GP: MS for behavior that might someday lead to a monopoly in server OS's
Parent: How does Apple have a monopoly when I can walk into a Wal-Mart or Target and on the shelves right next to the iPods
1) The parent specifically mentioned server OS's (where MS has multiple competitors in the market), other mp3 players don't count.I am disputing the GPs contention that "Apple who has a monopoly today on portable music players." They do not.
2) Apple's supposed monopoly is in the digital music market, not the portable music player market.
That is not what the GP stated. The poster stated "Apple who has a monopoly today on portable music players." If the poster meant the "digital music market", then why not use the words, "digital music market"? Why did the poster use, "portable music players"?
3) You don't understand what a monopoly is do you? Hint: It doesn't mean you have 100% of a market.Everything I stated is factually correct and I didn't imply in anyway that a monopoly is 100% of a market. Still beating your wife?
Ever noticed how the EU was perceived to be smart when it was punishing MS for behavior that might someday lead to a monopoly in server OS's, but is considered dumb when they attack Apple who has a monopoly today on portable music players.
How does Apple have a monopoly when I can walk into a Wal-Mart or Target and on the shelves right next to the iPods I see other portable music players with more features and lower prices? Apple does not have a monopoly with its iPod, the consumer has choices and they choose to buy iPods.
Just another way to bombard marine life with Sonar. Can we please get out of this mentality that convinces us that using active sonar all day is a great idea?
How else are we to slay sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads?
Nice try. I snipped this from a Macworld review - "The Hybrid's tuner can receive both analog cable and free digital ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) signals. ATSC over-the-air broadcasts can be both standard-definition and high-definition."
I know the liberals on Slashdot are going to hate to hear this, but chances are that John Doe is guilty. The guy's a constant trouble maker, always up in court on charge after charge. Yeah, innocent until proven guilty but no smoke without fire!
He's also constantly found dead in shallow graves across the United States.
Several years ago, a principal in an inner city high school here in Massachusetts requested and received notebook computers for the staff and that included the janitorial staff! What the hell does a janitor do with a notebook?
If they are Dell notebooks they can use them to heat their homes.
I've been hating Apple for months now! I can't understand how everyone else can't despise how ubiquitous the ipod has become. I'm prepared to personally stoke the fires of hatred for Apple.
Since despising the popularity of iPods has become so popular, I am beginning to hate the haters of the likers of iPods.
A blind person can "shoot" a rifle-shaped block of wood by mounting an offset pistol scope on the side of the rifle instead of on top. This allows their liar companion behind them to peer over their shoulder and tell them "Oh yeah, you totally got that one."
Then you can stick the blind person's hand in spaghetti and peeled grapes and say it's the deer's intestines and eyeballs.
There has not been an al-queda attack on american soil since 9/11, this is absolute proof that these new policies of privacy invasion and loss of freedom are working to keep you safe.
Actually this stone I keep in my pocket is keeping everyone safe.
I'd rather have a President Ballmer anyway. Sure he'd constantly be nuking people but it'd all be worth it when he comes out for the State of the Union address going "Senators, senators, senators, senators..."
"Thank you all. Mr. Speaker, Vice President Cheney, members of Congress, members of the Supreme Court and diplomatic corps, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens.
COME ON!!! GIVE IT UP FOR ME!!!!
WHO SAID SIT DOWN?!?!?
I HAVE FOR WORDS FOR YOU - I LOVE THIS COOUNTRY!!! YEAAHHH!!!!"
I just did a quick search on Amazon.com (so I by no means have a complete list with prices), shows the first HDMI cable (not a male-to-male or converter) going for around $40. This is not a monster cable, just a no-name brand. The monster cable was $100+.
My point? HDMI cables cost A LOT, even at the low end. And most stores that I've checked (again, not a complete list) don't care more than one or two brands, usually the $75 to $100 versions.
The distinction is that email and IM are distinct formats both to the average person (a big thing in laws) and the legislators -- who decided to use the term "email" and not "online communication." The court here is obviously wrong in how it's interpreting the law -- you have to see why it's crucially important that the wording of what is and is not legal is precise and you can't simply say "it's close eniugh."
Some people who were groped would insist it was rape. Should be prosecute it as such?
Both murder and homicide in self-defense are intentional killings of another human being. Close enough, right?
See where I'm going?
Nice try - "electronic mail" is not defined under the statute so the judge is left to determine the definition of "electronic mail". Rape and murder are defined in the statute.
That's an interesting opinion... I saw an idiot (possibly an asshole) refusing to leave when he wasn't following known rules and physically resisting and fighting. Someone who was given plenty of notice he was going to be tased yet continued to resist and then getting tased again.
If I give you plenty of notice that you are going to be shot in the head with my revolver, does the warning justify my use of force? If you don't comply with my command to get up, is my continued shooting into your head justified?
BTW, it was never about whether Saddam had WMD, but whether he allowed inspections. He didn't. He lost.
Incorrect, Iraq allowed weapons inspectors back in the country in December of 2002 and they were inspecting until days before the March 20, 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Not too many people that jump off bridges end up safe. They usually end up scraped.
Wonder when they will announce price increases?
How about Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing", "Sultans of Swing" or "Walk of Life"?
Attach a GPS tracker to her car, throw her rabbit in a pot of boiling water, go home and play some Xbox.

I'd rather vote for John Cusack.
