    The first time I saw an IMAC with the 17" flat panel...I almost wanted to own one. Despite being a die hard pc user, the flat panel on the imac came close to converting me.

    To this day it just seems like the quality of the image with the bold, bright colors is the best flat panel out there.

    Instructor myself...I would just declare certain lecture times to be "computer's down". When I'm trying to get across a critical point, I would make people close their laptops, stop writing away on their notes and just listen to me.

    When I'm confident that they've gotten the point or the majority of them had, I would then hand out an addendum to their notes covering what we just discussed.

    This would be a commonplace event, happening most likely once per classroom day.

    People have sued for harassment and won against police departments showing them "undo attention".

    Following something with some probably or just cause and noting their movements within reason is perfectly fine. But lojacking everyone just in case they do something wrong is the issue at hand...that is not fine by any stretch.

    If they instituted something like this, it would only be a matter of time before someone tries to subpoena these records for a trial.

    Lawyer to court: We can see that you were in fact in the vicinity of the crime, because your GPS records, people's exhibit C, show clearly you were there at the time.

    They have already used arguments like this in other states with EZPass toll records, like in New York. But signing up for EZ Pass is voluntary, this wouldn't be.

    As for discrimination, that would be much harder to prove. This is obviously a case of being double taxed for gas. But at least then you have a choice of what grade fuel you use and what you put it in. Even if you own an enviro-friendly, none gas using motor vehicle, you'd still be penalized for this "GPS" tax.

    First of all, this is an invation of privacy. The State government has no right to know how many miles I drive or where I drive.

    Secondly, this tax will discriminate against those people who are forced to drive more miles then others because of their occupation or place of residence.

    Heh, this seems to be a discussion about whether they used "approved methods" of retrieving a deleted email. According to one person, the LinuxGNU was the only one approved by NIST (national institute of standards and technologies). This of course, is wrong...NIST doesn't "approve" software, they just test it and declare whether or not it works.

    Using Mozilla, and I love it. There's only one small problem. I really miss being able to click my mouse wheel and move the mouse up and down to scroll through the page faster.

    They can certainly try. Bluffing is not against the law. Corporations, government, lobbyists, lawyers, churches, private individuals ... all of these groups will at times attempt to pressure others with legalize, bad press and the like.

    I happen to think that for the most part you have the right to put anything you want on your website. If you want to run a parody of Dow, the Pope or John Lennon, go for it.

    However, with that being said. Your ISP doesn't necessarily have to put up with that. They also have a right to decide what content they will host on their servers. If they take offense at your postings or bow to pressure from a corporation or the government, that's well within their right.

    They run a business. Just because you want to take a risk with something you choose to write. Doesn't meant they have to take the risk with you.

    A company can easily fold just because people lose confidence in it. As far as the public is concerned, all AMD does is make CPU's in a big war with Intel that they are losing.

    AMD hasn't done enough to disparage people of that belief. Meaning that, in my opinion, unless they make some news in the CPU markets coming soon, confidence in them will further drop and their days will likely be numbered.

    Not sure of your exact requirements, But the Dell portable precision Workstation M50 is pretty nice. 15" UXGA LCD. GeForce Quadro4 to go video card. 5400 RPM 60gb hdd. 1 gig of ram, etc.

    Actually...I was thinking more along the lines of RAS into the home network. Issue your "startup" command while you drive home from Dinner.

    Lights come on, the heat is turned up a few notches, bath water starts running at a comfortable 106 degrees, the stereo comes on to your favorite cd...etc.
