notice any technology? I just saw some fine looking women (and some guy but i skipped over him quick). It's amazing how they can get hard ware to blend in these days!!! (I did notice the alienware laptop, but thought it was a purse at first... oops, girls like that don't carry laptops though, they have minions to do that, or something)
huh? Maybe i don't get abreviations (never been good at this english thing).
St. patrick == st. patty
so shouldn't:
st. paidrig == st. paiddy?
where the hell did the 'i' go? Maybe i need this abreviation alogorithm desribe a little better, "repeat the first consanent after the first vowel and add 'y' unless there is an 'i'?
super off topic but i liked the sig... I use Linux because it's like owning a chainsaw compared to owning a pen knife. Not always necessary, but much more fun
personally i'd say linux is like having a full case of snap-on tools, a bunch of chisels, a mitre saw, a table saw, a really sturyd workbench.. oh and a machining shop with plenty of raw materials to make all the tools you don't have but really want.
windows would be like having just a chainsaw.. sure you can use it as a hammer, or to sharpen a pencil (i've met people that claim they can do that) or even to do home redecorating and "fine" cabinetry work.. but it just isn't as effective as the right tool for the job. Of course some people like that kind of challenge
Oh and of course i understand it meant linux is more powerful.. but at the same time it is a more precision tool.. how about a gas powered scalple?(sp?)
Well, installing virtual PC doesn't add 10 pounds to the weight of a machine
That's one more complication to deal with if software isn't behaving right.. if you are buying one yourself i'd definetly go with a powerbook, but for deploment in a business these make sense. The power of a desktop yet you can drag it to another lab or office or presentation a lot easier. Especially compared to one of these (look it even has a plasma monitor!).
For use in a lan party this laptop makes even more sense to me than a powerbook (don't try to tell me all good games run on osx or well enough under virtual PC). Of course there is the sexiness factor.. chicks can't say no to a guy with a 17" powerbook i hear.....
well if your work place's standard operating environment is w2k or wXP and all their licenses are for windows based software then getting a powerbook probably wouldn't be very advantageous... true most software has an equivalent on mac but some propriatrory software doesn't. Plus it makes things easier for the IT staff..
For those too lazy to click the link it says and i quote, "All systems stable and running". Microsoft calling something stable, that's a bit of a reach...
Windows 3.1 had something like 50,000 applications
so did OS/2 then, it can run them no problem. that was the comparison.
OS/2 is used in atms. That was my point of that statement. It is still used. And still used in banks quite often, and telcom companies etc. You can't say no one used/uses it.
If you were an administrator, which i doubt, why don't you really post on AC? Maybe you weren't able to set up os/2 well if you had stablity problems.
The only thing it compared well with was Windows 3.
Why? It may habe been similar era, but it obviously performs much beyond any of the early windows (3.1, 95, 98) since it had true mulitthreading and a fs that was a lot less prone to fragmenting.
My main point was, your comparison of OS/2 to linux on PDA's makes no sense. Linux on pda's has no apps? OS/2 has no apps? both false and stupid to say. Stupid people will use what they are told to use through marketing, not "what has applications". Ease of use may be an arguement, but I really don't think linux is far behind if at all on pda's.
oh one last one
It's clear from your rhetoric that you are a Team OS/2 member, BTW
I guess that could be true if i were lying on my profile, but until that is proven I'm a CSc student.
if you want to respond to this, try repsonding non ac and i may be interested.
Likewise people used to say that OS/2 was a better platform than Windows
It is. Is windows used in ATM machines? Can you choose your filesystem on windows? (ntfs or fat32, which both suck) OS/2 offers real multithreading support. Ah but as you said
OS/2 was largely useless due to the lack of applications
So I guess windows 3.11 was useless because of it's lack of applications. OS/2 will run 16bit dos programs more solidly than early windows or dos. Oh, OS/2 has a JVM, I guess nothing useful is written in java. Xfree86 has been ported too, but no one uses that for anything i hear.
