"I'm smart, fit, make a lot of money and I'm told that I'm reasonably good looking. However, I only starting having success with women when I realized that being arrogant about that sort of stuff is a good thing. Don't be modest."
Honestly, I was that way too for WAY too long. Then, I started to think like you, and the world started changing for me. I don't chase women anymore. I approach them, and give them a look at who I am, and what I have to offer, and they should be so lucky to hook up with me. I let them know I'm a fun guy, I enjoy life, and if they're good to me, I'll take them along for the ride.
But, I don't supplicate her...I'll happily let them pay for their own way or even buy ME stuff. I get no 'rejection' because, I really don't give a shit if they react or not, there's always another one better looking and a better person just around the corner. You never take things personally. Once you start to think this way, and get over approachment anxiety, it gets much easier in life. Once over that, going for, going out with and enjoying women gets a lot better, and actually becomes fun.
That's why I think it is best to never get married.
At worst...just live with them, it is kind of like "leasing with an option to buy".
But I don't think any woman is really worth me losing half my shit, if I happen to find a newer model I like better in the future, you know?
I mean, if you want to have kids...yeah, you need to get married. But, that's nothing I've ever really wanted...so, I see no reason to lay it on the line to legally find myself liable to lose half of everything I've worked for. OH, and even living with them...varies from state to state as to how long before they can lay claim to your stuff even without getting hitched.
"For those of us who have entered the age where our more jockly peers are becoming less jockey and more pudgy, that second part still actually holds true."
It really isn't all THAT much (within reason) of looks, or money with the majority of women out there. It is a great deal about how you project your attitude towards yourself, life, and them. Your body language speaks loads...women really pick up on things like that. How you show your social value, that is something they pick up on. And, how you project confidence in yourself, and everything you do.
Sure, everyone like to pick on the good looking jock out there getting the good looking women. But honestly, go people watch. You will quite often see a drop dead babe, with a guy that really ain't so much in the build or looks dept. No, it isn't always money either.
"Yeah women are great until you fall in love with them, then they become a fucking nightmare."
Yeah, but what are ya going to do? You need to fuck something, and they have the parts that fit best for a guy.
That being said...you have to learn how they think, and you can use it against them, or at least...to your benefit. There's lots of guys out there that have studied this...do a little googling on PUA's, and you can find a lot of info out there on how female psych works. Basically society has been brainwashing men the wrong way about a lot of things, especially how to act around and treat women. Deep down, they really DO want men to take the initiate, be the leader of the group, etc.
Not saying be a jackass, but know what it is to be a man, confident in how you act and know what YOU want. Be there to lead her. A woman doesn't respect a man she can walk all over...that I think that's what you alluding to in your statement. If you try to bend over backwards to give her everything, she'll take it....and likely will be fucking someone else on the side that is more of a bad boy, etc.
However, that being said. the timing for breakups seems bad in the article. The best time to break up with a chick, is before Valentine's day...save yourself some cash. Just get back with her before "Steak and Blow-job" day....
Honestly..I don't think it is my imagination or perception on outliers.
I've got friends with kids...in the 10-13yr age. I've gone with them to the schools to pick up their kids (boy and girl)..and I was shocked...MOST of the girls in that same young age group (my friend's daughter included)...all had freakin' tits. I'm not talking just developing, little ones..but full blow boobs of an older teen/young woman.
Something is afoot...I really do wonder if it is all the hormones in foods today.
When I was young...one or two girls that developed like that were the outliers that got ALL the attention. Now? It seems all the girls are maturing way too early and at very early ages.
"So if they make me a miniature liver, does that mean I can only drink those little 8oz beers?"
I don't think so..either you plug a bunch of them together for form normal function. Or, perhaps, all the growth hormones we injest from our food would help make it grow to full size once implanted.
It must work, I mean...have you see the tits on young girls these days?!?!? They sure didn't have them like that when I was young. I'm talking grade school young too...ouch! Glad I'm not the father to one and have to keep the boys off them.
I don't care that much about all that...I'm just waiting for them to make one of these green/electric cars that just isn't fugly. Can they not make one that looks like a Porsche, Vette or Tesla, but not cost more than about $40K, and have some performance specs?
Until then...not interested. Put something that looks nice, with curves, something that raises the testosterone levels a bit, eh?
I've jailbroken my iPhone 3GS. I tried the terminal app...and it crashees on startup.
Anyone have any links on all the terminal programs (that work) available for the jailbroken iPhone that this story alludes to? Any free solutions? I thought that was one of the main things jailbreaking the phones was all about...
"It's not good to have music so loud in your ears that you can't hear what's happening around you. Get yourself noise-cancelling headphones instead. I've heard good things about the QC-15 from a friend."
I don't play them loud.
These are Shure EC530's...they're in the ear canal monitors....you stuff them in, and even without music playing on them, you can't hardly hear anything with them in.
They function quite well as noise cancelling...great on flights too...the airplane just disappears, and they are fairly low powered, since they are in the ear canal...my iPods seem to have longer battery life with these than the stock earphones.
"You preferred Ewoks? Are you fucking kidding me?"
As a kid, I really didn't notice them being terribly bad. Not my favorite characters, but certainly better that fucking Jar-Jar.
But over all, yes, I liked the movie better. It had a beginning, middle and exciting end with the heroes winning, like in the first one (at the time only 3).
Empire Strike Bad...didn't feel like a real movie, it was mostly just filler to link the first and last one. It was dark, and didn't have resolution at the end.
It certainly wasn't what I was expecting as a kid who had eagerly waited for the second Star Wars movie, after seeing the first one like 6-8 times on first release.
