A questionable moral point of view, that it is a good idea to get rid of a good working peripheral (like a printer). At the time of the iMac "USB only" design blunder and for years afterwards, USB really was not necessary. Existing mice, keyboards, and printers worked just fine. It would be several years before the real "killer app" for USB, the thumb drive, really became viable. USB ports were only made into "must have" and the floppy was only rendered obsolete with the advent of the cheap USB thumb drive....something that occured just a couple of years ago. Long after iMac forced a decision that should not have been made so early.

Microsoft just released the Intel OS X Windows Movie player. Microsoft has had a long relationship making applications for the Macintosh. If they want to fight, that's fine. Just take what you need.
Do you have a link for this "Intel OS X Windows Movie player"? I searched the Microsoft website for Mac Windows Media Player and all I got was a link to download a nearly three year old version 9 player, a note that they are no longer updating or supporting the application for the Mac and a link to a third party media player.

Since they've never (at least that I've ever heard) disclosed how their encryption scheme works, so nobody outside of Skype really knows how secure it is, or if there are any backdoors. Sure, they say it doesn't have any backdoors, but they're not exactly an unbiased source.

And they never claim not to hold keys in escrow for "lawful requests from relevant authorities," as the Skype head of security puts it, in the article you linked to.

Basically, Skype is probably (okay, almost certainly) better than just using an enencrypted landline, but nobody knows by exactly how much.

Good points. If you are concerned about back doors and security, try Zfone. Created by Philip Zimmermann of PGP fame, Zfone is a secure VOIP application. He states in his FAQ regarding whether Zfone includes any back doors, "anyone who knows anything about me knows the answer is No" , also the source code is "available to download for peer review".
