You set up some nice straw men, but the libertarian types that are routinely told to go to Somalia on/. actually understand that things like SSI and public schools belong in the same bucket with universal health care.
especially the least of these
Jesus didn't tell people to pay taxes to take care of the poor; he told people to PERSONALLY take care of the poor. Paying taxes and caring for the poor, sick, and incarcerated are two different actions.
It's not a valid social contract if there's no exit clause. Try moving to the wilderness to remove yourself from society and you end up like the Weavers.
What kind of writer doesn't know the difference between the words "riddle" and "rattle"? I honesty couldn't understand the sentence and had to read it three times. And it wasn't just once he did this. Unless Batman was on the other end, I don't think he meant to "riddle" Microsoft.
Essentially, you're right, which is why all that had to be done back in the House was to pass a "harmonizing" bill (because the bill still needs to pass in both houses).
Mostly, I think universal health care will steal my freedom to give it to government. That's a far greater concern to me than pontificating on other people's health issues. FWIW, it seems to be the Europeans in socialized medicine countries who really like to pick on the "fatties" who, in their opinion, only exist in the USA.
I have no idea why In North America they don't teach this
Because without having part of the vehicle visible in the convex passenger-side mirror, it's difficult to gauge distance. There's a valid reason-- no one said you have to accept it, of course.
Speaking of safety, and knowing I'll sound like a luddite,
Yup.
the worst invention as far as I'm concerned is the automatic gear box. People completely lacking the hand eye coordination, with poor motor skills can drive because of it.
Screw those people with physical disabilities, amirite? And being able to have both hands on the steering wheel is overrated! I think what we're looking for is foot-hand coordination, not hand-eye.
It sounds like your argument is that it's better to have the distractions of a clutch and gearshift rather than having the car handle those functions. If that's a benefit, then why all the hubbub over people driving with phones in their hands?
I concur. My Alero has had episodes of turning off the interior light a few seconds after opening the passenger door or trunk, or simply not turning it on at all. I've also heard static coming out of the front right speaker, without the stereo even being on (I suspect the BCM because the audio alerts use the stereo).
I was under the impression that once something becomes a meme, it is essentially public domain since it's extensive public use would forfeit any intellectual rights the creators may have had.
No, in fact, they're not public domain. Declaring them public domain based on their pervasiveness would mean that Mickey Mouse is also public domain-- and we all know that isn't true.
If you create a meme and plaster it all over the Internet, you can't expect to keep people from using it, for profit or otherwise
Pretty sure Fatso the keyboard cat was simply posted on YouTube and the meme snowballed.
Once upon a time, running power lines overhead was the accepted way because electrical power was new and progress was driven by the early adopters. However, in barbaric areas where electrical power did not arrive until the 20th century, or due to repeated wars the infrastructure had to be rebuilt, underground lines are more common.
same as Republican is the socially acceptable alternative to the KKK
It disgusts me when cretins like your trivialize the horrible struggle for civil rights in the USA in this manner. Lincoln was a Republican, the Civil Right Act was sponsored and voted for by Republicans, and Jim Crow was a creation of the Democrats. You would know this if you weren't a vainglorious European who has no idea what the KKK even was, or is. Having lived under the thumb of Hitler for a time, you think you'd know better than to trivialize human suffering.
It only really disturbed me in SOF when I blew off a guy's leg, then his head... and his corpse remained standing, headless, balancing on one leg.
Success is not a zero-sum game, but socialist types believe it is because it excuses their failure.
Because I'm sure scarcity will be eliminated, along with the law of gravity and death by natural causes.

Because socialism requires giving more power to government. I think that's enough reason to be cautious.

Not to argue, but it won't "double the capacity" unless your road has no buses or trucks.
Intel used to make a nice winter space heater: Pentium 4.

Actually, I've never heard of a car since ODB-I not going into limp-home mode if the MAF, or any other critical sensor for that matter, fails.

Your iPad has an HVAC in it?
Oh, good. let's start a Mickey Mouse meme, then.

No, but the Republicans are. If they weren't, they wouldn't be for giving so many incentives to corporations or legislating on moral issues.
You are not only insulting, but wrong. Come back once you've managed to pass 8th grade social sciences.
Thank you for clearly articulating what I was trying to put across.

What's your point, Grumpy McNegative? "The lesson is: never try."
Wish I had mod points.

That's funny... there are only kernels of corn in mine.
