I just install winXP with my network card unplugged. When windows installs, turn on the XP firewall, that thing isnt letting anything through...do updates, turn off crappy (yet almost too highly effective) windows firewall.
Or just install it behind a router with only port 80 forwarded.
While this would work in terms of voltage, you have to remember that in 110v outlets we get double the amperage that 220v outlets do...so theoretically the amount of power (V*A) is the same.
Last year when I lived at UPenn's dorms, myself and 3 roommates had a suite. Each one of us had a refrigerator,tv, vcr, at least one computer (myself and another had an additional laptop), a console, a few lights, and the normal things such as alarm clocks, etc.
In addition, to share among ourselves we had a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and a george foreman grill.
To accomodate all those things, was not a problem, the amount of sockets was sufficient. However, since the fridges, computers, etc were always running....when we turned on the micowave we would ALWAYS blow a breaker.
Eventually we figured out what was goin on and we learned to turn off some stuff before cooking, but it only goes to show that they underestimate the power needs of the technologically advanced college society.
To me this looks like the DVD Region coding scheme.
You have different regions and each dvd is suitable only for that region. So what if another region (Region X) has a badass movie that you want to watch in region Y...of course , as with everything, there are ways around it..but its more of a pain in the ass than it is actually helpful to the market.
For once...I agree with intel...ESPECIALLY since this is an open source market when it comes to linux.
I would like to be able to say "yea that will be nice, they cant track you, share all you want", but unfortunately this is not the case.
Nothing against your post, I just dont want people having a false sense of security.
I think a lot of the appeal of hybrid cars has been lost (or never found in the first place..) due to their unsightly looks. Of all the hybrid or pure electric cars, how many of them would you WANT to drive? I noticed that the civic hybrid is pretty the only "normal" looking hybrid on the road, while a hummer (for example) has appeal.
In addition...and for the sake of equality, lets say that both a hummer and a hybrid cost 18k each.
Now, time for repairs....obviously repairing an engine is much cheaper than replacing sensitive electrical pieces....or replacing more parts in the motor because it has to be integrated with the gasoline portion...boy, I can only imagine a transmission bill on that.

Seems like /. has taken over another site. Wondering if anyone has a mirror to that .txt anywhere.
