talking about mame also gets people interested in the preservation aspects of retrogaming:) there's a lot of games supported by mame that will never be released again, so it's nice to have around just to document all the different types of games that have come out over the years. i think mame has done a lot more good than harm, myself.
yeah i don't make a living playing music. i play music for the same reason i draw (or anyone creates for that matter). Most people don't say "well i'll just download the riaa stuff." they say "well i'll just download the music." for the musicians who actually get a cd pressed, it just ends up hurting them. i support the artists that i like (none of which are with the riaa), but i know there's a lot of people that won't even do that. if it's up on the net, it's free to download:\
the music that i buy isn't put out by the riaa (all independant stuff), so i don't have any problems with drm. in the end it's all about the money. i'm glad they lost the appeal, but i'm afraid people will see this as a go ahead to pirate whatever they want...music, movies, programs, etc...
i'm not saying what the riaa is doing is right, but if you're downloading music you're taking a product for free that you can also buy in the stores. if i have a cd out in stores, but everyone just downloads the music for free, how am i supposed to support myself in order to continue creating music?
great:) now all people have to do is STOP STEALING MUSIC. it's not that hard, and there's plenty of alternatives now. no excuses left to download music illegally.
i thought we weren't linking to zdnet anymore. ah well. don't really think the linux market is big enough to support a specialized keyboard either. sure it's nice, but how many people that use linux are going to shell out the dough for a new keyboard. i would think the majority of linux users are just running servers anyway, and really don't need a new keyboard with special functions on it...
musicians don't want a reasonable living; they want to be successful. guess who helps with that? the record companies. most of the ones that deserve to be really successful never get heard by enough people, though...
yep. enough said right there, i suppose. even if they aren't true sequels....course the innovative japanese games don't really do so well in the US anyway...
i don't understand why people think ninteno is going to die. they own the handheld market and they're making a profit. i bought a gamecube just to play the gba games on the gba player, and it was a much better purchase than my xbox. this is coming from someone who has been dogging nintendo since the n64 debacle. once you give the games a chance, it becomes clear why nintendo isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
nope, no one cares. next story!

a great place to start to see what the preservation of arcade games is all about. open source also

if you download something that you did not pay for (but must be bought in order to aquire it legally), how is it not stealing?

Quake 2 didn't require hardware acceleration; it had a software renderer as well as a hardware renderer.
2006! Whoo-hoo!
my thinking exactly.
the games are made in japan :) you can always import if you want the special stuff :)

yeah. this is a really good time to own multiple sytems. lots of games and genres to choose from.
there's so many good games coming out in the fall and winter!
i can't wait for this game to come out. hopefully it'll push rockstar to innovate even more in gta in order to compete!
