If this was me I'd disable the WPA2, run the SSID as closed for security, and see if you can get on then. There have been problems with Linksys/Airport that I've seen before.
Who knows how the upgrade will work. It will probably work out to be expensive knowing Adobe. Depending on what you want to achieve even something like PS7 is really good and runs reasonably under Rosetta. For the vast majority of image manipulations that would be enough. I do a little PS in my spare time and have never really noticed much difference between PS7 and CS2 versions. There was a time when PS updates were really exciting but I think that was a while ago. Anyone remember when the undo buffer came along?
Sorry I caused offence - I didn't mean to. If you're using Tiger and have the latest updates WPA2 Personal & Enterprise are supported and seem to work fine in my experience. There's a link here to the Apple KB article:
The problem may be with the wireless router you're trying to connect to, perhaps its implementation of WPA2 is non-standard. I have seen that kind of issue relating to WiFi before.
I do agree with you though about poor quality error reporting that the airport system has. I've on occassion spent hours trying to figure out connectivity problems that don't seem to make any sense with just about zero information from the system to do it with.
I pretty much agree with that. The only thing that is bothering my Mac clients is the lack of Intel Adobe apps. It's getting slightly serious that situation. I installed a top-of-the-line MacPro this week with 4GB RAM for a graphics company. Should have seen their faces when I said "No, actually Photoshop is not going to run that fast on this machine - it's being interpreted on the fly".
2. My Mac can't connect to WPA2 protected wifi network. Windows machines (my friend's mind you) and Linux (my ThinkPad laptop) have no problems with my Linksys router. Mac will just say "Cannot connect to {foo} network" just this. Easy, intuitive, simple.
That isn't true. WPA2 is supported, run the latest airport updates. I too do this for a living.
Slightly silly observation: When you look at the BluRay logo and defocus your eyes a little it looks like 'blurry'. It gets worse the smaller the logo is reproduced. Well, makes me laugh anyway.
People don't seem to know that 'fascism' was the socio-economic paradigm of choice in the 20's and 30's. It's equivalent (or nearest) today is the 'free market economy'. Of course you're quite right about the US - the merger of state and corporation is technically fascism (tied together with the biggest propaganda machine the world has ever seen: the media). I think we're just in the 'benign' part of this new fascism and the next 10 years will begin to reveal the more sinister aspects of it.
You get a lot of SciFi where in the furture, corporations rule everything.
Actually we are already there. Corporate power transcends national boundaries now for instance. When I was growing up I read a great deal of SciFi and it staggers me how much has come to pass.
yes, exactly. I was a little shocked to see this in the summary:
Now might be a good time to delete any copies of the Anarchist's Cookbook you once read for amusement and still have floating around on your hard drive.
No, that's what they want you to do. This is manipulation through fear - a hallmark of 'terrorism'.
what ever happened to pets? to imagination? to communication skills?
Can't help but think of a man I used to know who thought he could talk to his dog and the dog would talk back. I don't know if he got it for Christmas though.
If you have any way of buying through the higher education store, then I would definitely advise this, since they now include a three year warranty with all hardware bought from there.
I didn't know that, it's a major plus given what we're saying.
I used to write this kind of glitch into my kludgy Commodore BASIC Vic20 programs when I was a kid. I never thought I was good enough to be a professional though. Seems like maybe there's a chance for me after this? I reckon the shuttle could run with BASIC if sensible line numbers were used. And GOSUBs for that professional touch.
we found out quite a lot about the July 7th bombers from CCTV
The main evidence used to posthumously charge the 4 men was the Luton station still. This frame has been quite obviously photoshopped. I know I'll be modded into oblivion for questioning this but I feel I should point it out because it bothers me a great deal. The CCTV system of the bus that exploded in Tavistock Square was uncharacteristically not working that day too.
As someone that maintains Macbooks and other Mac laptops I'd say that the quality control isn't good. This week a 14-month old 17" G4 went down with a motherboard problem - it's essentially a write off due to the massive price of a new board. Happens all the time. All I say to people is make sure you buy the AppleCare extended warranty, it's expensive but in the majority of cases worth it. However I think this advice applies to most laptops not Apple in general. It's also why I don't bother owning one anymore - an Apple desktop will last for 5-10 years with no problems - but it's a nightmare to lug about;-)
right, that's exactly what I thought. Is the #SN available at serialz.to yet? To be honest I haven't seen a virus since the 90s and wouldn't mind one again now. Oh the boredom of the OSX platform . . .
I knew about this. I got an email saying that all of PayPal's servers had blown up and they had lost all my personal and banking information. Luckily I simply followed the link they provided (things must be bad over there - they didn't even use the regular PayPal URL) and updated all my info. Thanks to PayPal for their quick customer service and helping me avert this little disaster.
Were eBay affected by this? I've just got an email from them now . . .
Even OSX has numerous variants of 'brushed metal' in Tiger. I don't think anyone knows why they are interfering with the consistency of the interfaces like that.
I don't understand feng-shui by any means but, as a psychologist, there are scientific reasons behind colour meanings as used for instance in the Luscher colour test.
I've no idea how this would apply to a website but I do accept that colours induce physiological responses and it may be possile to use these in design.
I agree with you Jane Q. Trouble is though that I've been thinking that way since around 2000/01 and I still haven't been proven right. (Apart from if you look at MSs share price since 2000 - that tends to back up my belief) I'm of the opinion that *nix has won the OS wars and can be the only sensible way forward. If the world could agree on a general OS to use things would be so much easier for everyone. Standardizing on Win was wrong because MS are a company out for profit and not necessarily for the benefit of mankind. Open source code is the only way that the computing experience can continue to grow properly.
MS are basically being overwhelmed by complexity (as has happened to many huge systems in the history of engineering) and will not be able to overcome this. My prediction is MS has about 10 years left before it crumbles to pieces - once they lose the monopoly advantage they will fall very quickly. It is really the only advantage they have as everyone else does stuff much better than them now.
Either you're smoking something illegal, or you're woefully uninformed.
Or doesn't have a screwdriver?
To the GP, the WD vs Seagate thing is mad. Seagate wins everytime.

If my Grandma gets a Zune and squirts anything at me I'm going to fetch a cloth quick.

We have too though. It's called MySpace.
I've heard you can type much faster in Word2007. If that's not a reason to upgrade I don't know what is.

Hopefully this will be easy to implement on the /. forums. Changing 'anonymous coward' to 'anonymous criminal' should do it.
Much as I dislike ACs making crappy comments on my posts I seriously do not want them criminalised for it.

Worth looking at this chart to see my point.
