  6. I don't think it should be up to an edict from the president, he's NOT there (supposedly) to create legislature or policy, but to enforce the laws the congress pass.

    Therefore, for the DACA or Dreamers, or anything involving immigration, it is up to CONGRESS to get off their asses and make laws, policies and fix what they can.

    That's kind of along the lines of what I'm thinking these days.

    I'm liking more and more what I'm reading, and experiencing with the low, low carb thing, with good Fat intake, then protein, and lastly..carbs.

    I"m trying within that framework, to eat a LOT of veggies...so, far it seems to be working.

    In a few months, on next blood workup, hoping to see positive results, and in a year, I wanna be off ALL meds.

    So far, I think this is the way.

    Hey, why not?

    They shouldn't allow those food stamps to be spend on anything but fresh veggies, meats, etc.

    There is NO reason they should be allowed to buy cokes on food stamps, there is no nutritional benefit to that at all.....

    No.

    Healthcare paid for by others to you, is not a right.

    Actually...I"m wondering, for this study, what exactly their definition of "Health Diet" will be???

    If it is the same shit following the US food pyramid, full of grains, carbs and low fat, I can guess they're likely NOT going to get that pleasant of an outcome.

    If they go mostly all veggies and non-processed foods, they'll see a lot of improvement, but I think they should also try different groups in different considerations of "healthy" diets....Mediterranean type, kept/low carb types, vegetarian......etc

    I think not only would they show eating better helps health, but also, what is the best form of "Healthy" diet?

    Which is exactly why the government should stop warning people about the dangers of drugs. Stop the nanny state. If people are too stupid to realize there is a good chance they will die from using drugs, that's their problem.

    While I'm there with you about 99%, I don't see the problems with the govt. providing information, or requiring that people selling things are truthful and honest about their product.

    I don't think the govt should ban drugs, and if a person wants to use them, go ahead.

    But I don't see a problems with our tax dollars funding studies to see the benefits and detrimental effects of things like drugs, and making the info public so as to allow a more informed decision by the populace.

    ' Funny, nowhere in that preamble, nor IN the actual Constitution, do I find where the US government (the feds) are charged with protecting you from yourself amongst the limited, enumerated roles and responsibilities it has from said document.

    The government is setup, to be minimal....to set the framework for our US citizens to have the freedom to pursue happiness, that means for the feds to protect our borders, to negotiate with the rest of the world, and the feds and the states, to have law and order, to protect against robbery, murder, etc...crimes...so that you are FREE to have that LIBERTY to pursue happiness in your life, whatever that may be, unencumbered.

    Nowhere in there do I see that the government should be telling you what and what not to do with your own freaking body, or your time or your money.

    Of course we find some things that are and have to be illegal, but for the most part, the government should keep up the framework, and then stay mostly the fuck out of the lives of its citizenry.

    Its not there set up to take care of you...but to allow you the freedom to take care of yourself and live whatever life you wish to the fullest measure you can find to do so.

    We've been changing the way prisons operate around the United States and the results are that magic shit that happen in Norway suddenly happens here.

    Which prisons in the US, are the ones you speak of that have model citizens in the prison, no riots, no animalistic violent behaviors towards each other, no gang activity...etc.

    Well, it's also the problem of his or her children, family, etc. I'm not arguing one way or the other, but people do not exist in vacuums.

    Again, that's not the problem of the government really....and extreme are the rare case.

    The government is not (supposed to be) here to be a nanny over the populace, and protect them from their own idiocy. Adult grown people should have the freedom to make their own decisions, and live with the consequences thereof. That's one of the things this country was founded upon.

    I don't need the government making my decisions for me.

    Just this weekend I watched several National Geographic specials on prison life, etc.

    Those people are just animals....most are not seeming of capable of living on a 'human' level.

    With the conditions I saw on there, and how these people act, I don't see what you're promoting as being even close to working.

    It all sounds ideal....until you actually have to deal with the type of people you actually have to deal with in prison.

    There's a reason they there.

    I think it's a legitimate function of government to prevent corporations from preying on the unwary public, especially those who aren't otherwise well-informed.

    Wouldn't the govt funds be better served by informing the people about healthy choices, make a NEW food pyramid, tell them the evils of sugar and processed foods, to cook and eat "real" food, rather than trying to ban every company trying to sell junk food?

    I'd rather see the govt doing something POSITIVE rather than negative banning this or that ad....

    Maybe even start teaching healthy food choices and how to grow gardens in the schools, start the kids out early on what is good food for them....!!

    At least in the US.....and if the UK is like the US, I wish they'd stop subsidizing the farming and mass production of the very foods that are causing the obesity epidemics in our nations...and others around they world.

    You know....I see the thought and good intentions behind this type of move.

    But I'm torn...is it really the government's business to play nanny, and try to prevent stupid people from behaving stupidly?

    I mean, in this day in age....does not pretty much everyone not already know that pre-processed junk food is bad for you? That overeating processed carbs and SUGAR will cause obesity?

    Is it that somehow, the general public is now so fucking stupid they don't know this, and that these subway ads sway their behavior in such an unavoidable fashion that they must be protected from ads?

    Hmm.....why not, instead....have the government actively PROMOTE that people cook their own meals (try to encourage the family meal again), and to eat more unprocessed vegetables, cut back on sugar and carbs.

    Why not promote what works actively....and stay out of who advertises what, you know?

    Rather than withhold product information (nothing wrong with these things in moderation), why not instead promote ideas of HOW to eat healthy.

    Why not help fund and start up grow co-ops in the poorer areas, the areas that have had these spring up, have really helped the food desert communities, to educate them and get the kids interested in growing healthy food they can consume.

  25. If this becomes the law, then tens of millions of people will have to change the recording on their voice mailbox. Many of them don't explicitly announce that you are talking to a machine.

    There is a distinct difference between YOU calling someone, and gettting voicemail...and SOMEONE ELSE initiating a call to you, and not identifying the source of that call as a computer call, that also is listening and recording your responses.
