Yep..once they get out and start earning and having to live off their OWN money, and start seeing how much the govt takes off the top in taxes, they start naturally getting a bit conservative and want to keep more of their own hard earned bucks.
You don't need to worry. This proposal has ZERO chance of becoming law. There is no way that a Republican congress is going to run up the debt to fund Obama's pet project. The only reason that Obama is even proposing it is so the Republicans can reject it, and then the Dems can use it against them in 2016.
Trouble is...Obama doesn't seem to know or care about what the constitutional limitations on Presidential powers are supposed to be. I pretty much will count on him doing and Executive Action (Decree) for this and try to bypass congress.
Blackjack is the other casino game that can be "beaten". It's played against the house, but the house plays like a robot, and its only advantage is that it takes double busts (hands where both the the player's cards and the dealer's cards total more than 21). The player has plenty of advantages, including double payout for player A-10, the "insurance" side bet on dealer A-10, split A and 8, double down on 10 or 11, and standing on less than 17. There's a basic strategy that by itself makes the house advantage negligible, and if you can mentally estimate when A-10 is more likely, you can know when to bet higher and when to insure. This was enough for the MIT Blackjack Team to turn a modest profit.
I gotta go look that one up again. I could swear everything I've ever read on Blackjack, basic strategy, etc....says never take insurance, that is is a loser for the player.
I'd rather have an educated society than not. Wouldn't you?
That's what the public school system is supposed to be for, to give a basic education that can be used going forward in life. Let's get that better, eh?
But why should I have to pay even MORE in taxes to send someone to college. I may need that money to send my OWN kids to school. That money could have been used to save since my kids were born in order to have money put aside for their college when they got old enough. Why should I pay for others that didn't plan and save like I did?
I'm sorry, I am not my brothers keeper.
If people can afford college, there are trade schools that are MUCH more affordable and give students skills that frankly are more directly applicable to getting a good job than many college courses do to prepare them for a job.
Hell, most of the people I know, self included, have careers that have NOTHING to do with the degrees they achieved.
Not everyone needs to go to college, If they can't afford it, there are very good living levels to be made by learning a trade. Hell, plumbers around here make more than some GP physicians at the lower levels.
Not much difference there, one is a stepping stone to the other one, the former of which seems to follow the religions guide book more closely than the latter.
This kind of competition doesn't stop at college, it continues through your adult life, it is part of the dog eat dog world we call the workplace where you have to fight to win, and move up the ladder.
I suspect they were put off by the constant one-upmanship and trying to make other people look stupid that goes on.
Err, I think that is called competition, it is what drives the workforce and helps drive people to exceed expectations, and innovate. This is the type of things that produces those folks that come out on top and drive invention and the economy.
If you can't hack it...try something else, you know?
No..everyone should NOT get a trophy just for trying.
Equality in education is needed before people can get those qualifications.
There IS equality in education...or, are you seriously saying that women are turned away from IT related classes because of their sex??
They don't register because for some reason, it just doesn't fucking interest them...could that possibly be the reason?
I think if this could have been shown to be true in only ONE case we'd have had a firestorm about this on the news, the college system there would have sunk and we'd have the idiots in congress holding hearings.
Sorry, I don't buy it. And you can't and should force people to study or work for things in life that just plain don't interest them.
Opportunity is there equal for all....but not everyone wants the same opportunities and results. Why can't people be different?
You know, if these asshole muslims quit cutting people fucking heads off and just yelled at them and video taped them letting their woman drive, or whatever bat shit crazy muslim law was being broken, I'd not be concerned about them.
Comparing people yelling outside a clinic to asshat zealots that strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up in a crowd of people in a hotel, or shooting up folks that draw harmless cartoons is just beyond stupid. There is NO comparison.
Seriously...lets tally up over the past say 2-5 years the number of atrocities that the peace loving muslims have enacted upon folks around the world vs the anti-abortionists and see how that scorecard looks at the end.
you cannot kill as a Christian
That certainly doesn't seem to stop them from doing it anyway [wikipedia.org]
Yeah...but right now in this day in age, I'm not terribly concerned about all the Baptists running around beheading people, running around as suicide bombers, and shooting up news offices and killing innocent people.
