"Oh no not ugly, because of course the first function of a car is to look cool."

I've never owned anything in my life but 2-seat sports cars (ok, the 911 turbo technically was a 4-seater, but no one really could sit in the back).

Do I buy cars like this for what other people think? No.

I just happen to enjoy performance cars, cars that are fun to drive. Unlike some people, a car is not merely a means to get from point A to point B. Every time I get in one of my cars, it is an adventure. I like to crank up the tunes and hit the road. Sometimes, fun to turn off the music, and listen to a nicely tuned exhaust note. Performance and looks of a car are the #1 things important to me (aside from price tag), I could care less about fuel consumption. I have a good job, I can afford gas, no problem.

I'm not the only one out there that enjoys a good car like this...so, if they want everyone to be actually interested in an efficient car...make it handle well, tweak out performance..and make it look good. If you can get the price tag reasonable...that would seal the deal.

I'd LOVE to get a Tesla. If they could get it down to the price of a standard Corvette...I'd have one.

It isn't a matter of growing up...unless your definition of growing up is to give up the things in life that excite and amuse you? If so, I feel sorry for ya.

Life is WAY too short to compromise and live dully....I try to find things every day to make my day worth living and fun. I ain't gonna be here forever, so, I'm making the most of every minute I have here. Fun cars are one of the many treats I give myself.

However, shooting invading foreigners while not funny...makes sense I think. We need to do something to protect our borders, hell it is one of the FEW enumerated powers the federal govt. is supposed to have and do per the Constitution.

I have no problem with immigrants who come over through legal channels. Like Dennis Miller once said....I don't care if you want to come over, just sign the fucking guest book on the way in..

We can regulate, and ensure we are getting good people, and keep the criminal element out. I'm for streamlining the immigration policy and laws. But I think we need to have a serious deterrent to people illegally crossing our borders and invading our soil. I'd have no problem with having a no man's land section, and let our military sharpshooters get practice taking out anyone coming across where they shouldn't be. In lieu of that...lets put land mines all along the border.

I mean...anyone not crossing at the designated checkpoints, can't be up to any good...so, lets deter their asses. If we can't build a fence, lets mine it or put up snipers to guard it. I'll be after criminals trying to cross illegally see some head shots and people blowing up...that'll stop that illegal crossing real fucking quick.

Yes, I live in NOLA. I exaggerated a bit, but not too much. Sure I see sidewalks, I am lucky to live in one of the safer neighborhoods down here...I walk my dog around the block...when weather warms up, I'll walk over to City Park. But aside from that...there are MANY sidewalks down here you don't wanna be walking on...you could get mugged and/or shot. And to do daily things in life like work...buy groceries, shop for anything...etc...walking just isn't a viable method of transport. I was saying in most US cities, walking just isn't useful for anything but some occasional exercise for you and your pet.

I'm actually fortunate enough to live not far from the newer streetcar lines, and when I want to hit the Quarter, and not deal with parking (and not on my motorcycle which makes that easier)...I hop on the street car. But you can't depend on it for times, etc...so, it has to be a day when you're not in a hurry or on a tight schedule. Often I ride down in the day, but have to catch a cab home if I wanna get home at any decent hour. Public transportation and walking/biking are just not practical for daily life needs in most cities.

What I'm talking about, and what the guy got busted for was likely as being a contractor...a one person S corporation. What I described was say that you worked and through your company..billed $120K a year. You paid yourself a salary of only $40K out of that.on which you pay SS, medicare, state and federal taxes. At the end of the year...the remaining $100K 'falls through' to your personal taxes. Now..that remaining amount (minus business deductions) is taxed ONLY for federal and state...you don't pay SS and medicare on that money....hence your savings.

Your 'salary' you pay yourself has to be a 'reasonable' amount...on what you charge basically, to manage your own company and employee(s)..

It is a tax loophole basically for the common man. Perfectly legal, as long as you don't get greedy and don't pay SS and medicare on enough of what you bill.

You can easily do this in an S corp....in fact that's why most people set them up.

But you just have to pay yourself a 'reasonable' salary. For instance, if you bill like $120K roughly...then pay yourself a salary of $40-$50K....pay employer taxes on that...and the rest can fall through.

Only declaring $24K salary on almost $400K is just asking for the IRS to kick you in the balls.

Of course, with the Feds spending the country into oblivion, they may start looking even at people paying reasonable (according to the vague rules that have worked for decades) and try to fsck with them. Sad...this was about the last and only way to keep a proper amount of one's earnings from Uncle Sam.
