You could be right. I've never actually won anything major, so I'm not 100% sure. I know that the government-run lottery is not taxed. The government already makes tons of cash from the losers. I've heard the lottery described as a "stupidity tax". (I know people who use the lottery as their retirement savings plan.)
Fortunately, those of us in countries other than the U.S. don't necessarily have to pay taxes on winnings. This contest is open to people in Canada who would not have an extra tax burden if they won. (We already pay enough taxes!)
This brings to my mind a very interesting point. In my mind, genre is not something that should be assinged by artist. There are many artists in my collection that play many different types of music. I'm in the process of re-tagging all my music so that each song is assessed on its own merits. eg. "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a lot different than "Give It Away", and I don't think that they should be classified the same. This makes it a lot easier to create playlists that have similar music. The only thing that would make this even easier would be if iTunes would set up keywords (similar to iPhoto). This method does make for more work setting up the database initially, but makes it a lot easier to manage once it is all set up.
I also think that there is no ideal third-party solution for this problem. Everyone has different tastes, and different ideas on how things should be organized. Any music collection will need some tweaking, at a minimum, to get things the way you like.
The link in the parent post is very interesting, considering the way the iPod has taken over the portable music player market. A lot of the posts in that thread are people saying how the iPod will never sell - boy were they wrong!
There is an option in iTunes to rip CDs into AAC. You can then use a script to convert the file into an enhanced AAC, which is bookmarkable. Check out http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/index.php for lots of scripts for doing things of this sort.
That's cool. My wife and I got married as the last act of a juggling show. After the "I do's", we walked through an arch of club passers. Everyone says that it was the most fun wedding they have ever been to.
If you have the room, you might want to use 2 benches. I have one tall bench (good for use standing or sitting on a stool) & a desk that can be used sitting in a regular chair. This is in my basement, and the way its set up, the desk is away from the wall (next to a telepost). This works great because I can easily access the back of any boxes I'm working on simply by walking around the desk - no need to swivel the computer around, pushing other stuff off the desk, tangling cables, etc.

I'm not sure if this is high-res enough for you, but you might want to try Terra Server.
It seems to work fairly well for US locations, and not work well for other (Canadian) searches.

That's right. Why is it called "common sense" when it's so uncommon?
Any time you don't want to leave personal information on a webform, just use mailinator.
You never have to worry about giving out your email address & getting flooded with spam.

I don't think this falls in the "under $100." category.
Why not just get a 12" powerbook. It even supports resolutions better than VGA.

How about:
