...is that this will now get other gaming companies to strike deals with major corporations.
While this has obvious advantages for the more reality based games (Honda => GranTourismo, Kalishnikov => Rainbow 6), where does this leave the non-reality based games? I have yet to see a company that manufactures a really good Biorifle. And Redeemers? Fuggedaboudit!
...that none of those articles mentioned. I heard recently that there is a proposed new observatory on Mauna Loa whose sole purpose is to search for killer asteroids. (Sorry, no link)
Mind you, building earth-saving technology on top of a volcano does strike me as, what's the word - oh yeah, STUPID.
How come I see so many - "This is a great book, buy it!" posts by Anonymous Coward in here. If Mr. - sorry - "Professor" Coward is willing to testify, why do it anonymously?
I have no opinion on whether this is a good book or not, but I get the feeling that the authors/publishers are hyping this book. Which makes me think that it won't be purchased on its own merits, which means that this book is a piece of crap.
But that's just my outlook. Please feel free to form your own opinion.
There's a direct correlation between music ability and mathematical ability (and good grades in general). Plus, you'll strengthen their fingers if your child ever becomes a/. contributer and spends too many hours at a computer keyboard.
Here in Canada, we have only a few cell companies, and only two alternatives for DSL - Bell Hi Speed (modem) and Rogers (cable). I have had no problems with Bell Hi-Speed, or with Bell Mobility. Coverage, cost, service, and quality are all great.
But then again, winter is 6 months long. Oh well.

I just read some sad news on/. - the number of 'Stephen King dead' posts just passed the 50,000 mark. Anonymous Coward was found modded to -1 at his Maine keyboard this morning. Apparently, Mr. Coward was aimlessly cutting and pasting previous posts, trying to up his numbers, when he fell into an abandoned link. Unfortunately, the link was home to a family of king goats, who made short work of the Master of Cowardice. I'm sure he will be missed by the Slashdot community - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his impact on the social structure of/. Truly a/. icon.
Keep it open - M$ wisely backed away from producing PC platforms, focussing only on SW. I think their wish is that XBox's are produced by many competing companies, but I don't see that happening.
Buck content - M$ probably has a corporate strategy that can't be reversed on this one. Don't know.
Better Games - Japan is Sony's playground, not M$'s. Though M$ would love to get into Japan, Sony is firmly entrenched.
Keep Manufacturing Costs Down - M$ may have an agreement with Intel that prohibits them from using other chips.
...that they did not release any pictures of Israel...
Conspiracy theory (choose one) 1) US doesn't want anyone to know they know about Israel's nukes. 2) There's nothing worth taking a picture of 3) ???? 4) Profit
What's to stop a click through link that points to a non-kidstuff site? And what happens if hackers get into a web site and do just that.
This is just like setting up a brand new park in the inner city (sorry for being non-PC here). Unless you police it heavily, the gangs come in and pretty soon, you've got a place that looks just like the rest of the scummy neighbourhood.
I don't see why don't the Chinese just do what the Communist countries (USSR, China) used to do in the good old days of the Cold War - reverse engineer any sufficiently advanced Western technology.
OB Simpsons ref - the Space shuttle on the 'Homer In Space' episode was an exact copy of the Russian Shuttle, which was a copy of NASA's.
I thought it was Ron Howard that starred in and directed American Graffiti. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
/. readers want to know...
Speaking of which - what does Opie have to say about media/entertainment relations?
See what happens when you get a beowulf cluster of those things? Ka-boom!

A bit like "Advanced use of .htaccess" or "Windows Start Menu volume 1"?
Where can I get volume 2? I lost mine, and my set is now incomplete.

The link to San Clemente Island -- used to carry data from a seismograph, data logger and Global Positioning System receiver....
During an earthquake, will that data registered by the seismograph still make it to the mainland?
More importantly; if it's a REALLY big one, will the GPS record San Clemente's new position?
Using Microsoft software was like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you're gonna get.
Editing films is like a box of chocolates....

What does the article imply with "ADM. Hmmm..."?
Oh, sorry, wrong continent.
Kinda makes the whole *@home thing passe...
What you really want, then, is a combination retina/voice/DNA scanner/analyzer. Still defeatable, but not as easy.
Yeah, but will it run Doom II?