I don't use os/2 nor do I care to, but just because you don't use it, or anyone you know directly doesn't mean it isn't a good operating system. Anyone that i know that uses, or used it is for it's stability, something windows cannot offter no matter how many applications you can get for it.
Broaden your horizons and stop listening to the mass-market pap
Unfortuneatly not everyone can or is willing to do that. My point it, the large labels are going to have to take a cut on per unit proffits if they want to sell more and see less piracy. Since p2p networks, and irc and the internet in general the game field has changed, and hence the game has as well. They large labels want to be able to make as much profit per unit (if not more with lower production costs) as the early 90's, which is rediculous, the times have changed so they must change with the times to keep up. Instead they want to obliterate the change and have things the way they were. Of course even if all p2p systems were shut down, people would still be pirating music (wheter it be direct file transfer or direct media transfer (dvds filled with songs etc)) music will still be exchanged. Maybe then some big wigs would realise if music were more accesable more people would buy it.
sorry about the rant. What I am all for is groups that sell their own cd's directly. Then you know you are supporting the group.
I refues to pay for an entire album (10-16 tracks?) when only 3 are listenable. Maybe if the record industry quit pushing out garbage people would buy, oh and lowered the price of cd's a little, they've been nearly the same price for 10 years now (at least where i live, new cd's sell for around $15 CAN). You can now buy a dvd player for les than $50, portable cd players are 1/4 the price and play mp3's as well, why has music "kept" it's value. The cost to produce cd's has gone down and yet the cd's haven't. I still do buy a cd now and then, when I want to support the group, and they have an album that i find to be entirely listenable (more recent was either queens of the stone age or Red Hot chilli peppers). If I want to hear the newest pop song, i'll download it, and when i'm tired of it i'll delte it, no messy storage of Cd's, no wasted money.
Let's face it. People do not want to through their money away, especially on something they could get for free.
That APEXi might be sexy in the same way a $4000 Mac is sexy sitting on a Silicon Valley VC's desk
And there we get to my original point.. you won't see this on a "ricer's" car.. not sexy. If we go back to the orig post, he said you'd see megasquirt stickers on "ricer's" cars.. ricer gennerally meaning big wings, and bad body kits. I really stand behind that they won't find it intriging, and you won't be seeing it in Sport compact any time soon (and only because the majority of cars in magazines are people with way too much money that but whatever looks good that can be bolted onby the nearest shop with a dyno). Then some AC troll comes along and is like, but MS is greaaat.. yeah it is. I did not say otherwise.. I said it was missing some points, ie complete intigration with things like ignition, which will come (I did state that their fuel map made more sence).
My point was MegaSquirt Stickers are Not Going to be The Next big Thing On "Riced" Cars like "powered by honda" stickers on your mazda or toyota (which does not have an engine swap, incase someone wants to say.. ahs but some toyota's or mazdas have honda engines).. the only people that will advertise that they have MS are those that do.. and that's prolly a good thing.
Oh and if anyone reads this any knowledge on MS being used with rotary engines?
So eat what AC? Batch fire is still far from elegant.. it may be inexpensive but so what? The elegant solution is a standalone such as one by A'PEX (see powerfc). There are other brands but this is the first to pop to head. Can the mega squirt control vtec engagement? Well not unless i add code and hardware, so i just threw out some power there. Can it control ignition? Not by itself. Can it control boost and turbo timing? No. Can it control secondary injectors that's cycle is controlled by boost? No. These lacking aspects make it seem far from an elegant solution.. but rather a nice fun hack.
Oh and it is fast b/c it is written in assembler? Hahaha.. just because something is written in asm doesn't mean it is fast.. asm does not necessarily breed good programming practices (although i have programmed for the 68hc11 and took a look at this code and it looks good). In the case of a processor that does out of order or always performs the instruction right after a jump (or other oddities) often compiled from c will be less buggy.
