No bullshit. Maybe living in Australia makes AMD prices artificially high, but I am not going to order a CPU over the net from some dodgy store on PriceWatch.
I am really happy with my new system so it matters not now. BTW the system is: P4 2.8/1GB DDR400/Gigabyte 8IPE100Pro2/GexCube 9600XT. It runs a treat.
My next purchase is going to be a laptop/notebook. Show me a cool running Athlon laptop that runs Photoshop really well for doing digital image stuff out on the road and I might consider it. At present the Centrino package is my preference, the only prob is the wireless shitfight... Damn Intel and their incompetence sometimes.
I recently bought an Intel P4 2.8GHz for only $15 more than an Athlon 2800XP. I don't call that rediculously overpriced.
If AMD could pull their thumbs out of their arses and get a 300mm fab up and running, they would be able to undercut Intel by a huge margin and grab more market share.
Maybe then you could afford to buy the big heatsink required for the Athlons:)
But if the chip is producing more heat than another processor and performing the same as a cooler chip, I would say that the AMD chip is not as efficient. The heat is wasted energy.
Loony time:
Maybe AMD could make their chips run hotter and convert some of the heat back into electricity with little steam turbines...
I know this is going to sound wrong but I really hope Network Solutions and Register.com win this and then countersue their asses.
Even though NS and R.com are both companies who screw people royally, this group of f*ckwits is even worse. I will take the lesser of the 2 evils thanks.
400 million is a lot of money, even more if it's US dollars
400 million US dollars is not what it once was... so with the US dollar going down the drain, the project is costing less in real terms.
If they weren't spending 400 million dollars on sending little robots to Mars to find out more about the place, they would be making more planes, ships and guns to kill people with. I prefer the Mars option myself.
Then why are you worried about morale if people die in the military without going to war? Maybe those deaths are the US's way of cleaning the gene pool a bit...
So the loss of troops is only a problem because it weakens morale. Shouldn't you be more worried that the troops are getting killed in the first place?
Just think the US could have funded some rebel group in Iraq with $10 billion dollars and they could have gone and fixed the Saddam problem. The same rebels that are currently killing troops from the biggest and most armed army in the world on a regular basis. $10 billion could buy a lot of RPGs and AK-47s...
Yeah of course 17 billion is a lot of money, but when you look here, at table S-7. You will see that NASA's budget compared to the defense spending is miniscule. Of the total US budget, 48% goes to defense. That is ludicrous. And more money gets spent on Homelad Security than on NASA.
Spend a bit less on blowing up Iraqi's, Afghani's, Serbs and developing more nuclear weapons, then spend what you save on putting the human race onto other planets in our solar system and beyond. It may still be a lot of money but you are doing something non-destructive with it...
Similar to that of being beaten with wet newspaper for days on end...
Anyway, DC isn't a nation, Niue is/was. If you start letting capital cities have their own TLDs then sooner or later some crackpot is gonna want to make a TLD for every county in the US... Where will it end?
Why stop at the losers? All people who enter American Idol should be sent into space as test crew for any new NASA spacecraft. Some may survive, let's hope many do not...
That's a bit rough. I got a chuckle from his haiku...
keep it from falling on Topeka.
What is in Topeka worth saving?
Anyway, I think tornadoes are a bigger threat to Topeka than a falling telescope will ever be...
I call bullshit.

I think you have just ruined a future story line for the Simpsons with your .sig... or given them an idea for a possible storyline...
Rediculously overpriced?

Flamebait?
What drugs are these mods on?
If the market doesn't catch fire, your desk or legs will...

It is very nice. Mozilla continues to get better with every release. Like AMD, it just needs some more public exposure...
It was only awarded early this year though... How can it take 5 years to process a patent?
Don't forget Kerry Packer and Rupert Murdoch... It is also synonymous to 'politician', think John Howard, Mal Colston, Tony Abbot, the list goes on...

You have shares don't you?
Are you the Architect?
Do you know what I am going to do before I make a decision? Do I really have any choice in this?
I didn't know Kenny had a brother? In fact there were lots of little Kenny's there, did Dr Mephisto develop a cloning technique?
Let us just hope that the clones don't have 4 asses...

How about those people who used to have a 5 digit ID and left the job and the email address he signed up with and couldn't change it...
Or it could be like ICQ where instead of trying to remember your old username and password, you just crate another ID.
Then again, I could be just fulfilling what you said right there...
No, Walls of Moon Dust

You obviously didn't read the article did you? :)
