    Even if you don't run fiber, lay larger conduit that will allow you to "fish" other types of cables through later (even beyond wireless)

    Anything to make Linux easier is a plus, however there is one Windows and many, many Linux distros, this is like dividing the cause. However it does provide for far more flexibility and doesn't lock you into any one company.

    I all for Linux as much as the next person, but developers have to live too and they are going to develop for the market that has more potential buyers. Its the catch 22, more people need to use Linux before there are more good programs, and developers will not put as much effort into Linux programming until there are more people using it.

    Very true, but unless you have a widescreen TV then the letter box format can be very poor.

    You can, but I don't believe there is much documentation on it. I am a Windows programmer, but am starting to learn Gtk programming now. The article at http://usb.cs.tum.edu/usbdoc/ may be helpful to learn about USB on Linux.

    There is already such a beast, Mimic . If you have not seen it there is a deadly disease in New York that is spread by cockroaches so they make a a genetically engineered one that will kill the others (or something along those lines), but the problem is they don't work out quite as planned.

    Okay, Okay I get the hint! I usually write pretty decent replies so what's the deal if I have a link to a site in my sig? I admit I may have been pushing it in some posts where I added more links, but they were all relevant too. Another albeit more interesting concept is that none of the posters commenting about me will post under their own name. I have never once posted anonymously, and I'm proud of that (although I probably won't if big brother ever comes after me)

    If people are not paranoid about governments watching everything and placing every tidbit of information in huge underground databases then this is the article that will open eyes.

    I for one have never heard of this company before today and I'm pretty shocked. I've been pretty vocal about worries on TIA issues, but geeze...

    On the other hand perhaps it was better "before" when we the people didn't know about everything and just believed blindly in our government to protect us.

    The best thing about this conference is it is run by small business "net geeks". The whole total amount of this is $99 and instead of being either on the West Coast or the east cost, they are smack dab in the middle of the country. What more can you ask for in a great conference?

    This is what always makes me laugh when we get offers for TV service. We started with analog cable and we receive about 75 channels with basic service. Now they are offering digital cable and you have 300 some channels, and satellite companies keep calling and saying how they have 500+ channels. I know people with both digital and satellite, and they still can't find decent programming on.

    I learned QWERTY in school and in middle school I typed 80WPM. When I had to take a typing class in high school I was doing 130WPM, however now in the real world I don't have a set of sentences in front of me and I compose as I type.

    The only benefit I see is with the comfort level, typing 10 hours a day can hurt...

    This is very true, but the problem was exaggerated by investors that were too gung over "dot com hype" to carefully look at the financials that they would have done with any other sector.

    The Asterisk software seems much more advanced then the VoiceTronix. It doesn't appear that either solution has information about reliability, which would be my main concern with a phone system.

    I believe the basis of this lie with the funding going to computer improvements. Business knows computers sell and anything else is a bonus.
