Huh? Fastest Processor? This doesn't make sense to me. What is an old lady going to do with an i7 when all she is doing is checking email and going to pogo?
Seriously, most *NETBOOKS* have just about enough processing power to get most average computer users by fine. SERIOUSLY. If it wasn't for insane memory bloat, they could still be doing this on 10 year old machines (and very many, do)
I bought an exceedingly cheap laptop. I needed an el-cheapo to tote with me, use at work, etc. It was just about one of the crappiest processors you can get in a laptop (fullsize) right now, AMD p340
It does absolutely everything I need it to do, and I do some pretty tech heavy stuff..
The REAL kicker? It has more 'power' according to benchmarks than my Pentium Dual Core 2.2GHz sitting at home as my desktop. This scores a 'whopping' ~1100 in passmark CPU points.. and I do almost everything anyone else does! I play all the latest games, I have a $80 video card. Sure, I can't pump the resolution up, but with a monitor that supports MAX 1440x900 there's not much to worry about! I have to turn down settings FINALLY on the absolutely latest games, and 2011's Q3 games probably will be a NO GO for me, and finally force an upgrade... but think about it
CPU power is fucking insane these days, top of the line i7 is scoring as much as 10-13x as much as my desktop CPU, and the only time I *ever* notice my CPU chugging is processor intensive games (popular areas in wow, BF:BC2) or doing serious encoding.
I have found myself in a similar situation.. not too similar I hope.
Some minor pain led me to noticed a very large right submandibular lymph node.. it's huge, pretty sure it's my lymph node.. it sort of 'comes out' when I bend my head forward, near the carotid artery.. It's very firm to the touch, has been this way for 4 weeks now,
I have been to the doctor, a couple in fact... both think it's nothing, both offered a course of anti-biotics (which I of course took) thing is still the same, I don't think it's growing but I have no idea how long it took to get this big, because i noticed it suddenly (it was very sore that day, whole area was sore/hot to the touch)... One doc finally offered an ultrasound but here's the real kicker
I have health insurance, but I am still unable to do anything! I have 'disaster' health insurance (through my employer, no less!) High deductible ($10k!) I make so little at my current job, with rent, etc.. I cannot afford to meet my deductible. I can't even afford the damn ultra-sound. My savings (small as it was) was demolished by a suspicious mole that required multiple treatments and ended up costing me so much money I couldn't believe it. So what do I do?
I've taken the worst possible route so far; I've tried to ignore it and hope it goes away. I know this is the worst possible outcome, but what else do I do? I could go get -all- the treatment/tests I needed for awhile, because the way my insurance works is they perform whatever, bill my insurance, then I get a bill months later.. So do I basically just stiff these medical establishments? Are they forced to accept payment? For my mole stuff I asked them about payments, and they said they wanted the money right now! What does someone like me do in a situation like this? I'm saving money for the ultrasound, but at the pace I'm able to right now.. I don't know what to do
Guess I'm rambling.. but honestly I'm scared to death and just am at a loss, hah
There once was a time (and maybe still is with the right backdoors..) you were actually able to knock 'hard' pulls (The ones from companies checking your credit for an account, these lower your score) by getting as many soft pulls in as you could.. this worked with Transunion and Experian for a bit.
I know quite a few retired UAW workers from detroit,,, entire family lines of UAW workers.
And you know what they like to talk about? How they sit around doing coke/heroin at work and couldn't get fired for it, the most that would happen is a forced rehab.. they would talk about doing the rehab stint and be right back to slinging tar on the assembly line...
I've heard some crazy ass stories about UAW workers, it wouldn't supprise me to find a lot of contempt held for them from hard-working individuals who get bitched at for smoking a cig at work.
Check it out, there's no catch all 'criminal database' full of people's credit cards and PIN numbers. If this was the case, a group could simply use this list to make everyone aware of the impending fraud...
Most 'carding' activity is done via forums and IRC.. where credit card dumps (dumps of the magnetic strip) and numbers/info are SOLD for anywhere from $1-$5 each, depending on the value of the card in question.. and if it's a dump or just information. The dumps can be used to 'write' the information to blank magstrips (other credit cards, hotel key cards) with the right hardware.
The only way these criminals withdrew the money from your account was with your PIN number. The fraud officer was right. You can make purchases without a PIN using the credit aspect of a card, but you CANNOT withdraw money.. You can't even get 'cash back' without using the ATM part of the card. Somewhere along the lines you must've disclosed your PIN number. Can't you contact the establishments where the money was taken (where teh ATM or whatever device was used to obtain the money) they almost universally have cameras on them now.. for the fact that you can say 'that wasn't me' and request a camera shot of the person taking the money out... with that evidence in hand it's usually very easy from there to get the charges removed.
ive seen it, but yeah.. if you're smart it never happens...
this bozo is probably talking about going to google, typing "XXX crack" and clicking the worse links possible... but those of us who saunter on over to gamecopyworld and the likes, really don't have to worry.
I'm on Suboxone treatment myself! If someone threw me in jail where I couldn't obtain my medicine, i'd fucking try to smuggle it in too! What's the real story here? I've been through HARDCORE opiate addiction and I managed to find a medication which totally pulled me out of the gutter. I have been clean two years thanks to suboxone and it has totally turned my life around.
Sure, opiate naive individuals can get a 'high' off suboxone.. and you certainly don't feel 'bad' when you take it, it makes you feel great.. well it makes you feel 'normal' compared to other people. Once you've been an opiate addict for long enough, you just simply don't have enough natural opiates in your brain, you are constantly sick and I don't blame these people if that's the case.
