I know us geeks would like it. I think it should have been done a long time ago.
But without the power of the iPod (Or portable audio players in general) pushing the mp3 stores (Mainly itunes, really the first successful one) will it take off at all?
If a subscription model was offered, let's say 10 movies watches a month for $20.. I think it could really do well! We all know it would be DRM'ed to death, though.
I am terribly sorry if anyone believes this. It was just a copy & paste from a GNAA troll about FreeBSD with a few find and replaces... pretty much karma whoring.
But it's definitely true that Debian is stagnant. In OpenSource you have to compete to be number #1
It is official; Netcraft confirms: Debian is dying
One more crippling bombshell hit the already beleaguered Debian community when IDC confirmed that Debian market share has dropped yet again, now down to less than a fraction of 1 percent of all servers. Coming on the heels of a recent Netcraft survey which plainly states that Debian has lost more market share, this news serves to reinforce what we've known all along. Debian is collapsing in complete disarray, as fittingly exemplified by failing dead last [samag.com] in the recent Sys Admin comprehensive networking test.
You don't need to be a Kreskin [amdest.com] to predict Debian's future. The hand writing is on the wall: Debian faces a bleak future. In fact there won't be any future at all for Debian because Debian is dying. Things are looking very bad for Debian. As many of us are already aware, Debian continues to lose market share. Red ink flows like a river of blood.
Debian is the most endangered of them all, having lost 93% of its core developers. The sudden and unpleasant departures of long time Debian developer Manoj Srivastava only serve to underscore the point more clearly. There can no longer be any doubt: Debian is dying.
All major surveys show that Debian has steadily declined in market share. Debian is very sick and its long term survival prospects are very dim. If Debian is to survive at all it will be among OS dilettante dabblers. Debian continues to decay. Nothing short of a miracle could save it at this point in time. For all practical purposes, Debian is dead.
I'm sick and fucking tired of Slashdotters going up-in-arms over GPL violations but when it comes to actual copyrights that have been around for awhile.. let the copyright holder starve!
I mean, what CherryOS is doing is wrong.. but jesus get a grip with the double standards
with the design of OS X and it's grandparent OS, FreeBSD, why wouldn't they switch?
If it can perform almost anything the old OS can perform but with the polish and graphical wizardy apple has shown in OS X, plus with the support of using a now "semi-mainstream" Operation System.
Linux is still a viable option, but seriously.. how often do you hear of people with Macs running linux instead of OS X now? How is support doing for non x86 Linux these days?? Saw it coming
They were asked to remove Windows Media Player and did, the user can install any alternative they want as well as codecs, and af ew other things.. and it will play your movies without windows media player.
But see, if they were allowed to wire-tap VoIP, skype would probably provide the encryption keys.. I'm talking about user-selected encryption.
I know none of the hardware-based VoIP providers or proprietary client based ones wouldn't work with this scheme. But couldn't someone set up an encrypted VoIP network of callers over one of the MANY VoIP providers..
If you're going to all the trouble to commit a crime..

See, that doesn't make sense.
A criminal needing to communicate privately can do it a number of ways.. being encrypted email.. encrypted IM..
How can wiretaps even be remotely useful anymore? Unless you catch someone who is being stupid and talking on a potentially insecure phone line about something he shouldn't have done..
there are so many other ways that are much safer, doesn't make sense
Uhh, VoIP is digital

Being that VoIP originates from the callers machine digitally, it would be easy to add encryption to the transmission. Please comment, do any current VoIP services clients or other free/open-source clients already offer this feature?
Octopus are underrated. Seriously. I used to have an (Octopus bimaculoides) [utmb.edu] as a pet (her name was Josie, short for Josephine) and I was always amazed at the intelligence and problem solving abilities she exhibited. One day I was returning from working all night at the sleep lab followed by a day of class. I had a new bag of goldfish to feed her and placed them in the "goldfish tank" across the table from her 100gal aquarium. She always got excited at that and would hang on the side of her tank and look at the goldfish. At any rate, I got a couple hours of sleep and then ran back to work for another all night shift. Upon stumbling back home the next day, I was stunned to find no goldfish in the goldfish tank! I did not know if I was just seriously sleep deprived or what, but closer inspection revealed goldfish scales floating around in Cephus's tank........and a trail of dried salt water on the table top from her tank to the goldfish tank. She had opened the top of her tank, navigated across the table to the goldfish tank, helped herself to every last goldfish in the goldfish tank and then crawled back home, closing the top of her tank! All I could do was stare in dumbfounded amazement.
She also exhibited curiosity with new objects placed into her tank, exploring them extensively, and I must admit, it is most interesting in that unlike other aquatic non mammalians.....when you looked into an octopus eye, they look back at you. There is something absolutely intelligent behind those eyes.
I could only imagine the laughter that would ensue with switching out someone's alarm clock with this while they're sleeping.... (if they're a snoozer and aren't awake enough to notice the changed clock)
Have you tried listening to older Art Bell shows? Even some of the newer ones are pretty interesting (nerd wise, or other)..
Their streamlink plan lets you download shows from past 90 days, they just started an awesome "classic show" category that has some real gems... Look out for shows from Dr. Michio Kaku (Awesome guy, genius, check out his book Hyperspace) as I find those really entertaining to the geek part of me.
The website for the show can be found Here and the streamlink info Here
Oh, and lots of stuff about UFOs, ghosts.. just time killing stuff to listen to
Are the customers reponsible for all the charges incurred from this virus? Being that it probably uses a flaw in the phone's OS itself.. how is this going to work?
Nobody is going to want fancy new fangled smart-phones if they get infected with viruses and run up your phone bill monthly..
The PSP uses Memory Stick Duo so compatibility really isn't an issue here, AC

How did they intentionally cripple the OS?
And being that consumers are being given a choice between the two, at the same price.. what do you think Joe "EU" Sixpac will pick?

It just goes and hides from the person... hhahaha
The more annoying the alarm clock, the eaiser they tend to... mysteriously break...
I reckon this here alarm clock would mysteriously shatter into many pieces after one to many attempts to try and hit the snooze button again

Geeze, slashdot.. get a grip

Testing slashdot banned me for a month for the comment before this :P hahaha check it out whole thread was nuked :P weird
Look, if the previous comments doesn't make sense to you-
When I made it, slashdot was missing all the green borders and all the hyperlinks were a bright blue.
Imagine it.
Now you can agree with me.
Or does slashdot look like shit?
