good point. I think the largest they should have done the recipe is as a 50 liter batch for full size kegs. Many home brewers use 19L (5 gal us) kegs, at my work we have some 8gal us kegs. Most canadians (in my experience) use 5 gal imp (23 L) carboys while americans use 5 gal us (19L) carboys. So this batch should really be scaled down. I'd have to use 3 fermentors and 3 carboys.

Also another poster had a good point: this beer contains a fair amount of sugar. Since they aren't going for a belgian triple or the likes it really isn't going to help the recipe (sugar thins a beer out and if more than 30% of the fermentables are dextrose or sucrose you can get a cidery taste).

Of course this is a move in the right direction. There are some amazing beers out there that aren't available to some markets. With open recipes it would allow others to make the great beer.

Vitamins will no help the fact that all your seratonin is being re-uptaken into the neuron instead of making it to the receptor. Yes St. john's wort and some other vitamins have been helpful to some people, but not for people with severe clinical depression. We are talking about people who have brains that aren't sending signals correctly. Different neurotransmitters just aren't being recieve or recieved in high enough quantities to perform properly.

I am sure people who don't suffer from clinical depression would also get some sort of a "lift" from ssri's and mao inhibitors, but for those who need it it's the differenence between: not being able to concentrate, not be interested in anything, being entirely apathetic, having social anxiety, no sexual appetite, frequent sadness... etc
    and
acting like a normal person (or 90% of one at least).

Oh And when I list symptoms I don't mean one, i mean all at the same time. Unless you have experienced severe clinical depression you will just write it off as someone that needs to change their outlook in life (and to be fair there are many people who are just that way and don't need medical treatment), however it is not your place to decide what someone does or doesn't need, leave it to the medical proffesionals. Researches may not know much about brain function yet, but they know a lot more than Tom Cruise or anyone else not in the field who will just spout their opinion at will on something they know nothing about.

The mods are on crack, how you got modded up is beyond me.

Part of AMD's claims is outrageous. Why would AMD expect its competitor, Intel, to write software that supports AMD's own products?
Well it supports the x86 architecture. It doesn't have to support special features of AMD, but it should not purposely run different code (than it would on an intel proc) to crash the system. That's pushing the limit on anti-competitive, next thing you know ford is selling fuel that runs great in their cars but can tell if it's in a toyota and decides to spontaneously combust in the tank then.

Oh yeah, on the SPARC note, you need to take a computer arch class if you think that they are poorly designed.. if anything the x86 arch is the biggest hack of all.

On a related note, is there any way by which the authors of the GNU compiler collection (GCC) would limit the range of x86 instructions generated by GCC compilers....
Once again you have obviously never taken any classes regarding the subject. So you want to force all cisc processors to become risc by changing gcc to only support simple instructions? (which are not necessarily faster, just look at the cycles some complex operations take then try to create something in asm that does the same in the same amount of cycles using only simple instructions). Have you forgotten that GCC is not the only compiler in the world? Did you not RTFA?! It's about the intel compiler for goodness sakes! If GCC was crippled as you suggest, no one would use it, end of story.

Oh and less transistors on a chip? Brilliant. I assume you don't want faster computers or something. All the advanced branch prediction, out of order code execution etc that makes todays processors process that much faster than previous ones is thanks to the extra transistors.

If you want to talk about how computer architecture should change, take at least one class in it. It is really interesting (believe it or not) and you would learn a lot about what has been tried and done and why certain choices were made.

I fully agree on at least this point.. today I was discussing with a friend how mandrake 7.1 had a better partition tool (graphical and the autopartition seems semi intelligent) than ubuntu or debian. The mandrake installer is the most friendly IMHO of all installers I've tried (FC included). Choose a begginer install and the installer is as easy if not easier than installing windows XP.

Also the mandrake installer was able to do a proper dual boot setup very easily and would not default to wiping your windows instal. In ubuntu that is not the case, it defaults to delete your windows install, and when you choose to keep it you have to manually edit grub so that you have access to your windows install (for a "noob" that would basically mean windows was gone).

Anyhow to finish my rant: with how long there have been good installers (that are open source) there is no excuse for haing a poor one when you can just use one that is good and works already. Stop re-inventing the installer.

Yes I have bought used cds. But what's the difference in buying a used cd vs downloading mp3's? The complaint on dl'ing is that the original artist and the record company get nothing, but when I buy a used cd they still get nothing and i get the music (albight higher quality). Same deal here. The company will complain about a dl'd rom, but they aren't getting anything from you buying a used one anyhow and there is no way to get a new one. So why bother buying the used rom? If there is no new option why would they force you to buy a used one when they get nothing out of it?

To clarify, the difference with cd's is that there is the option to buy a new cd. The recording company can't complain about the used purchase, but they can call dl'ing mp3's stealing and threaten lawsuits. In the case of many roms, there is no way to buy new, and no way for the company to make money via your options on getting the roms. So why buy a used cart to make it "legal"? If they aren't actively trying to make money off the games what do they care if you actually have a cart at home (not to mention that many carts/aracade roms claim you don't have a right to have ANY copy of the data elsewhere, which is a different discussion on fair use etc).

On the other side of the coin, if I wanted to play Sonic 3 on my PSP (since it's one of my favourite games) I'd be quite happy to pay a few £ on eBay for an original cartridge so I'm then completely legit in downloading a ROM of that cartridge and running it under emulation.

Can anyone explain to me why this would make it ok to copy/download the game? The original creators do not get any of the money you spent on the used cartridge, so why bother buying a used cart? It would make more sense to me to mail a check for $5 to sega and say, "I'm using sonic on my psp, thanks." That way at least the creators (if sega actually made that inhouse, don't know and it doesn't matter for my point, lets just assume that is the case) get some money out of you. Buying a used cart they get none. Sure the original owner can not play the game so you are "transfering" the right to play the game, but come on, you are paying next to nothing for it and not actually using it at all, so why own it? Whether you buy it or not the orignal company has gotten all the money they can out of it, unless they are remarketing it (see further)

I myself have no problem morally with using roms that aren't available for current systems, it's their fault for not capitalizing on it. Look at midway, they've created some great collections for new systems which I have purchased. Some examples here here and (as you guessed) here. Oh and I shouldn't forget Namco .

Until more companies start doing this people will just download the games, not only is it easier but it makes a lot more sense than tracking down an old cart so you can feel good about downloading the roms. If people want to play old games on the psp the marketing groups of the companies that have all these great legacy games should be taking notice and doing something about it.