They should have been receiving treatment for their addiction in jail, not just left to rot and wallow in withdrawal. It's easy for people who have never been there to judge and say it's their fault and they should just suffer through it. Anyone who has experienced opiate withdrawal at an extreme level knows this just isn't possible! you are so sick you can't eat, sleep, stay still.....this is worst than most medical conditions! Sure, it was self-inflicted, but come on... at least they're smuggling in something that's almost impossible to get high off of / overdose on. If they were really looking to get high, they could've done the EXACT SAME THING with heroin or any other strong opiate.. but they didn't. They used Suboxone, which leads me to believe they were just seeking help.
This happened to me... except I didn't have the happy ending.
I was given a gifted game on Steam.. This game was Left 4 Dead 2.. it was on sale for $5 and a friend gifted it to me.
Turns out, this 'friend' was part of some credit-card theft ring online, and he was found out... the next day my steam account is banned/locked.
Thank god it was my alternate steam account, but I still had a fair number of games on there that I can no longer access... inlcuding Modern Combat 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2,(It was my Online FPS account, that I would share with others in my house)
I basically LOST the entire purchase price of all these games, because steam decided that getting a gift that was bought with a stolen credit cards means you're a bad bad person.. they couldn't just take access to the game in question.. NO. they had to ban my entire account
It's not really googling answers that's the problem.
It's that people are working jobs that they have no passion for.
When you love what you do, you want to always learn more. I've worked IT for a small company and googled a lot. I winged a lot of the job using google.. but I didn't google for forums or quick answers. I would educate myself. I would teach myself using the wealth of resources available on the internet and find I'd be able to get anything done if I put my mind to it. For the few odds and ends I needed help with, I asked, but I would always be so passionate when I was learning something new that once I saw the actual answer, I had to dig deeper to see WHY it was the answer and how it related to everything else.
Whatever happened to the drive in geeks? We used to sit in garages for weeks on end soldering non-printed circuit boards and simple logic devices just to make advanced calculators.... now people just want the quick way out.
I knew nothing about certificate's, certificate authorities, certificate servers and running your own private certificate authority, but I was curious.. (This was as I read the original question, before the comments) so I went to wikipedia and spent about 2 minutes reading about SSL certificates until I started reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_server, and noticed the Open Source Implementations part...
Immediately I thought, "Why can't you just run your own certificate authority and add it as trusted in the browser, there has to be a way in most modern browsers."
So I came here to answer the question, with no prior experience or knowledge on the subject... of course it was already answered, but still..really need to rethink your job choice when you have to ask how to do something instead of having that spark and passion to know and learn more... When I was working IT for a small company I pretty much WINGED IT using google.. and you know what? The people who ran the place thought I was some kind of boy-genius wizard. But in reality, whenever I was asked to do something, I pretty much taught myself on site and at home using google, and got it done. When you love what you do, you want to know every aspect of it.. I just don't understand why this question was even asked.
Why don't you just use one of the hundred of HTTPS proxies that tunnel your connection to facebook through HTTPS.. making it a garbled mess to the nerd sitting in the server room with his laptop hooked up to the switch running a packet monitor.
Don't be foolish, it is cracking DRM. It does it seamlessly and in a way transparent to the user. Sure, you get negligible loss of quality.. but the concept is what media sharing is all about.
If you can see it or hear it, it can be replicated, no matter what you do.
doesn't anyone else wonder how dude (who works for microsoft, mind you) buys a computer for $2,100 and it can't run vista?
I mean, vista/is/ a downgrade from xp until you do some major tweaking, but how in the world does $2,100 not get you a blazing machine these days? I mean come on.. it's so cheap I don't even build my own anymore (Dell business machines are great) core2duo 3ghz 4gigs of ram 500gb sata etc etc etc for well well well well well under $2100 (about 500, HAH)
I mean, the amount of time it would take me to do anything about it (and I am on the Do Not call list) is worth more to me than the simple satisfaction of sticking it to one company.
I have mod points, but I wanted to comment and I'm sure you'll get modded up.
I really like the idea of eBay taking on a brick and mortar aspect. I even think some kind of partnership with UPS/FedEx would be awesome, making the actual 'exchange' (Shipping, handling, etc) of the item totally internal.
This would solve a number of problems. Scamming would happen on a magnitute lower, but you'd also have FedEbay being the judge and jury if there was a problem with the item, sort of like paypal.
I don't know how they'd recoup the overhead costs with moving into something more substantial like that, but can you imagine.. being able to just take a package and say it's for lolsp0rksrule420, without having to give any personal information, etc?
This will go down as the greatest joke in gaming history.
I can't wait for the actual game to come out, for an amazingly low price! Gamers pop it into their ready computer, suddenly a huge picture of duke comes up with the oh so famous "I've got balls of steel" soundclip, follow by a picture of those at 3drealms.
After this is done, it will immediately be followed by Rick Astley's newest single.
I work at Kohl's Department Store and their in-store credit line ('Kohl's Charge') uses a barcode on the back of the 'credit card' to charge your account- there is no magnetic stripe. The 'numbers' the barcode represent are clearly printed under it.
All it would take is some clever kohl's employees, get a big list of kohl's charge numbers, make cards with names corresponding to whatever ID you have.. bingo..
Oh, the most hilarious thing is with Kohl's... if you lost your card, you can go into the store and ask them to do a lookup-
Now, with just a social security number you can get a printout of that very same barcode at the register, AND have everything charged to your account.. just by entering your social at the pin pad
Huh? Fastest Processor? This doesn't make sense to me. What is an old lady going to do with an i7 when all she is doing is checking email and going to pogo?

