My advice is to think about what you primaraly want to do. And buy the best system for your primary purpose.
GOD DAMMIT STOP IT NOW.

So Mr. Dumb ass please leave slashdot now
I had a broken alarm clock and a broken Macintosh SE. Now I have a Macintosh Alarm clock. I cut a piece of Plexiglas to fit where the monitor was and the buttons just poke through the lower floppy drive whole. It looks great and I did not damage the original case.
If you hate Apple so much don't buy their products. I however see the value in their products and will continue to buy them.
I'm not sure I want to use Windows XP that long

I am in college and have two computers, I have a Powerbook and a PC workstation. (Yes it is a workstation Dual Xeon with ecc ram). I have never used the PC to browse the web. But I have to plug it into the network for my computer science classes. So far I have had about 4 virus infections. I have all of the current updates but Microsoft seems to be about 100 steps behind the virus writers. Do you really think people will put up with this for 3 more years? I'm sure they have grand plans of longhorn but can the really deliver a good product?
If you had a linux box with wine installed on it. "Even better one of those computers on an pci card."
Could you ssh to it and use you mac only to display what ever the linux box forwarded to x11?
I'm not really sure how wine works but it seems that with gigabit ethernet there would be sufficient bandwidth to run applications in real time on a remote computer.
Grease monkey can do stuff like this.
And no it can't be inverted becuase the picture on the page has the correct colors.
Fun way curl ftp://ftp.130th.net/pub/mirror/opera/win/800/en/ow 32enen800.exe > /dev/null
Set up a computer at home, and use it to download torrents remotely. Assuming the don't block SSH.

Ok here is my 2 cents.
Bochs is a free X86 emulator.
Wine needs an x86 processor to work with windows aps.
Why can someone take them and put them together?
Write a simple linux distro to forward everything to Apple's x11.
