One of my reasons for dropping a land line and going with a cell phone only was SBC. Dealing with them was just a pain in the @$$. Tha last straw was when I tried to transfer a phone line to a another person (I moved out and tried to leave phone number to roommate). Three months of calling and each time getting an answer that they will take care of it. We just gave up and I left the phone under my name and they paid it.
I have had less problems with my cell phone in four years than I did with SBC in one.
I have a Casio E100 which runs Windows CE 2.11 and have read dozens of books on it while riding the train to work. The software allow me to change the font type and size and the thumb wheel worked great for paging allowing me to use it in one hand. I have a leather case that flips open and makes for easy access and quick put away.
My new job has given me a Palm m505 which I tried to use for reading as well, but it just does not work well. The screen is smaller, lower res, and not as bright, and you need two hands to page. If you ever need to take notes the Pocket PC JOT is easier to use than Graffiti. But I have not tried the newer versions.
I would recommend looking for year or two old PocketPC that has good reviews on the screen. Then see if you can get one in your hand for fit and paging ease, remember you will do a lot of paging.
I too would put big part of the blame on the radio stations. They play so few new songs and many of them play the same junk that another station does. It seems as if they each pick 15-20 songs and those are played over and over for the week. Next week the change 1-2 and repeat again. I remember only a few years back when a number of stations would have a new song each day. People would call in if they liked it or not. Now some of those new songs died right there but you got more new music.
Here http://www.musiciansnetwork.com/mnet/indie44_sampl e.html they say that 38,000+ CDs were released in 2003, where are they? With that many a radio station could play new songs for 2 months straight with out repeating one. The music is there, the art is there we are just being feed 'product' to make money.
So I blame Clear Channel Communications Inc. and the music industry for their own problems.
Megapixel phones have been in Japan for over a year. All current US camera phones I have looked at require the pictures be emailed from the phone not a direct download. Meaning you have to pay extra for web access just to get the pictures out of the phone.
10) It is easier to add in random back doors yourself. 9) M$ wants you to use it so they can claim your work too. 8) It is crap code. 7) You don't want to have reboot even more. 6) ?
HDTV is still very new here are some major problems.
1) HDTV's are pricey when compared to a standard TV and most of them do not come with tuners in them. They are monitors only so you have to buy other components to use it.
2) Tivo does not have it yet http://www.tivo.com/5.3.1.1.asp?article=195
3) ReplayTV says they can out put to a HD ready TV but that is it.
Another choice is to build a standard TV DVR box. You could get away a lot cheaper by getting a tuner card that does MPEG2 encoding and cutting back on CPU, power supply, memory etc... Then later upgrade it with PC parts that today are good but in 2 years are someone?s junk.
Sample: 1.3ghz, MB, 256meg, costs less than $150 or get someone?s old desktop PC Tuner card: $50-150 depending on quality

Life must spread itself in order to survive, if all known life is limited to Earth, which is one small planet, it can be all killed in one little (little for the universe anyway) accident. Accidents both natural and man made, like an asteroid impact, new unstoppable disease, nuclear or biological war. Even a drastic climate change could kill 80% of all living things on the planet.
I believe life naturally advances to an intelligent level for its own survival. The world has been trying for a long time many times an asteroid set it back. We as humans really have only just come onto the seen, and only the past 10,000 years have we been really moving forward. The next few hundred years may pass as calmly as the last 10,000, but we have been lucky so far. If we are to survive we must leave Earth and this solar system.

I mean our lawyers and see if there is anything from the past 30 years we can use as a starting point. Do not worry if it is not good for us in the long term or the industry as a whole. WE are only worried about how much we can stuff in our pockets this year! Got it, now get to work!?
I agree! As soon as the tell everyone what code has be copied it will be ripped out and rewritten. Most likely in days at worst a few months. If that happens they are done for.
I too have held on to mine! No Text-To-Speech, but I have the rest of it. About 2 years ago I powered it up just to see and it still ran!

You guys need to upgrade into GHz range! $200 gets you new 2ghz AMD, 256 ram and new MB. Another $80 you have a GeForce4 level card!
Home 2.5ghz, 512, Radeon 9600 128
900mhz 512, GeForce4 64
Work 2.8ghz, 512, GeForce2 MX 32
Someone up the chain will(should) be held responsible. If they subcontract it out without the proper controls they should pay for it!
I firmly agree!
To stagnate is to die! Any civilization that has
stagnated has been left in the dust and over ran by others.
Lead, follow or get stepped on!
The real world!
