    Actually, my first thought on reading this article was..GREAT!! You can now just buy your congressional representative online, and not have to go through a lobbying firm.

    Go to the .gov app store, click on your fav. representative, and send them your issue and PayPal contribution.

    Sounds much easier to me!!

    "I advise forgetting the RV and traveling by hotel instead. I do a lot of traveling and all hotels have internet connectivity, even it's just a phone line. The better hotels let you connect direct to an ethernet line, like the one I stayed at in Oklahoma City which only cost ~$800 a month with free net access.

    And the distance from the hotel to "nature" is typically only half-an-hour. You can go picnic, enjoy the outdoors, and then come back to the hotel for a hot shower and free cable TV."

    I've wanted to do this kind of trip by motorcycle!! If I could somehow get 2-3 weeks off, and friends that could do the same, and just to the 'iron-butt' ride around a good bit of the US.

    Not necessarily, many may just use their bank website to pay ALL their bills from....rather than log onto every different site out there to pay individual bills.

    While I was against the bail outs, the part I mentioned concerning majority OWNERSHIP of the car companies came directly from direction from the current administration.

    They even by passed laws on the books where bonded debt holders that should have been paid off first, were passed over....so that 'deals' could go through.

    On the surface, I'd tend to agree with you, but, after thinking a bit, I think each of those could be argued that they are part of the 'common defense' parts of the Constitution, certainly the origins of the interstate hwy system, and the internet were military. I think the space program could also fit in that category, no?

    This is the 21st century, and motorized vehicles are MUCH larger and faster than in days of old when a bicycle was a common of a form of transportation as cars and horses.

    They should NO longer be permitted on the same roads as cars. We don't let horses, in general, on all public roadways do we?

    It doesn't do a damned thing for your insurance rates.

    If it is anything like motorcycle helmet laws. We used to have a choice to wear a helmet or not in Louisiana, till we got Blanco for a gov. For some reason she repealed a popular law, and we have to all wear helmets now.

    Do you you think we got a break on our insurance rates, since this took so much 'risk' out of the equation? Nope...not a cent.

    Was posting mostly tongue-in-cheek on that one. I know what they are, just being a bit sarcastic in that you don't actually see many of these things at all in the US. NYC has subways...I'm actually not sure what other cities in the US have subways or city trains.

    Very rare in the US for these modes of transport.

    I know what I want...I research them, see what the best prices on eBay have been, and just stay patient.

    That's all it takes, I too know what I'll pay, and if you wait long enough, you can get a GREAT deal, I have, and I've done it on some pretty damned high end stuff. I research the seller too, especially if it is high $$. You get to know what the scammers are, etc....

    While I agree with your thoughts on the site re-design (why can they not just let a good, fast loading, simple interface be?)...I don't get this comment.

    The difference is, you buy NEW items on Amazon.com, and get a deal on USED items (sometimes, things not even manufactured anymore like old McIntosh tube amps I'm looking for) on eBay.

    Any idiot that pays retail price for something on eBay is well.....a sucker, and there is one born every minute.

    So, a civil, job related version of "guilty until proven innocent" (except there is no method to prove ones self against this) is acceptable in today's society??

    Kinda of like pre-crime screening? You cannot do things now because you MIGHT do something.

    Man..I'm glad I'm getting older and will be gone before this progresses to what I foresee as being a very scary reality in the coming future.

    Yeah...pretty bad site.

    I wonder why they are limiting their market so severely by only catering to police and military for this?

    Seems like they'd make MUCH more selling to civilians as that they are the victims more often and need protection.

    The bigger question in my head is, what the HELL are they doing letting a small woman like that into the police force for...at least with regard to field duty?!?!

    Are there not requirements for height, weight and strength for a patrolling officer any more??

    Ok, I guess I can answer that question myself...after seeing some of the older, extremely FAT male cops I've seen in the doughnut shops. But, sheesh....a short little 5'2 lady? Hell, no perp could likely even SEE her when hearing her shout at them to stop, etc, unless they looked down.

    That just doesn't sound safe to me at all, for anyone. For her...and even for the criminal that might be tempted to stomp on such a small person, where they'd likely comply with someone larger and more formidable.

    Now, what someone needs to come up with, is a method to shield oneself from a taser 'attack'.

    Maybe something analogous to body armor for bullets...something you can wear, that will prevent the taser from shocking you. Is such a thing possible?

    I'd think there would be some $$ to be made with that one.....

    Are there really that many people out there, that don't think the Obama admin. proposed health care system is not basically modelled after the one in Mass?

    And is said healthcare system in MA not in a bit of a mess financially?

    Hmm...you have a gym you know of that has a rule against cameras??

    Never heard of that.

    Actually, aside from secure facilities (nuclear, DoD, etc)...I've never heard of a place that forbade by rule a camera phone.

    Nah, just wear flip flops when flying. I now 'dress' for flying to cause the last amount of hangup and hassle. Flip flops for shoes, before going through, I put my wallet, bracelet, phone...etc. in my backpack rather than in my pockets so as not to have anything that will set off the metal detector. I also now make sure to wear shorts/pants that don'e have a lot of metal buttons or zippers on them.

    This is all a PITA, that I do not believe will save us from anything, but, as long as it is on place, it helps to dress smartly for the experience.
