Sure just because 1/10th of 1 percent of people think this way... x86 is going to be here for a while whether you like it or not. ...x86, the instruction set that refused to die...

At least amd cpus dont need heatsink retention mechanisms that bend the mobos. Also I believe that P4s actually have a higher wattage rating than tbreds of equivalent performance. Im basically saying that your heatsink dig is unfounded.

Err x86 architecture is important as it is what most programs were designed to run on. I dont want to have to go out and buy all new software just because a few people think that x86 is "crap".

AMD will probably still have the best bang for your buck desktop processors but they wont be as fast, and that is all right with me. I never buy the absolute fastest cpu as I do not like to pay out my ass for the litte bit of extra performance that is not absolutely necessary.

Heh. Ever hear of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Act? It banned the collection of soft money and its use after 11/06/2002. Most corporations give their suppossed "crooked" donations in this manner as hard money is tightly regulated and the best that the corporation could do is form a PAC (Political Action Committee) and donate 5k per election cycle per candidate. Only really crappy politicians can be bought for 5k (read so crappy that they dont deserve to be in office at all). Sometimes you guys are too cynical. What probably would help is if you guys that are registered voters would call your senators and reps and complain about the merger (and enough people complain) they will most likely put some pressure to stop the merger.

Its all about trade offs. Speed vs security vs mobility. If you are lucky you can pick a network system that has any 2 of the above 3. With IR you would get security and *limited* mobility, with wired you would get speed and security, and with WiFi you get *limited* speed and good mobility. You cant have your cake and eat it too people. I see no point in going wireless if it requires line of sight.
