Can We Trust Google With Our Secrets?

So far Google has been dealing with two different sets of data through its products:

    1. Our (seemingly) anonymous search queeries, through Google search.

    2. Our private documents, through Google desktop search.

What do you trust Google with?

So far, they have said no to the US government to keep your #1 private.

If you haven't opted in to #2, then so far you haven't even exposed yourself to the issue of trust with Google beyond 1.

People in China, of course, have a different form of trust relationship with Google for #1.

    Those are 3 separate issues.

FF, Opera and Safari and their respective communities are already well advanced with implementations of SVG, DOM, CSS, PNG, JPEG2000 and XForms. These standards are bread and butter for "seriously trying to make the lives of us web developers easier".

I'll clarify what he is doing in case it isn't clear from those posts. Rozeboom may ban you from posting if the last 20 posts from your IP address "have been modded down 28 times". He will do that even if your last 20 posts have also been upmodded more than they have been downmodded. Or even if your posts have not been downmodded at all but if someone else has been downmodded from the same IP, such as will happen if you are sharing an IP through a LAN!

Being banned from Slashdot may not be as consequential as being locked up in the Guantanamo facility, but IMO the justice and the lack of transparency shares the same spirit.

This is not the spirit that made Slashdot popular in the first place.