That impression of it from then...still colors my impression of it now like I'd mentioned in the OP.
"You're the kind of person that I pay lots of personal visits to. I'm sure it makes my face a dreaded on, but I am a huge fan of going to talk to people face to face because it gets my stuff done."
And you're the type of person I point to my earbuds stuffed into my ears, and tell you I can't hear, to send me an email and I'll get back to ya.
:)
With me...an email will get you quicker action than coming into my cube, interrupting my train of thought and current work because you think your stuff has immediate priority over what I'm currently working on, and everyone else with work queued up in front of you who submitted it earlier.
Why don't you trust my judgement as to what work requires priority?
You assume your question about a SQL statement overrides my current work to restore a server that crashed and is preventing, let's say PAYROLL information from getting processed?
"Personally, I do the opposite; I encourage emails and discourage phone and walk-ins. With email, you can safely disregard it for a while and get back to it later, but not so much the other two methods. I've been at my new job since April and have yet to connect to the voicemail system and initialize my box. I'm that frickin' serious about not taking phone calls. Wait... Am I crazy here?"
I'm with you.
I do have voicemail working...and many if not most of my calls go to it.
While at my desk, I have my shure earbuds stuffed in my hears, with the iPod playing away.
I do not hear the phone when it rings...and if anyone walks in my cube, they have to basically shoot a flare gun off to get my attention.
I can get work done this way without interruptions, aside from the periodic breaks from typing when a particularly great song is on, and I have to sporadically airband a guitar or drum solo.
Email...alerts pop up at the bottom of my screen which I glance at...if it is important I'll look at it....etc.
People talking to me in meatspace, or on the phone...break concentration, stop me at times not of my convenience or choice. I prefer email. I'll get back to you when I take a break or change albums.
Seriously....The Empire Strikes Back was the "best" of the movie series??
I dunno, I remember being excited to see the sequel to Star Wars in the theater...and frankly, was disappointed in how it ended...just kinda stopped.
I wasn't expecting a middle chapter of a movie, it ended on a sour note, unlike the first one, etc.
I enjoyed it for it being a Star Wars movie, and I will admit I've warmed up to it more over the years, but my first impressions as a teen watching it back in the day, after waiting for it for so long..I was disappointed and I admit, that still effects my opinion of it to this day.
I much preferred the last one, Return of the Jedi to the Empire Strikes back.
"Generally unavoidable, although they could do a better job, most of the time. We have the most important cases in the country being written by wet-behind-the-ears clerks, once. They're good clerks, but their words become law. One of the biggest developments in eminent domain in the last 20 years came from a case where the clerks were trying to finish an opinion over the weekend without making any new law, for example."
I'd not heard this about the clerks...do you have some links with stories about this??
"Ever heard of separation of powers? The law-making power is specifically listed by the Constitution(s) as belonging to the State Legislature and US Congress. For example a judge might rule, "It's okay for government schools to send laptops home, and record video of their students." That would be case precendent. But if the PA Legislature a month later passes a law forbidding spying on kids, then the Legislature's law will be *supreme* to the judge's opinion. His opinion will be nullified.
So just like I said... judges opinions and precedents are inferior to the actual Written Law."
Unless of course...someone challenged said PA law, and the supreme court (likely of the state first) ruled that that law was unconstitutional, then of course, the previous situation for use of laptops for recording at home would be ok again.
I agree mostly with you, but even the legislatures aren't supposed to be able to pass laws that violate the constitution of the state or federal level.
And you might want to look closer into US Immigration laws.
As stated on other posts on this thread...and what I was alluding to, to become a Naturalized Citizen (foreign born and want to become a citizen here) with few exceptions, you DO have to show some proficiency in the use of English.
So, do all these city examples you listed have the ballots also available in French (I live in LA, and have never seen any French ballots down here..all in English so far), German, etc?
"Those people pay taxes, the same as citizens, but they don't actually have the right to vote, right? Well, too bad for them they don't live in one of those countries where the locals revolted against their government because of this silly concept of "No taxation without representation".
Not a valid analogy.
The colonists WERE British citizens...but weren't getting representation. They were CITIZENS tho....so, it makes a difference.
"Note local elections, these locations have a right to decide that."
\
Trouble is...letting someone register for local elections, also qualifies the for state and federal elections.
You get registered for one, you are registered for all...and that has potential problems that can effect more than just your local govt.
Let's say for some reason, Poland wanted to try to influence a presidental election. Well, send a bunch of people to Portaland...do what they have to just long enough to get registered locally...then, they also vote federally. If Oregon is a swing state...it might just make the difference.
With one city? No..not likely...BUT, what if a large number of cities DID allow this..then the scenario isn't quite as far fetched.
Honestly, I was that way too for WAY too long. Then, I started to think like you, and the world started changing for me. I don't chase women anymore. I was an AFC for too long years ago...

As I heard it...it went this way:
Women marry men and want to change them...
Men marry women they hope NEVER change.

It's not THAT hard.
Just take a couple of sips of the beer first..then, just hold it between your legs like normal when driving!!!
I've got friends with kids...in the 10-13yr age. What is a Gr key? I don't believe I've ever seen that key before?? Are you using a special keyboard?
Anyone have any links on all the terminal programs (that work) available for the jailbroken iPhone that this story alludes to? Any free solutions? I thought that was one of the main things jailbreaking the phones was all about...

I can't imagine why anyone would want a white one.
What age group range is Generation "X"?
Where is the cutoff for boomers age-wise?
As a kid, I really didn't notice them being terribly bad. Not my favorite characters, but certainly better that fucking Jar-Jar.
