People, get real! The cost of actually building the products is not the cost of production. Apple is a company with a large engineering staff. Engineers, who are very well paid. Apple also carries a very large HR, Finance and marketing teams, all whom are very well paid. So, where does the money come to pay these folks? The folks who think up the ipod and itunes and all the other secret stuff that apple thinks up? I'll tell you who pays, you do. When you buy and apple product. All those costs are put into the end price. In real life, the cost of actually making the thing is lower then all the overhead.

I see a lot of people saying this spells great news for apple computers. Well it may, but not in the way you think. Apple does not have a future in hardware. That much is clear. They will never be more then niche market provider. However, it seems to me that apple is laying the groundwork to makes its software fun on a PC. That is where they will make money. I would swith to an apple OS if I could keep my hardware. It's not the easiest thing to find gaming cards for a mac as many of you know. If suddenly, mac could run on ANY PC, you would begin to see other software companies port their wares to OS10 or whatever they're up to. Hardware is all the same to most people and in the end their experience is made or broken by its software.IMHO anyhow.

If they were testing UMTS(WCDMA), I have also seen that these phone really do have a lot more interferece.

    Besides,
have any of you ever turned on your mobile at 30k feet to see if you would get a signal? I have, and I didnt. Much of the western US has no coverage anyhow. In the cities sure, but planes tend to take routes over mountains and what not, so there are not a lot of towers around anyhow.

Then you can use the favorable exchange rate to buy up small American companies in the states of the jackasses writing this stuff and close them just for spite. I think that Google's interest in AOL represents an interest in content creation. However, I think google content dreams go way beyond that. I think that Google would like to use a partnership with Time Warner to either be a major distributor of TV shows via the Internet, OR...actually begin to PRODUCE TV content with for direct Internet distribution.
Google is not stupid, this is where TV is going. I know I would rather download a program in HDTV in 5-10min then wait for the time that bone head TV producer wants me to see it. Think about it...what kills a tv show?(other then it being crap) Time-slot!!! Think about Fire-Fly....It was great!! I really loved that show, but it was on at time I could not always watch it. Ya sure...I would like to tape it, but I dont even have a VCR and my Hard Drive was almost full. But what if I could just download it? Then, I get to watch my show, the bean counters get to know the ACTUAL ratings so then the good shows stay on....its perfect.
And yes I know, your grandmother has dial-up...I don't care...your GM doesnt watch fire-fly either so it's moot.

Uploading massive files while say, streaming HDTV(which wont happen on a main scale), hmmm, you must have one heck of a fast hard drive. I doubt most computers would cope. Shoot while I'm transfering huge data sets at work, it's not as though i can play an online game or something, cuz my machine is pinging. So, yes there are legal uses, but none that are any fun.
