not only older finished products, but cancelled products that didn't make it to the world should be presented in Open Source.
i remember when certain games that i was looking forward to would get cancelled, if more companies released the source, at least there would still be a chance for it to be a finished product.
for example, EA's Motor City was a great game, now its closed the doors on the server, why can't they release the source code under the GNU and allow people to setup their own servers, or to re-program on offline mode. now my $60 product is useless and my Faith in EA is damaged. just because they can't use the soucre anymore, doesn't mean nobody else could.
I applaud Cat Mother's innovative ideals, the world would be a better place if more companies saw Open source the same way.
Thats whats missing in Modern Gaming Companies nowadays, no other company is willing to take a risk on anything to intruduce new and unique gameplay enhancements. even to their B titles, thats whay there are so many clones out there.
for example, Rockstar took a risk and introduced a whole new gameplay enviroment to the world and it took off, now what are we seeing? GTA Clone upon GTA Clone. Why is this happening? Profit, thats all, take a great idea and run with it and you'll make money, even if the game sucks
Companies like Square have always been inovators and i give them full props for going the extra mile.
Have you seen the screenshots for Gran Turismo 4? if GT3 was using 90% of the PS2's power like they said it was, then GT4 must be using 120% of the PS2's power, it just shouldn't be able to put out the graphics, but it does

as much as i like X-Box and GC, i have to give Sony props for pushing old hardware faster than thought possible, and before you say that Sony didn't make the game, your right, Polyphony Digital did, but Polyphony is closely linked to Sony.

Nintendo's problem is the fact that every game looks like it should be catering to 12 year olds. some of the funnest games on GC look like the type of thing that most grown Adults would avoid, who cares how fun it is if your friends are calling you gay because your playing Pikamin.
I am a closet GC fan, i don't need everyone to know that every once in a while i need a Super Monkey Ball Fix.
what Nintendo needs to do is put a more Adult face on these games without sacrificing gameplay. for example, if Super Monkey Ball became Pshyco Monkey Ball where the Monkeys where all phycotic killers trying to escape hell or something, more adults would buy it because instead of it being some cutesy wootsy furry monkey, its a ravenous drooling ape.
sacrifice the kiddy image, kids don't buy games, cater to the people with money in their pockets, thats where success comes from
well, yes, i am a PS2 owner, and an X-Box owner, and a GC Owner. i'm thrilled that Rockstar understands what system made GTA Popular and is catering to it first.
as for the graphics, this isn't the only site that i get news from, Spong.com had a story just like this earlier this morning here that does mention that the X-Box's Vice City will be getting a higher polygon count, and therefore, better graphics. Spong.com is a VERY reputable gaming information site
well, i for one am glad to see that the next Grand Theft Auto will be released on the system that made it what it is, and i think it'll be interesting to see the higher graphics on the X-box version of Vice City, i may just have to buy it again
it'll also be interesting to see if the new GTA will be able to compete with other games coming out like True Crime: Streets of LA which is Multi-platform.

most companies wrote-off the GC from the start, hell, the only reason i have one is for the 1st party games anyways, my serious gaming is done on my PS2, X-Box or PC, i use the GC for my casual gaming.
most people that have a GC are either 12 or have another medium to play games with, Nintendo just hasn't learned how to compete in the adult gamer society we've evolved into nowadays and the Gamecubes decline is proof of this.
i know an exclusive contract runs out, but this contract is until 2005 so unless rockstar found some huge loophole in the contract, the name Grand Theft Auto is still exclusive to the PS2 until 2005
maybe the loophole is calling it GTA instead of Grand Theft Auto, it might just be that simple

the reason they're able to get away with selling the bundle on X-Box is because they won't be called Grand Theft Auto on the X-Box. GTA Vice City will just be Vice City, and i'd imagine they'd rename GTA3 to Liberty City.

something you people don't understand, there is way more to the GTA series than killing people and raping Hookers. there is a Storyline to these games, and they have great storylines that are meant for Adults.
now think about this, if your a Parent and your kid comes home, just having bought "Debbie Does Dallas", are you gonna stand for it?
now, what if your Kid comes home with GTA3 or GTA Vice City? games that are clearly labeled as Mature. it is the Parents job to know what their children are watching/playing/etc., thats why they are Parents.
as for the Topic at hand, i love my PS2, but i'm glad the GTA series will be reaching a wider user-base, provided that the Parents of the kids in this userbase know what their getting into.
