means creating the database, designing an interface to recieve exceptions, an administrative interface to view reported exceptions
In windows there is the event log and writing code to write to the event log is trivial.
The problem with assasination politics is that extreme measures are almost always the exclusive domain of extremists.
So, for an abitrary example, David Duke would be quite safe, while Bill Clinton would probably be taken out.
I was thinking the same thing on one of our test systems, and then I remembered that we modified to hash the username and password, which pretty much defeats this database.
I don't know much about encryption, but I'm pretty sure windows doesn't just hash the pwd.
Huh? This is not a fine and whether it is like a $5 tip to the rest of us is completely irrelevant.
MS have won a major lawsuit against a spammer (which we should all be happy with) and are giving away the proceeds to other organisations. They could have just pocketed the money and left it at that.
Is that what you're saying they should have done? Or are you just karma whoring on anti-ms cynicism?
Speaking strictly in terms of profits, Nintendo is in fact a much better console manufacturer.
Yes but for how long? MS and Sony have taken the losses in order to kill of the competition and a 80% decrease in profits means they're doing a good job of it.
Once this culling process is over they stand to make huge profits, but Nintendo will fall below the threshold level and into obsucurity.
It has everything to do with politicians who want to get noticed, companies who want to stay relevant and software developers who want to sell product.
Yes, but the difference is that under copyright law, I can require that you not make copies of my site just so that you continue to come to my site to get updated versions of things.
Yes, but the very act of viewing a website requires that you make a copy of the website.
So how can someone require that you not make copies and at the same time force you to make a copy?
Are you serious? User's benefit from faster downloads in a P2P environment, but it's still nowhere near as fast as a direct download from a fat pipe (at least in my experience).
Especially considering that bittorrent downloads normally take a while to get up to steam.
Since when does saying "I don't know" hurt your credibility? Or do you expect him to to know every technical detail of every product in an x billion dollar company?
It would have been easy enough for him to just have said some gumpf, but he didn't. This gets plus points in my book.
It just doesn't work that way. Fact is companies are under enormous stress (from shareholders) to increase profits year by year.
You can do this 1 of 2 ways, either increase revenue or decrease costs.
So the cost saving is *never* passed on to the consumer, it's passed on to the shareholder, via a larger reported profit and an increase in the share price.
They also have that incestous relationship thing going. 99% of a typical bloggers audience are other bloggers who are sort of hoping that if I read your blog you may read my blog too.
first you trash someone else's theory and come up with your own crackpot one (vader from invader), then when prooof is offered you go all "revionism" and it doesn't sound like "Fah-der".
or even dodgeit.com
I have the same problem. Permanent ringing in my ears. Most of the time it is not annoying, but when in silence it becomes more pronounced.
I listen to earphones for much of the day during work, but i think going to loud clubs and concerts when younger is more to blame.

Well I also like Gmail Drive, it's kindof a neat feature though it's not supported by Google.

Right, just imagine using this for gaming.. it can't be good :/

I often overlook them unless I'm actually searching for a product.
Just imagine how much money they could make if they were to.... make the ad flash!
IMO this has got nothing (much) to do with sex.
It has everything to do with politicians who want to get noticed, companies who want to stay relevant and software developers who want to sell product.

Didn't Morris release the worm for research and it just got out of hand?
He had no intention of causing damage. It's the difference between manslaughter and 1st degree murder - which is quite a big difference.
Well I wouldn't trust an anti-spyware product from any 1 organisation be it microsoft or lavasoft.
That's why I run at least 2, keeps the others honest. MS's is pretty cool though 'cause it has real time tracking.

Give me txt file configs any day of the week.
.net? you've got your .config files now which are pretty much the same as old .ini files 'cept in xml.
heard of
Interestingly Canada, with a large broadband base, is only ranked at number 11 *per capita*. That's pretty impressive.
Is that the worst name possible for a product? What does it mean?
If I recall correctly the EU specifically requested that MS change the name to this from "Reduced Media version".
All it does though is make it incrediably confusing for the consumer, the one they are trying to protect.
Why not just create a "travel" email account. And then who cares if it gets hacked or not.
Well yeah it did work for MS.
Just like Sid Meier claimed that Civilisation only became popular cause it was cracked really early.
XP Activation is going to be the end of MS.