And PLEASEdon't give me shit about the anti-abortionists, they are fringe and rarely happen. Every group has a few fringe elements, but with the muslims, this is happening so often and so pervasive around the world, I don't think anyone can consider this type of action a fringe element.
I guess it is outside the bounds of consideration that IT and tech interests in general might just be different between the sexes (genetic wiring) and even with races/ethinc lines due to culture they're raised in.
Is diversity for diversity's sake that important when it comes to coding something? 1's and 0's are pretty color and sex blind and don't seem to care who is juggling them around.
While I think the opportunities for anyone QUALIFIED to get jobs in the industry, why is it so important what the spread of the numbers are? What is the driving force to try to force behaviors and interests on folks just to manipulate a statistic? Often this leads to lowering the qualification bar just to get in someone from a category of birth.
I'm seeing more and more "smart" car features being introduced.
Is there a way to disable these collections without disabling the car doing its basic function, driving? I saw something recently about the internet connected car. What if I don't WANT it connected to the internet, don't want it sending information off to God knows where?
Is it easy to disable? The other day I asked a dealer if you could get a Vette without OnStar as an option and he said no. That concerned me.
Because when you are in a public place you have no right to the expectation of privacy.
Well, these expectations or lack thereof...were basically thought of with respect to things humans can sense, through hearing and eyesight (visible and audible spectrum).
However, gathering info like this with digital communications, I think this is different and you should have expectations of privacy. Tracking you electronically is not something they should readily be able to do without a warrant. This is nothing but a big fishing trip for the FBI, and in the past it has been struck down as overly broad, as this should be too!!
But, I still consider a phone a phone although the calendar and GPS work well with that.
However when I want to shoot serious images, I have a dedicated DSLR for that, a 5D3. For my music that I like to listen to in as good a quality as I can, I have a nice system for home and I prefer to have as nice as I can for out and about too.
I know the gym and the car are probably the worst listening environments available and that's why I don't mind doing mp3 for that, but if flac were available portable and at the same price for a player, I'd be a market for that.
I generally dislike using my phone for media consumption as that I don't want to run out of battery when out and about and not be able to call or text in an emergency situation.
There's currently nothing illegal about making your own guns with other methods, why should we worry about 3D printers making the parts for them?
As long as you aren't making a fully automatic weapon, it is perfectly legal today to make your own guns by any means (CNC, 3D printer, holodeck...etc).
If they price this thing in the ballpark of an iPod, I'll buy it.
I do with they'd offer a hard drive version of the thing, I still love my iPod classic for my main traveling music player so that I can fit most all of my music collection on it as well as some video and podcasts. This is the one I keep in the car and fly with...the smaller ones are just for the gym with a sub selection of my stuff.
But I have longed for a good portable player I could use with flac which is what I have my music ripped to on my living room BIG system (tube amps, klipschorn speakers, etc).
Netflix has a good price point; cheap enough that you put up with the few things you can't get and the fact that some stuff is a year old
But, if you are *only* watching Netflix, as things come down the pipe, they are new to you...so, does it really make a difference?
I rarely go see a movie in a theater upon release. I wait until they come out on bluray or netflix, so they are new to me, although they have been out for awhile previously.
I've never understood people that have to see it first thing as it is released, and wait in lines, etc...
What's the 0-60mph times?
Torque can you burn tires with this?
Does it look cool, or just another boring family car?
Yep..once they get out and start earning and having to live off their OWN money, and start seeing how much the govt takes off the top in taxes, they start naturally getting a bit conservative and want to keep more of their own hard earned bucks.

This is nothing new....

The muslims seem to be itching to start the crusades again, ok...but this time lets finish this shit once and for all.
Yeah...but right now in this day in age, I'm not terribly concerned about all the Baptists running around beheading people, running around as suicide bombers, and shooting up news offices and killing innocent people.

Gotta love those peace loving muslims...
Geez, I gotta get some coffee in me and read before I hit submit.

I'd use the camera on a phone over a point and shoot, but for real picture taking I take my DSLR...
My Klipschorn Speakers would beg to differ with you....

I wonder how long before Red Barchetta becomes a fact of life rather than a dismal tune about a dystopic future?
