People here are complaining about the effort required to press Model M keys. Man, those VT-100s were brutal. You had to slam those keys, and you didn't even get much tactile feel for the effort.
Stromasys offers an Alphaserver emulator for this. There is a free version called PersonalAlpha. It is accurate, but even running on a modern quad-core 64-bit CPU it's only about as fast as an EV5 by my benchmarks. The commercial product fares a little better.
There are other options, like FreeAXP, but I had better performance with Stromasys.
OpenVMS has been licensed by VSI, a venture by Nemonix, so a migration to x86-64 is not out of the question. In fact, it's likely considering it would free VMS from the whims of HP.
For me to calculate efficiency without using the MPG readout, I have to use the odometer and the gauge that's on the fuel pump. The fuel pump should be accurate, but the odometer is connected to the same computer that calculates the MPG. How would this be more accurate? Or are you suggesting that people drive around with fifth wheels, and remove and weigh their tanks after every trip?
Many, if not most, modern 4-cylinders can make it to 120 MPH-- if the governor is disabled.
Yours is a nonsensical complaint, anyway, since you'd demand that a manufacturer have different speedos for different models, based solely on how fast they can go. It's a bit cheaper to make one speedo for two or three different models than make one for each.
Number one, a contract is different from a policy. If you sign a contract, you have protections based on what is in the contract. Number two, you can put anything you want in a contract or a policy, but if it violates law they might as well put "must surrender first-born" in there for all the good it does them.
That's exactly how I would have put it to the judge in traffic court. "Moving out of the way seemed like the safest action. But don't worry, I won't do it again. Hopefully, no one's life depends on those few seconds."
Fantastic. Just thought I'd let you know, I'm removing the passenger seats and radio from your car so that you don't need to worry about being distracted.
Reductio ad absurdum demands we should never go more than 25 MPH or have radios or passengers. Every person who dies in an accident is our fault until we do.
The fact that people don't know the difference between "at will" and "right to work" is probably why we have so many people opposing "right to work" laws. They think they're giving up employment protections, when right-to-work is mostly a win for employees and a loss for huge, money-wasting unions.
Banning guns to reduce violent crime is really like banning a specific drug to reduce drug crimes. People move to other drugs, and the criminal activity continues. Meanwhile, similar to how banning guns actually makes the old and disabled more vulnerable to attack, banning specific substances stimulates the creation of new ones that are often more dangerous than the ones they replaced (e.g. crack, methamphetamines, "bath salts").
Seriously, learn how to spell "Muslim", then look up "Sunni" and "Shiite" on Wikipedia. Catholics and Protestants aren't burning each other at the stake anymore.
Obviously, he meant equivalent lumens to a 60W incandescent.
Fortunately, LED manufacturers seem to be more honest about these ratings. With CFLs, besides their other problems the manufacturers were calling 600 lumen bulbs "60W equivalent". Maybe a 130V rough service soft white that's blackened by a year of use!
You act like 160K miles is elite. I have an Olds Alero, and it has 154K on it. I replaced the front wheel bearings, window regulators (EVERY car manufacturer puts the same window hardware in coupes as they do in sedans and it ALWAYS fails because of the heavier glass), and windshield gaskets. Not perfect, but from what I've heard the reliability of German marques in the last 10 years is not what it once was.
Correct. And for a nonprofit PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION like the NFL, does it matter? They are not a charity, so they don't receive donations. But people understandably DO get upset when the CEO of the United Way makes over a million dollars a year and a bunch of middle managers make $200,000. They're donating money they worked for, and paid taxes on, only to have a large chunk of it be spent on payroll instead of helping people.
The non-profit status is a different issue. This is about their anti-trust exemption.
I don't care about their nonprofit status. Why? Because they don't make any profit. All NFL profits are disbursed to the teams, who pay taxes on them. That's pretty straightforward, and it's exactly how other professional nonprofits work.
So now, internet experts like you are calling everyone who doesn't necessarily dispute the existence of AGW, but disputes that it is the cause of every single event on earth, deniers?
That's like saying a human being isn't alive because the part we see is mostly a layer of nonliving kertin and dead skin cells.
A corporation is not a building. A corporation doesn't even need to have assets. One thing is does need is at least one living, breathing officer.
It's a necessary evil. Thanks to progress, racist murderers are no longer afforded such protection.

Where do you pull over and call when there is no shoulder? On on a limited-access highway, where non-emergency stops are prohibited?
I hope you recognize that yours was an extreme case.

In reality, the opposite happens. Employees who are part of a protected class often cannot be fired without a lawsuit.

The invention of the blue LED could garner both a Nobel AND an Ignobel for the abusive implementations.

We tried this before in the 1970s and it didn't work then.
"Progressives" aren't even progressives anymore. They simply change things for the sake of change. If it didn't work, it was someone else's fault.

You are disgusting witch-hunters.
Do you let people use your computer and dig through all your files?
I don't know. Everyone seems to think a mechanical engineer who hosted a kid's science show is an expert in climate science.
