You have no right to force/demand other human beings have sex with you to fulfil your "needs". That's pure misogyny.
Err, no..that's called "marriage".
That is part of the marital contract...and if you don't have sex enough with your mate, that is grounds for termination of said marriage in most states.
NO, you don't have expectation to be able to have sex with any stranger on the streets, but if you enter into marriage, that is something that IS expected and pretty much considered a right within that form of legal relationship.
Men and women alike want sex, men and women alike like relationships.
I think it is still a large difference between he sexes still.
Sure, women like sex, but they still by far have an emotional attachment to sex, that many if not most men do not always have or need to have in order to be satisfied. If that were not the case, you'd not see the porn industry the way it is, nor the larger market for prostitutes/escorts catering to men wanting sex with women for $$, and no emotional baggage to go with it.
I"d dare say it isn't a small group at all on either side of the gender fence with reference to the need to combine sex with emotion/relationship vs sex on its own.
She believes that they reinforce traditional stereotypes of women and the view that a relationship need be nothing more than physical."
I knew it had to be a chick raising these objections as soon as I read the reasoning.
Broadly speaking (no pun intended), females relate sex to emotional and relationship feelings and thoughts. While men do derive pleasure from combining "love" and sex, it isn't always necessary. Sex just by itself for physical pleasure is great and one doesn't always even need to know or remember her name.
Again, very broadly speaking, this isn't something in the female mentality, or at least it has not been....till recently I do see changes in female attitudes towards this..but I don't think it is still nearly as prevalent as with mens thinking and easy ability to separate emotion from the physical act.
It is often been said that one sure cure to world over population would be to perfect some sort of artificial sex, be it virtual or some type of robot, that is so real feeling.......and basically you'd have a ton of men who would have their physical needs fulfilled, without having to put up with the nagging, and emotional baggage that comes with women (not to mention potential unwanted kids). I fear female popularity would drop a good bit. Not saying it is a good or bad thing, but I could see it potentially happen.
I mean, there's an old joke that kinda sums it up....
In 3 years, the new roadster based on the Model 3 frame, will be out. Musk has said that it will blow the doors off ludicris speed, i.e. 0-100 km in 1.x secs. And for around 50-60K.
I'll have to look up what that means for 0-60mph in terms of time/speed, but it sounds fast, and that would certainly be in my price point range!!
Hey, at least someone is making an electric car that isn't FUGLY.
I was excited about electrics when Tesla had the roadsters out, but I just couldn't get one. Then tesla switched to only doing "family cars" and the like.
I wish they'd out together a good looking, 2 seater sports car that was all electric, in the price range of maybe a corvette? Something affordable.
I'm sure the Porsche will be out of my price range again, but at least someone is making an electric car that doesn't look ass ugly, or that a boring family of five's family truckster, ready to head to Wally World.
Geez...WTF made you so scared of driving on the roads?
What frightens you so much, that you think we need all these safeguards, and nanny state technology to control us fellow humans on the road?
Does going over the speed limit frighten you? Even if road conditions make it safe to do so?
Driving for whatever is safe in a particular area makes the roads safe for everyone. I don't need the govt or big brother watching out for me, and I'm certainly not fearful of driving on the roads today without them. I've been doing that for a long time...
Not if you're going to use your car on a shared, publicly-owned road. I think black box recording should be mandatory on the public roads.
This shared open roads argument is getting ridiculous. What's next? Mandatory silencing of radio/music when on the "shared roads"? Reporting of distracting kids in the car or yelling at each other? I mean, you think this is going to a ridiculous level, but who a few years ago, would have suspected a fucking black box tracking all your driving? Insurances with gadgets (voluntary for now) that track even more than the black boxes? Installation of tracking services like OnStar...which now are not an option when you buy a new car like they used to be?
We've had it just fine on the shared publicly owned roads for decades now, without having this type of intrusive, electronic surveillance and got along perfectly good.
I knew this type of thing would happen...back years back when they started putting cameras in public schools for "safety".
Well, you just get kids used to surveillance and they then accept it for normal and "good".
What one generation accepts, the next generation embraces.
Screw it, I'm gonna buy and old 60's-70's muscle car, with no computer and no tracking..and hell if old enough, no fucking emissions bullshit.
I'll keep it running, have fun....and what the hell I can afford the gas.
But it's not tracking. It's not even available until there's an accident, much like a flight recorder on a plane. If you have an issue with tracking, speak up about OnStar, UConnect, BlueLink, etc. THOSE involve tracking.
But I should be able to choose if I "want" a flight..err...driving recorder black box type machine installed in my car. And as for the OnStar, Uconnect....next car I get if it has this, it will be disconnected, and rendered unable to be accessed externally, at least wirelessly.
Basically every car since 2010 stores at least 30 seconds of logging data before (and if possible after) any collision which triggers the airbag. That includes the complete engine state and all the inputs like accelerator position and brake light switch status. What they're talking about now is just standardizing what is already there.
Well, then..thankfully for me, my car is older than 2010...but still I need to research further to make sure.
They also expect cars to start carrying "black boxes" that will help crash investigators figure out exactly what caused an accident.
Really? Hmm...just one MORE thing to have spying on me and my habits? I guess now I need to learn how to remove said black box, or if it can't be removed, to rig it to be "destroyed" after a wreck and make it plausible that the accident caused the problems?
Really I just don't want to be tracked any more!!! Fitbit to see how I live, black boxes to see my driving habits, using my cell phone to track my movements.
I would love this. This would be highly motivating to me. It's ironic that they are more free in China in this way.
I hear ya.
