They're allowing teachers to search and delete content from the phones. It's none of the teachers' business what is on the phones. The only time a teacher should touch a phone is if the student is using it in class: it should be confiscated for the day.
Here in the USA, it was determined decades ago that young people don't leave their rights at the schoolhouse gate (Tinker vs. Des Moines), but we continue to ignore that ruling for our own twisted ends.

Coaches rarely go for it on fourth and short as much as they should. Gregg Easterbrook touts going for it on fourth down more often based on the fact that an NFL down averages a gain of 5 yards and other factors. He's mentioned a high school coach who almost never punts, and who has a really good win-loss record to show for it. I'm not sure I'd go that far as a coach, but I have to say that the next NFL coach to punt inside the opponent's 40 yard line should be fired immediately.

False dilemma. Safe drilling doesn't kill fish, and drilling on land is safer than in the sea; BUT ideologues like our president, Al Gore, and a host of special interest socialist organizations claim otherwise because they WANT oil drilling to be risky so that the public opinion will sway against it. We need oil and natural gas NOW, while we keep working on other energy sources for later.

I'm talking about in the short term. We are still in an economic downturn, and looking at a "double-dip". We can NOT recover if some uninformed ideologue's idea is to artificially raise prices to levels that the middle class cannot afford so that we all essentially end up on the public dole when the system collapses. The only outcome is a state capitalist economy like China's.

This strategy for dealing with trolls ends up sounding very similar to the advice given by Dale Carnegie in "How to Win Friends and Influence People". This book is now nearly 80 years old (and the talks it is based on are even older), but changes in culture and technology really don't affect human nature. Internet trolls are really just egregious forms of the jerks you encounter in every day life. Every time you encounter some difficult person, you have to remember that getting want you want is more important that "being right" or "winning". That might even sound selfish at first, but with this kind of attitude, everyone wins because it encourages cooperation instead of conflict. Carnegie focused on humans' feelings of self-worth, so ultimately you're combining the golden rule with negotiation to achieve success. Of course, you should just read the book because you're not going to get much out of my second-hand interpretation.
