How is it generous to keep 29 billion dollars?

He's not spending it on, say, a giant fortress and a bunch of henchmen.

It's not a license! It's some bizarre twisted document that tries to be a license and a contract at the same time.
It's an End Use License Agreement. It's basically, "You Agree to this contract, and we give you a License."

I can't find a website telling me how representatives voted on this bill.
The article says the House passed it by a voice vote - meaning they essentially did "Everyone in favor say aye" "Aye"... so there's no way to tell how each individual voted.
  5. Blizzard on What Games Should I Get for My New G5? · · Score: 1

Blizzard has a good track record for supporting the Mac, and while none of their offerings quite fit the FPS or RPG catagories, I'd suggest getting Warcraft III for those with RTS leanings. Also, their World of Warcraft beta signups are still going on (end tomorrow night), and yes, the Mac platform is being beta tested.

Getting off topic, but no. The World Wide Web, which is the whole "browse to this page" type stuff that the general public tends to think of when you say "Internet". The Internet is the network of computer networks that includes such things as the World Wide Web, email, FTP servers, connections for playing online games, and most anything else that involves computers talking to each other over said network.

OK, so where can I get a warp drive, transporter, replicator, and holodeck? I can have them delivered within a week, but it does come at a premium. All prices in plutonium, excepting the delivery charge, which comes to 1 flux capacitor per order.

  8. Underage matters? on Raking Muck In The Sims Online · · Score: 2, Insightful
A quote from the skotos.net forums; I cannot guarantee the veracity of this, as no one's quoted any actual laws there (and I've not bothered to look), but the statement is supported on the forum:
...it is a CRIME to simulate sexual contact with someone you believe to be under the age of 18.

Not a ha, ha, I just downloaded the latest Eminem single crime. A mandatory minimum prison sentence/you will be registered as a sex offender crime.
    ...
On top of that, if [the company] or any employee thereof has any reason to believe that a minor was involved in simulated sexual behaviour and they failed to act immediatly, (this might include reporting the incident to the authorities if one of the persons involved is over 18) then they would be guilty of a CRIME as well and could very well end up getting sued and all sorts of other unpleasentness.
Perhaps the people looking for whether a crime was committed in the Sims game are looking in the wrong place (prostitution), and missing the issue of minors. If the quoted text above is indeed accurate.
  9. Strange Yet True on Microsoft Going After Hotmail Spammers · · Score: 2, Interesting

I've had a spare hotmail account for nearly a year now, and I've gotten no spam in it at all, unless you count the MS stuff. I've even used it, giving out the address to people I know and to sites I trust (like slashdot.org and skotos.net), and to small community sites like forums and such.

    No spam. At all.

If I had to guess, I would say that the 15-character username throws off some spammers. Mine's actually a combination of two words, though you won't find one in most dictionaries.
