Hmm I do know how originally should be spelt (or at least I think I do, if it is wrong again I will conclude that I don't). I'm not entirely sure how I managed to get an A instead of and O (they are a long way apart and even on different hands)
I must remember to read posts before posting them.
The post you ariginally put said that you would have to sign an agreement later and this will almost certainly have lots more conditions saying that you have to be using their software for function. It might not specify that you can't install another OS (most people still think computer and windows are synonymous (sp?)) but it will (probably) say that the user cannot take any action to modify the function of the computer that prevents the adds from running once every hour of use (or something to that effect)
Sorry about all of the probably but I am too lazy to go and hunt down a copy of their actual tems and conditions;-)
Tunnels are dangerous enough for trains. The last thing you want to do is let any old person in there with a car. Any accident causes lots of problems.
This is going to be a 39km tunnel and if you have an accident in the middle then you have problems getting emergency services in and other people out. The other people tend not to react all that sensibly either when they see flames and realise thay are 15km from an exit.
I'm not a linguist but I think I can give a partial answer to your question.
This language has only a handful of characters and as far as I can tell from the article (I only skimmed it;-)) They are always pronounced the same. This makes it much easier for the computer to recognise what you are saying. One sound translates to one letter.
Also whistling is only one sound at different frequencies and frequencies are much easier to recognise than the sounds that make up normal language.
However although this language would make it easier for the computer to recognise what you are saying it still won't understand anymore of it.
This could make speech recognition easier for the computer (but the person has to learn the language which knid of defeats the purpose of speech recognition) but you are still limited in much the same way as current speech recognition as regards what the computer can do with the regognised speech.
The most optimistic I can be for SCO is that they could win the case with a few small parts of the kernel and these would have to be rewritten (given the amount of attention this is getting I would imagine the whole linux kernel could be rewritten in the gap between anything damning comming out in court and any eventual ruling) so Linux isn't going to die (or require license fees). But IBM might have to pay SCO somehting in damages (probably not very much given how obviously SCO is trying to be unhelpful).
European cars are abysmal?
Ever heard of Mercedes, Ferrari perhaps?
The food point is true though but thats the french (or at least thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it).
Is there any email attachment that you are allowed to send? If so just change the extension to that. Might confuse outlook when it tries to display the jpg though.
If the system keeps running then replacing data from backups is fairly trivial... You do keep backups right?
Thanks for the link from what everyone was saying I was expecting it to be vile but that is actually quite nice.

It is provided by a company called metronomy

You forget how small a country the UK is.
Yeah that's the one I got. Thought I was going crazy when everyone else was saying the reference came from a book I had never read...
