Its so typical of the DNC to wait until the project is 90% complete then jump in and promise what already exists. 80% of the US population has access to broadband, with the remaining 20% being rural areas (which I'm in). Those rural areas are rapidly getting landline broadband, and have access to satellite broadband already.
The other option is that the DNC is promising to PAY for everyone's broadband. That simply means prices go up, because you just know this means a new taxes on broadband access to fund it. This is similar to the goverment funding digital TV for everyone when they kill off analog signals.
Machines are so fast today, that for personal use I don't see any difference between custom compiled code optimized for my cpu and precompiled. Bear in mind that most precompiled binaries are already available for the major cpu's (P4, AMD, AMD64, etc).

Umm, why hydrogen? Biodeisel is cheap, easy to make and uses common, inexpensive deisel engines that are used throughout the developing world and Europe. Only the US would face any difficulties transitioning to from petrol engines to diesel. In the interrum, they could use E85 ethanol.
Both technologies result in clean burning fuel, over 85% reduction of fossil fuel needs, and provide new markets for the world's farmers (who really need the help!).
Hydrogen and Electric by comparison, are expensive, hard to maintain, not suited for rough developing world conditions, and do not have the long lifespan of deisel technology. A electric hybrid needs its electric motors replaced every 4-6 years which is horrendously expensive. A biodeisel, otoh, can run 20 years or more with decent maintenance.
At the end of the day, rising oil costs will, through the invisible hand of the market, drive users to convert voluntarily to new solutions.
The last ice age started melting roughly 10,000 years ago. The climate has been on a warming trend since that time. The average temperature for the earth over the historical period since complex life developed is much warmer than it is now. Logically, our current mean temperatures are abnormally cold compared to the mean temperatures over the last 35 million years.
The high probability is that "global warming" is simply the globe resetting from the "global cooling" of the last 100,000 years. That may not be good for us, since we evolved to live in a cooler climate, but its normal for the planet.
At the end of the day, the argument is not how to prevent global warming since that cannot be done. The argument is how to adapt to the new conditions.
WoW is at its core an instant messaging chat room frequented in large part by children. Blizz walks on very shaky ground allowing any adult player-generated "content". It only takes one solicitation of a minor to have them wracked by a class action suit. Its an orientation-neutral concern.
Since I play WoW, I have to say I really prefer than ALL realworld issues be left at the door. Issue-oriented blowhards really ruin what little immersiveness WoW has left.
