I have no opinion on whether this is a good book or not, but I get the feeling that the authors/publishers are hyping this book. Which makes me think that it won't be purchased on its own merits, which means that this book is a piece of crap.

I just read some sad news on /. - the number of 'Stephen King dead' posts just passed the 50,000 mark. Anonymous Coward was found modded to -1 at his Maine keyboard this morning. Apparently, Mr. Coward was aimlessly cutting and pasting previous posts, trying to up his numbers, when he fell into an abandoned link. Unfortunately, the link was home to a family of king goats, who made short work of the Master of Cowardice. I'm sure he will be missed by the Slashdot community - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his impact on the social structure of /. Truly a /. icon.

  10. Hands are tied... on Microsoft Loses $177m on Xbox in Three Months · · Score: 1

I think on all points, M$'s hands may be tied.

Keep it open - M$ wisely backed away from producing PC platforms, focussing only on SW. I think their wish is that XBox's are produced by many competing companies, but I don't see that happening.

Buck content - M$ probably has a corporate strategy that can't be reversed on this one. Don't know.

Better Games - Japan is Sony's playground, not M$'s. Though M$ would love to get into Japan, Sony is firmly entrenched.

Keep Manufacturing Costs Down - M$ may have an agreement with Intel that prohibits them from using other chips.