Heck, if they did this, combined with say, a beer machine or just a simple keg....I'd come to work early, stay late, and hell, would be just fine if I had a hangover to come in, as that hair of the dog and cheerleaders would be there!!
Yep, the good old fashioned way of doing this is looking for the "CLAP" on the waveform and lining it up with the video.
However, if you want something very polshed and fancy and automatic....take a look at Davinci Resolve 12 Beta.
This is the free version that contains about 98% of the $1K paid version...what's missing likely you won't miss either....it is now a full blow NLE that compete with Premier and FCPX and others...
You can do some amazing sync'ing of multi-clip video and sound with this thing..take a look at the demos on site.
Unfortunatley, the Linux version is only available for Paid version, but hell, who doesn't have a mac or windows box laying around? I mean, if you have money for a decent video set up, you've already poured out some decent cash (camera, lights, software....hell, lenses ALONE)....surely you have laying around a win/osx box or can buy one.
But, do give Davinci Resolve 12 a look...they also have out Fusion, which is IMHO, going to be a competitor to Adobe After Effects too for SPFX....worth looking into too.
f Uber and other "share services" get away with their violation of labor laws, there won't be other kinds of jobs. Uber and similar companies are very efficient at extracting money from both their clients and their employees. If they get away with this "contractor" fraud, then every other company will be forced to play the same game. We will be an economy of serfs, all taking "bids" for piecework.
Hey, not ALL jobs are meant to be full time, earn a living at jobs!!
Things like Uber and even burger flippers are meant for extra income on the side, or maybe even a first entry job to learn the foils and merits of having a job.
Never EVERY job out there merits or is supposed to be a job a grown fucking adult earns a living for a family with.....
If you and your boss go all-out in negotiating anything to do with your compensation, who is in a worse position if the end result is that you walk?
Well, if you know your worth in the market place and ARE worth that value in the market place...if your current employer isn't paying your enough, then of course YOU win.
If you are already getting paid enough or more for your current skill set and worth, then you are best served by shutting up, being happy with what you have, while you on the side, strive to study or do whatever it takes to increase your value over others in the workforce so that you quality and are worth more $$$.
Ideally, a grown adult would know and negotiate based on this prior to employment, no?
We are talking about grown, adults responsible for their own lives and actions, right?
So yeah, sometimes, in a crappy market, service jobs like Uber are all that there are. McD's BK, Walmart, etc, are about all that's available. And when that happens, and a person doesn't have the wherewithal to go into business for themselves in a way that works economically, then, yes, you HAVE to work for the service companies.
So, you're arguing that EVERYONE else has to suffer not having choice and ability to work as they please to cater to the lowest common denominator??
You act like society owes everyone a basic level of lifestyle? Life is tough, and it is up to YOU to make your way through it.
I don't mind basic safety nets, like for the informed or old, or disabled, but if you're able bodied, you're on your own, user your wits and your means to succeed.
But it isn't up to me or anyone else to support you on any basic level of quality of life. I don't owe you anything. Why should I?
Last time I went to buy a car (2010) I was told by two different dealerships (Hyundai and Ford) that requesting anything was no longer "a thing" (though I could buy an aftermarket radio upgrade at full price plus installation and no, they won't deduct the cost of the basic radio from the car). You can't even ask for them to get a car in a certain color (in my case, silver, not some freaky special order limited edition "burnt yellow ice" or whatever). You can buy what they've got on their lot or you can take your money and shove off. Ended up buying a Honda (they had a silver car in stock, so I don't know if they'd have stonewalled me as well).
Wow..that's strange. I mean, on both the Ford and Hyundai websites, you can select and build out any model of their car offerings you want.....
I know they want to sell you one from stock, but as far as I know, choosing your car model, color and whatever options are available (some cars do have very limited options, but others have more) is still in the cards for most car shoppers.
It is just the wireless, phone home control centers in cars that I don't want....hell, I'd actually prefer mechanical analog gauges....one less thing to break due to some electrical gremlin....
The only fix for the security problems with Onstar and any similar system is total removal of the hardware and software!!!!!
Or at least the car manufacturers should give the purchaser the OPTION on whether to have this hardware/software installed or not.
It used to be an "option"...why did it become now a standard fixture. Sadly it seems these systems are so integrated now, you can't keep the car functioning without them.
It should be a modular thing that you can request to have or not have....
Are there any good ways to disable OnStar and the Uconnect apps, and prevent them from communicating wirelessly at least?
Err, no..that's called "marriage".
That is part of the marital contract...and if you don't have sex enough with your mate, that is grounds for termination of said marriage in most states.
NO, you don't have expectation to be able to have sex with any stranger on the streets, but if you enter into marriage, that is something that IS expected and pretty much considered a right within that form of legal relationship.
Ah...the GOOD old days!!

"Why did God give women tits?"
"So men would talk to them...."
I'll have to look up what that means for 0-60mph in terms of time/speed, but it sounds fast, and that would certainly be in my price point range!!
I just hate to wait 3-4 more years!!
I was excited about electrics when Tesla had the roadsters out, but I just couldn't get one. Then tesla switched to only doing "family cars" and the like.

Actually, yes. Between myself and my lawyer. And I should not have my property testifying against me.
Well, then..thankfully for me, my car is older than 2010...but still I need to research further to make sure.

Enough...FUCKING ENOUGH!!

The ideal work environment!!
Yeah, but the Chinese policy of "Pay for your own bullet" kinda keeps things in check.
No wonder they're kicking our ass here in the US.
"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't allow that...."
If worse comes to worst...he could run windows in a VM on Linux..and use Pluraleyes, or even Davinci Resovle as I'd suggested....
