FYI Win CE has the same version http://www.macromedia.com/mobile/
Macromedia has been kind of slow porting flash to platforms other then x86 Windows and PPC Mac. They just announced Linux support for flash 8.5 x86 and x86_64 so there may be a possiblity that flash for other devices is comming soon as well.
I opened up the page and the first thing I notice is that both show vulnerabilities of not only the OS but the applications that run on it. Its really not fair to say that an iTunes vulnerabilities makes Windows less secure since Microsoft has no control over it. It also seems that the say this is done is Windows v All(Linux, Mac, all *nix OSs). Not to mention that there are still numerous vulnerabilities on windows that are going unpatched(wmf anyone?).
Even if it was IE would have to be installed. Many applications use IE as a backend for their apps, infact I think even explorer(the program to look through your files) is basicly explorer.
Knowing google there is a VERY good chance that google will help to make Goolge Talk AIM gateways work perfectly. This probably wont happen right away but I could see it comming down the pipe.
Would this mean in the future that IM will be like e-mail? Everyone can have username@server.we and they can all talk to eachother? That would be great.
I wonder if this means they will be going off standard jabber, using the AIM protocal, or will google setup a gateway for Jabber on google servers? Google has also announced full third party client support(gaim trillian etc), does this mean it will be extended to AIM? This could help the IM world get a little more organized.
If its just KDE vs GNOME then get a bunch of Mac and Windows users to try GNOME and KDE. You might want to explain some things first, like there is no E for the Internet click on the Red Fox for Firefox things like that. If its all around useablity have people from Mac Windows GNOME and KDE try the other UIs and have them tell you what they like and dont like dont have them compare against eachother. The reason for this is people get stuck in their ways and do not like to change to something newer even if it is easier.
But remember google is a web site running web services they dont want to block out customers by saying you have to use one browser or the other. Google and its services will always be standards compliant(at least as much as any other web site) so it can be used on any browser be it Opera, Konqueor, Firefox, Safri, or even IE.
First of all doesnt google already work with opera including on mobile devices? Second, they could easily use mozilla in the mobile browser market by helping out minimo by fixing bugs and porting it to other devices.
The google talk protocal is Jabber, an open source/protocal. GAIM and many others have long had support for Jabber what Sean(GAIM's developer hired by google) is "offer all of Google Talk's features into other clients" currently he is working on adding voice support which is not an offical part of Jabber(at least not that I know of). Anyway im personally infavor of using one standard protocal that all chat clients can use. Basicly GoogleTalk users could talk to MSN AIM and ICQ users with out any extra setup, it would be like how you can send mail to anyone not just people at your host.
Thats exactly what im saying, that google should(maybe they have) hire some of the firefox developers instead and help firefox along. Google hired GAIMs lead developer to help GAIM and other clients fully work with Google Talk, hiring the firefox developers would make sure that firefox and others fully work with google web apps.
Why would Google buy Opera? I understand they wont to compete with M$ but why not just contribute to Firefox? I know recently google just hired the lead GAIM developer to help with google talk, why wouldn't google do something similar and help firefox grow? Infact if you goto google they are pumping out many extensions for firefox, I havnt seen anything for Opera. It seem that google is trying to help firefox.
You hit the nail on the head. My gf and I were looking at both the PSP and the DS last Spring since we were going on some long summer trips. The PSP had and still has no games while the DS and an encredible amount of great games. With PSP spying on there customers and making crappy electronics(my school bought Sony VIOS, long story but its like a laptop made of glass) no wonder no one wants it. The only thing the PSP has is better graphics, which dont matter in crappy games and horrible controls(thats what my 7800 GT is for), and it can be used as a portable media player. The DS has amazing games and my gf and I are thinking of buying a second one so we can play multiplayer. There are only two features that are missing from the DS that would make it the ultimate, portable media player(its a game console should be able to display a few movies and pics), and a simple web browser(just for fast slashdot viewing with its builtin 802.11b).
Whats so bad about X11? Im using x.org right now and everything is working fine. If I loaded KDE on here I could customize it to look basicly like OSX. I never understood why they took out X11, seems like it would make more sense to keep it.
Ive been programming for a pretty long time. Personally I believe that if you write a program correctly it should be very easy to port. idsoftware writes there games and they run on Linux Mac and Windows with no problem, why is this? Because they plan on running on different OSs so they use APIs that work across most OSs(OpenGL, OpenAL, SDL ect). If google wrote Google Earth with QT as the GUI I believe we would have versions for Linux, Mac, and BSD already. Google just needs to plan better.
If they have a bunch of computers setup for free use with Firefox up most people probably wont even be able to tell the difference. Ive had many windows-only people use KDE and they use it just fine, most dont even notice. Anyway im not saying they have to use Linux, but Mac would give the same message, Google dosnt need MS for anything.
Im sorry but I really dont see what was so scary about that level. To me it was just another level, samething but a little darker and with some kool traps. Doom III actually was scary, when a monster jumped out it really would scare you. F.E.A.R I cannt comment on because THEY DONT HAVE A LINUX PORT AND CEDEGA DOSNT WORK WITH IT!!!
What about Age of Empires? M$ keeps making it. I think theres still plenty of money in it and if they did make a good sequal it would make tons of money. Its never a good buisness plan to only sell one thing(right now blizzards main thing is world of warcraft) although I hope they dont do something like World of Starcraft.
Is Blizzard ever going to make Starcraft II? I know plenty of people still play it and would love for the story to go somewhere(the ending of Broodwar is a cliff hanger if you dont remember). sigh I remember hearing years ago that it was going to come out in 2005, I wonder if it will ever see the light of day.
ummmm maybe if they only use the command line. Have your users use KDE, my 90 year old grandfather uses it just fine. Infact I think KDE would be much easier to switch to then Mac. Many of the features such as Start, file browsing, and look are the same.

Dont most nvidia graphics cards come with it anyway? I know my 5900 Ultra did, never looked on the discs that came with my 7800 GT since I use Linux.

Its the same thing for the windows drivers. ATI drivers suck period.
Every other USB drive ive ever plugged in works fine(via the usb-storage module). Why would these be any different?

It works great in cedega under Linux, infact ive never played on winblows.