16,000 rpm peak? Hmm, won't work for motorcycles very well then (at least ones i've owned or ridden)...
and has a fueling map resolution that is higher than that of many expensive commercially available standalone systems OK now I know you didn't RTFA!! The writer claims that a 16x16 (?) map is big enough but not too big like many commercial products that use that as a bragging right (but can cos miss programms).. The a'pex fc has a 20x20 map for both ignition and fuel... The writer did not say it was higher.. he said higher than some lower than others and for a reason, and i agree with him.
So eat it. Hmmm, maybe next time don't post as an AC. Sure the Megasquirt has the capability to control boosted motors, but a toaster oven has the capability to cook pizza and i won't be doing that any time soon.
yeah i hear changing sequential injenction to banked injection is a truly *sweet* mod.. right up there with down clocking your computer..
If you see a "rice mobile" with *Hacked with Megasquirt* stickers either the owner is stupid or really stupid (if you read the article the product is pointed towards switching carbed vehicles to injection).. then again from the department that thought big wings make you fast... (and don't give me that downforce bullshit.. *most aftermarket wings are not functional and if they are designed to be functional are mounted improperly).. but i digress..
ROFL.. yeah pretty compelling topic "youth in asia".. I guess it could be if it was poverty and the youth in asia, but just youth in asia? I can see it now:
Many asian children go to private schools and wear uniforms. To keep their socks up they use "sock glue". American youth do not have sock glue, and generally no belts so their pants hang off their asses...
Secondly, how often do you think women get attacked as compared with men?
I know a LOT more men that have been jumped than women (by strangers) for money or personal items, infact I personally do not know any women that have been "jumped", although many of my male friends (including myself) have been "jumped" by people we do not know (and do not know us through anyone either).. for money or other items.. Plus I am not small and defenceless as you may argue.. I can hold my own, against one guy that is. Thing is the media is more likely to publish a woman being "jump" than a man.. it's more sensational.. only time i've heard of men being jumped in the paper here is when the male is stabbed and dies.. it doesn't even take a severe beating for an assault on a female to get into the press..
Another point is even with statistics how many "real men" will report that they were jumped? Very few I think.... just food for thought.
When was the last time you heard of a guy being stalked?
No comment on that, I only know of one male and one female that have been stalked to the point of needing a restraining order (old boyfriends/gf's calling you all the time doesn't count as stalking in my books) so that's not enough for any meaningful conclusions.
'course in Canada we 'prolly do everything ass backwards (assuming you are not canadian).
excellent point, there is no such thing (techinically).. but our society has made it a euthinism(sp?) for sexism. Specifically where one party is favoured. Classically discrimanation was thought of as excluding, of course if some one is excluded the other party is favoured so it is all just the same thing, depends on your POV (is it women being favoured (reverse sexism?) or men being excluded (sexism) ).
oh another point is that men are used to doing the excluding not being exluded, hence reverse? I dunno just thoughts...
Also, why is this only for women? Do they think that men don't get jacked up by criminals too?
Good point.. lets say this 120 pound male (5'11") was walking down the street with his new Powerbook so he could read/. at the local coffeshop/comic store/laundry mat... what's to stop someone from jumping him and taking his precious Mac? This stylish jacket of course!!
All joking aside I'm against all this reverse sexism.. favouring one sex is the same as excluding the other.
notice any technology? I just saw some fine looking women (and some guy but i skipped over him quick). It's amazing how they can get hard ware to blend in these days!!! Runnings Homebrew Code
Can I just burn a 8 cm CD/DVD and use it in the GameCube?
No. The GameCube reads no CDs/DVDs. There is no way to produce a GameCube compatible optical media using a CD/DVD burner.
So do I run homebrew code on the GameCube?
The PSOload method is the only way.
What do I need in order to run homebrew code?
A GameCube, any version of Phantasy Star Online, a Broadband Adapter, a memory card, and PSOload.
Do I need a modchip?
There are no modchips.
Will any of this disable the ability to play games?
No.
3 Helpingyou must have missed this. The Dreamcast webserver.. woohoo.
I gave it to your mom last night, as well.
Ah maybe you shoulda checked the pic of her before being so witty.
