Japanese building used to be built without double-pane windows, insufficient insulation and a few other issues that make the water heater a minor concern relative to the ecological impact of making the building comfortable.
Also, what is to prevent a thief from dressing up in similar clothing to a cop, and then wandering around checking the door locks like these police do?
The graphics of the text Portal seem to be similar to games I played on my TI-83, I think the name was "Ultima", so if a 6MHz Z80 can do almost the same graphics, it is definitely something that could have been done a long time ago. (The TI-83 was released in 1996, but I bet that something like text Portal could have been made for a 286 with power to spare)
Honestly, I like 2D games, since the emphasis is more on gameplay and less on pretty graphics.
I played enough text based MUDs back in the day that I like that as well, with almost no graphics at all, but it would be hard to make a text based action game. (Now there is a challenge, and some probably already exist)
I have never had a car loan, a lien on my car, or even comprehensive insurance on my car, which made insurance about a cheap as possible.
Driving cheap cars has a lot of savings. I moved to Japan, and wanted to keep my history with my car insurance company (USAA), and being insured not owning a car was only a little cheaper than the insurance I had on my car. Not having a lien on my car meant that I could sell my car in 15 minutes, no need to get permission from anyone to do that.
(USAA gave me a $5/year plan for expatriates to keep my account history with them, so if I return to the US I can continue with my history of 8 years of claim free coverage)
I bought a Garmin Venture CX for a similar purpose; to record where I have been so that I can interpolate the location of pictures I took with where I was, based on the timestamp of the picture.
It has a feature where every day can be logged to the MicroSD card, so while the built-in memory is a bit limited, you can have basically unlimited storage in the MicroSD card. Get some good batteries and it lasts a while. (Hybrid batteries like the Sanyo Eneloops are very much recommended.)
No Bluetooth, but it does have a USB interface that works well in Ubuntu, and as a bonus you can power it off a laptop/cell phone charger. My GPS has spent a while on the dash of a firetruck plugged in recording where I have been.
The only heater is on the wall just below the ceiling. Other stores have the AC in the ceiling, so that is which is also the heater. Many of the ACs here have a reverse cycle that heats the room.
I am in Japan, and they are very behind in that kind of stuff. Single pane windows, limited insulation and poor sealing make cooling/heating more expensive than it should be.
Why would anatomy not be child-friendly?
Since about half of the people on this planet have the organ depicted in that article, why should it not be relevant to people with that organ?
Tell that to the NWA. Wrestling and a wildlife foundation should be even easier to tell apart, they both aren't as similar as two file systems.
Wolfenstein 3D wasn't really 3D; there was no relevant vertical axis. It was 2d gameplay with a somewhat 3d view.
You couldn't tilt the viewpoint, aim higher, and they used sprites for stuff placed in the rooms.
You mean before songs were released on CD?
Dude, you forgot the fans to push the turbine around. How else is it going to move?
What is this "icon" you are talking about?
Does it call umount?
No, if you don't have to grab a screwdriver, it isn't bricked, it is just messed up.
(Bricked: as useful as a brick)
How about if they try to offer something better than the pirates?
No DRM, region locking/restrictions, convenience, etc.
Here in Japan, some places have remote water heater controllers, to shut off the water heater when it isn't used.
I discovered that the hard way, when I tried to take a shower without telling the people who's house I was staying in.
(The control panel looked like this)

Hmm, a binary picture like this one?
(Just a picture of a wrecked building run through a threshold filter)
They would end up competing with the Slacker G2, then.
I hope MS is big enough to make this a world-wide thing, so that other people can offer world-wide streaming service.

Periodically you need to reformat and reinstall the government as well?
(Assuming the government was Windows, of course)

Changing the case of a path SHOULD cause it to refer to a different path.
Here is 5 cents, go buy yourself a better computer.
Yeah, well my other car also doesn't exist.
What would a parody AD be doing at the start of a DVD?
My apartment, for one.

Halogen light bulbs are a kind of incandescent bulb.
Just look at the "You wouldn't steal a car..." videos.
The MPAA didn't seem to care that they were comparing unrelated crimes.
10 watts is "hard to do?"
A 10 watt solar panel is about 1 square foot.
It seems pretty simple to me: fresh sperm are better.
Hah, I doubt that such a lawsuit would get very far.
Just look at the rootkit lawsuit.