Hey.. wait a second.. CustomTF.. Shaka..
Man, like when I was sooo young, so long ago, I used to play a ton of TF.. I was really fond of "MegaTF"
Some friends of mine kept raving about "shaka's tf server"
tried it and ended up playing on that damn server for months!
Memory has faded a ton, but totally remember warlock knives, haha
i salute you, sir
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Correct. This is called a "Soft Pull"
There once was a time (and maybe still is with the right backdoors..) you were actually able to knock 'hard' pulls (The ones from companies checking your credit for an account, these lower your score) by getting as many soft pulls in as you could.. this worked with Transunion and Experian for a bit.

I seriously doubt anyone is going to ban coal power production!
I'd wager a good 70% of us could go look at our energy bill right now and see that just wouldn't be possible.
Personally, I get about 88% of my energy from coal.. and that's in the California valley.
Or just call them on the telly....
No amount of protection or technology is going to stop people from colluding in online poker. None.

Mannequins? Have you SEEN the battlefield 3 play videos?

Seriously, some parts of that video are *photorealistic* to me.. I can barely tell the different at certain points.
I cannot wait! (to majorly upgrade my hardware... lol)
It's way better than last night..
I went to CNN and one of the headlines was, I kid you not...
"Nuclear blast in japan kills 3"
I was like jesus christ wtf
yeah, it was just the top of the building
fuck you cnn, fuck you

How about no robo-calls PERIOD?
Do you know they leave messags on your answering machine now?
I was sitting here, minding my own business.. phone rings, 1-800 number..no way i'm picking that up.
So my machine gets it, to my horrow i suddenly hear a text-book RADIO AD blaring through my answeing machine!
HI THIS IS GOTTSCHALKS BLQAGH BLAH BLAH in my own #($&*%& house, an ad! NO TV, NO RADIO!
I immediately threw my empty beer bottle at the blast machine, I'm getting answering service through the phone company now!
