My mom has Multiple Sclerosis, and while she has some trouble standing up from a sitting position, she can stand just fine. Walking for any amount of time is, however, quite difficult. She uses a scooter type thing right now, so she has no use for one of these, but if she didnt have the scooter, I can see this being useful, especially if she lived in the city. She had to get her van retrofitted at a cost of $10,000 (gov't helped) to accomodate the scooter, and the scooter itself cost something like $5000. Since she needs to get around in the middle of nowhere, this is nescissary for her, but if she were in a densly populated area, it might be just the ticket.
Parsec on the TI 99/4A defined leisure time when I was a kid. I also thought that was what this was. I spent hour upon hour with that damn TI. I'd still play it if my video out wasnt broken... in fact this brings back so many memories that i may buy a TI on Ebay just to play all my old roms.

Whats needed aren't more executive checks on the _representatives_, but more checks on the executive by the representatives, a la the original constitutional intent.

Just because the president has a line item veto, doesnt mean that he'll veto what he is "supposed" to. I wouldnt be surprised if the administration has congressmen tack on ammendments for them.
Is there any legitimate reason for the US's current process to ammend a bill. The way that anything can be added, related or not, seems like a poor way to go about things, can anyone think of a positive reason for this power?
Exactly! People on slashdot don't seem to recognize this very often. I spend all day programming drivers for embedded systems in assembly language, so I consider myself *very* technically compitent, however when it comes to the PC I work on, I just want it and my development apps to work. I dont want to have to debug my PC so that I can get to debugging my work.
I agree that the Xserve is a nice package, I am specifically questioning the benefit to buying it only for its hardware, then removing OSX to use Linux PPC.
Are there _any_ advantages to buying an Xserve, and loading up Linux PPC on it over just using a (cheaper) Intel-based solution. I honestly dont see what the point would be in buying the apple solution (and paying for OSX) if youre not going to use apple's software.
Youre right, cable companies tend to have much worse policies than DSL. However, DSL companies need to get with the times and realize that not everyone has a phone line, because some ofus use cell phones as our primary telephone. So unfortunately, this makes cable my only option.
