I would have to wholeheartedly disagree. Having two fullscreen windows speeds up my workflow very dramatically. Whether I'm coding from a design document, drawing in illustrator to export to flash, or designing a circuit with a datasheet, each case allows me to spend less time context switching and hunting for data. Sure you can do some of this on one monitor, but being able to full screen allows more panels, and more viewable work area.

Like any technology, the choice to use and the effects are personal. It is not, however, by design, inefficient.

The fact that they use this their position is an absolute travesty. For that reason I cannot trust this president. Any further declaration of important "fact" must be scrutinized.

For whatever reason, this same flight simulator (or one that borrowed the map)is the default loadout.

Earlier this year, just before a customer meeting, I found out that you could fly the thing using just the throttle and the yoke (I figured you needed extensive knowledge of the rest of the hundred some switches and dials). Initially only one person was watching me, but eventually a crowd had gathered by the time that I had gathered enough speed to hit the diamond head building. The crowd was conflicted between laughing (which they would have done openly, four years ago) and gaping in horror. Someone laughably mentioned that I should go to jail for my act.

They should seriously consider ripping off a couple of features from iTunes. I could not care less where I buy online music, but if it becomes too cumbersome to manage my playlists or tracks, I'll switch (which I did). Even if you don't have an iPod, if you have a windows PC I highly recommend iTunes for large music collections. (Oh, also, the audio compression codec is far far superior).

An opinion from the other side:

I absolutely love the $400 standalone units. They're smaller than a tiny computer (okay not a small form factor) and they don't need a keyboard or a monitor. You can move them around with your queue of cds to wherever. If you're watching a movie on the couch, or playing video games, or even copying at work, you can set up a mini-fab. They fit in your backpack so if you need to cycle/skateboard/public transport them, it's a snap.

I wouldn't lend a PC to a friend, but I have left my standalone duplicator at a friends house over the weekend (They were in a band making homemade EPs).

My recommendation is to get a standalone. Give the stacks of cds and blanks to a neighborhood kid and tell him when he comes back with the dupes, give him the cash. If you're really picky, throw in some QA and have another neighborhood kid check a few.

A caveat: Not all of the standalones burn at their full speed during the entire burn. I actually started getting a lot of errors on some of the audio CDs I was backing up (about 1/20 would have some noticable clicking noises), so I turned down the burn speed to 16x.

    My two cents.

My folks let my litter watch R rated pretty much as soon as we could fit it in the beta (yeah we went with betamax first). They also took us to see racy movies like Rocky Horror in the theater when we were wee. I wound up coming up with a much stronger set of codes and morals than most of my friends. I don't really think that "indecency" affects the youngins as long as you prepare them for it.

There are things that happen in movies that are descriptive of a despicable/vile act (but it's just a movie). Then there are things that happen in real life that are 1/10th as "vile" as what happens in the movie, but because they really happen, those have a higher chance of scarring/affecting someone. Sure, not everyone going through my same set of "starting conditions" would have come out the same, but they wouldn't have been doomed to a life of booze, knives, and semen-encrusted pants (whatever that means).

I think that it's good that you soon will be able to buy a product that can babysit your children for you. We buy so many other things that make our lives easier, and what better way to celebrate the specialization of labor.
