Work on embryos is verboten in the United States. People in Europe don't have as many problems with it as Americans. The root of it is religious, and there's large differences between the United States and Europe WRT religion.
These cultural differences aren't exactly minor, and I think they can have a real impact on how teams work together. I've worked in multicultural teams, and the way the team is built into a unit is by getting to know the individuals over time. This process happens much more easily when everyone is in the same team room working together.
Something that many companies don't seem to consider when they send jobs to other countries, or split the work between different teams in different countries is that without the face to face interaction it's much harder to get to know the other people. These cultural problems would show up in reduced productivity. Rather than being worked out and adjusted for, cultural differences would have a real chance of becoming a serious issue. It might look tempting to companies to send work out to cheaper countries, but the costs can be accrued in other ways than in just salaries.
Analog connectors and signals are good enough for now. I run an LCD in 1280x1024 resolution and it's fine, though I had to use a good quality cable. Once resolutions go higher, then the digital signals will become more important. The DVI connectors haven't failed, it's just that they haven't succeeded yet. They will. Right now, the cables cost more money too, and that's always a factor.
Security isn't my primary worry, at least at first. The indexing data is stored in an SQL database. I've had my share of registry corruption to know that when Microsoft stores a pile of critical information in a centralized database, you'd better keep that database backed up. At the very least, it'd be wise to stay away from the new formats until everyone else has debugged them.
Super-heterodyne detectors do a frequency conversion of a signal into a single frequency. The converter uses a VFO (variable frequency oscillator) which can emit RF noise.
They do this because when you're building an RF amplifier for a radio, it's easier to make one that works at a single frequency than one that works over the entire range of a radio signal (TV signals range from the VHF to the UHF bands - a very wide variation). The signal is converted with the VFO and a mixer to a single constant frequency, then it's passed on to subsequent stages in the radio.
One of the leading reasons people come inside when it's cold out is because the pain from cold hands and feet gets very annoying.
If our hands and feet remained nice and toasty, we would lose a little bit of heat, certainly. But, we'd also stay outside much longer than we would have otherwise, and that's the difference that could kill you. You'd slip into hypothermia muttering incoherently to yourself "at least my little piggies are nice and toasty."
Nothing on Mars is exactly as we expect it. The landing site for Opportunity might appear to be less scientifically interesting from orbit, but I think once the lander is down there will be all sorts of neat things to get excited about.
Linux is a always a system with the GNU libraries and the Linux kernel, so it's pointless to add it every time. From now on, the name of the system should just be " ".
Star Trek has been crap for a long time, which makes me very sad. The only thing they haven't tried is to put Scrappy Doo on the show. I predict that next season, if they are picked up, we're going to see the addition of the following characters:
Scrappy Doo, Oliver (from the Brady Bunch), a "long lost cousin" of the Fonz, Neelix, and a monkey dressed in a dagget suit.
And Berman will be wondering aloud why people just aren't watching the show.
401k? You mean that you are a right-winger, but are trying to build your wealth through a tool of the unwashed masses? One can only feel sorry for you, as you dream of one day being more than a tool for the rich.
Only a jack-booted thug such as yourself would think that is OK. The warrant should list exactly what they are taking, and should not enable a fishing expedition.
No money No apology No donations No release of their source Nothing
Just compliance with the GPL. Period. You will win, because hardly anyone's stupid enough to fight a clear copyright, and compliance is a perfectly reasonable thing to ask.

1) I know how police radars work. The only thing missing from your redundant description is the term "beat frequency".
2) The radar detector is a superheterodyne (you spelled it wrong) receiver, that emits RF energy at the frequency of the intermediate signal.
So what am I confusing again?
and start talking to it.
(In Scottish accent) "Hello Computer"

Apparently that takes less bandwidth than a search for DirecWay on Google.
Nice with the hate.
Is that what you told those people who you tricked into testing out your personal gas chamber?
Q: How does a right-winger keep the flesh from freezing off those bones?
A: Install a barrack in his concentration camp.

Stop that. Every time somebody types that, my modem hangs up. It's getting old.

You're the very model of a modern major general!

Starbuckii.
A Fiero is a Chevette with a plastic body. No way could it go 145.
If there were no people, there's no way people can use drugs and get behind the wheel of a car.
So, kill all the people.
Of course, you're addicted to your own stupidity.
Do not aim for anything other than compliance.
