It's what the bottom feeders always do. As much as I hate Microsoft, I really hope they win this case. Companies sit on crappy patents and then pull them out when a product is doing well. How's a developer supposed to know it's safe to continue? He can only wait till a product is successful to see if he'll be sued.

Had they used native GUI components they could have made the same GUI using a fraction of the CPU resources. Less pretty, but probably 5-7mb of ram instead of 35.
You can only enter 10 codes per day and a maximum of 200 during the whole contest....If they actually think this will become popular they will need a lot of people to redeem these songs.
It seems like the author thinks the majority of CGI apps are written in C.
...when the complexity of the response grows, the C programmer is forced to emit complex blocks of HTML from C code... Requiring that the interface be generated by C code also removes the possibility of replacing or updating the web interface in the field without replacing the entire binary image of the server
On cgi.resourceindex.com, there are 2933 Perl scripts and 165 C and C++ scripts combined.
This would seem to disprove his point that the "binary image" on the server must be replaced every time one wants to edit the html...
So you give the spammer a huge list of do-not-email addresses?
Wouldn't that be exactly what they want? Fresh emails? I'm already trying to keep my email address offline, I don't need it in a nationally readable list.
Thanks, but no thanks

If Microsoft were a monopoly, you guys wouldn't be able to post to Slashdot using Linux. If Microsoft were a monopoly, apple wouldn't be able to sell OSX. If Microsoft were a monopoly, you wouldn't be able to buy machines without Windows installed.
A monopoly is defined as "A company or group having exclusive control over a commercial activity."
Microsoft may control a vast portion of the market, but they're no monopoly. Otherwise, there would be no competition (and therefore no linux).

If you zoom in far enough you can read the license plates off the cars in the parking lot. That's pretty damn cool.
This is precisely what allofmp3.com does.

Actually MyTunes _does_ do a blanket file copy without regard to file type.
An official bittorrent file of MyTunes can be downloaded here:

I hope one of the first things the designers do is to get rid of the "topmargin=0 leftmargin=0" html on http://www.angry-pixels.com/.
And what's with the green text?
you mean like me and your mom?
I think journalists, and not just geeks, should read this. Let's just hope the journalist doesn't get smaller and smaller and smaller...nevermind.

yeah, alimony's a real bitch, aint it?
But hey, that would've required actually reading the article before posting it. :-P

that's very true. ah well.
So was the Challenger running Microsoft's SQL Server?
Before someone starts modeling OOP with this tool, they should get a new acronym. Why is it so hard to think of something original?
Looks like Hemos already has his legions working on marking out his next visits

What does this contribute to the field?
I'll give you that, but you seem to be saying that ie, after the Dred Scott decision, I couldn't say that the a slave was a person legally.
I'm saying the law was interpreted incorrectly, just like in the Dred Scott decision.

I'm sure many a fanatic will mod this down.
...I think I'm Dr. Seuss.
I would say none.
