none of the journalists have pointed out that such a law will give incentive for the cops to "suspect" and arrest all ethnic minorities as soon as a violent crime is committed.
Maybe the journalists weren't able to see your logic for the same reason that I am not. Why would a law allowing DNA collection single out ethnic minorities over any other class of people?
but why would inserting the word "medically" in front of "private data" make it more important?
Because currently medical private data is much more well protected than regular old private data. I'm not saying that is the way it should be, but that is the case, so in order to make yourself heard, you have to complain that they are violating your medical privacy, because nobody cares about your regular privacy.
How long before school boards decide to start swabbing all children "for their own safety"?
Last week, wasn't it? Oh, no wait, that was scanning irises.
I don't see the difference between this and finger printing. If you are going to do either and the person is not found guilty that stuff should all be tossed out.
I don't either. And since collecting DNA is a serious misappropriation, so then also is collecting fingerprints.
But child pornography, in most instances is not depicting sex with children, but sex with underage minors, for instance, a 17 year old, or someone who looks like they are 17.
Yes, people who want to have sex with children is wrong, but the law is expanded far beyond this and people get crazy with the CP label because the law is far too wide. Just like peeing in your back yard can get you slapped with a "sexual offender" label for life, so can publicizing photos of your 25 year old girlfriend who looks 17 get you labeled as a CP distributor.
This is why I don't jump off the deep end and call this guy a monster. For all we know the CP he enjoys looking at is 20 year old women that look young. I sure wouldn't fault him for that. If it is photos of kids, then I agree, he is one sick bastard. But we don't know that, because the law is too broad, so why assume? it just gets you worked up. If you were a juror, that is exactly what they would be going for, too.
FBI got into one of the drives (how is irrelevent). They found kiddie porn.
I'm just wondering, do they video tape or have multiple witnesses or some other means of proving that they really found this evidence as opposed to placed it? With bits on a disk, it becomes much more of a possibility that someone could just do that without it being obvious that they had done so.
This is a pedophile. A child molester (potential or otherwise). A rapist. In cases like this it is better to err on the side of caution than to ruin a life. I wish we allowed parents to sue the state for children that were molested when they government knew that he was a sick fuck. Maybe then we wouldn't have to coddle this social cancer so much.
So we are going to lock people up for what they can potentially do now? Well, you first. See you when you get out.
If you have evidence that he raped somebody, as you so clearly do, then you are aiding and abetting a known criminal and deserve to go to jail.
Pedophiles are animals, and don't deserve rights. Rights are for people, not monsters. If I had a pedophile in a room by myself and some one told me I had an hour I would literally put on some latex gloves, shove a huge tube down their pee hole and cut around it, then I would take a hot iron and burn the remaining portion to leave them dick-less but still able to piss out of the "straw."
It disgust me that this judge was going to let him off in the first place. Fuck pedos and fuck their stupid shit. They're all scum and I want them to all die in a bloody typhoon of death.
Careful, in some states, you may be considered a pedophile.
Well the legal definition specifies "lascivious" media rather than some laundry list of people, poses and acts. I suspect there's Kim Possible and My Little Pony erotic fan-art posted on Tumblr and Deviantart that meets the technical criteria for child pornography every day.
Yes, that is true. Child Pornography is a scare word to make jurors convict. In reality, the legal definition of child pornography, while varying by location, may constitute such things as:
Nude pictures or movies of a 1 year old
Depictions of sex or nudity of a 17.999999 year old even if they look 25 years old.
Depictions of sex or nudity where someone holds the opinion that they look less than 18 years old even if they are 25 years old.
Pictures or movies depicting sex with a greater than 18 year old who is dressed in schoolgirl outfit or wearing pigtails in an attempt to look like a less than 18 year old even if it is still obvious that they are 25 years old or even older.
Pictures or movies depicting sex with 30 to 40 year old women filed under the heading "Teen Sex".
Pictures or movies of cartoons depicting nudity or sex of characters whom someone holds the opinion that the character looks less old than a real life18 year old.
Nude or partially unclothed photos taken of themselves by owners of a phone who are less than 18, or appear to be less than 18 or who are trying to appear to be less than 18.
We know one thing for sure, and that is that the government has admitted to the crime of having over 700,000 images of child pornography and having viewed same.
Some experts hold that mammoths were hunted to extinction beginning some 10,000 years ago by the species that was to become the planet's dominant predator -- humans.
Others argue that climate change was more to blame, leaving a species adapted for frigid climes ill-equipped to cope with a warming world.
Al Gore theorizes that it was climate change brought about by humans.
After you clone it, is it an endangered species?
If you successfully clone something as complicated as a mammoth, then I think anything that we have preserved genetic material for is no longer endangered. We can make as many of them as we want.
Americans don't realize that if they raised their animals well that raw meat would be pretty safe.
Oh, I think we realize that. What we also realize is that if we serve undercooked meat to our customers and they happen to get sick from that or anything else, they will sue us and win. Better to be safe than sorry, even if it destroys the taste. This is why we can't have nice things.
to be fair a "good" beer is best served slightly above room temperature.
Above room temperature? Seriously? What temperature is your room? I can't stand drinking ANYTHING, be it beer or otherwise that is at or above room temperature unless it is intended to be served well above the temperature of any room that I have ever been in .
The question is how do you accurately value a company with an unproven business model and no clear profit lines? Also considering that this company has had a whole legion of predecessors who had the same idea, but failed for one reason or another to become profitable or sustainable.
Take all the subscribers, assume 20% growth in subscribers per year, factor in for interest, compounded continuously. Then take the resultant number and multiply by zero.
Yes, unfortunately the "classic view" that they will let you use is the current version, not the version before this one, which happens to be the one that I want to use.
Sometimes... but rarely. Usually (not always) if it is that bad it won't be accepted in the first place. Software is the only system that gets better with time and use. Rewriting from scratch (as opposed to an intelligent refactor) totally negates that, not to mention flushed a companies investment in developing it right down the toilet (not that I really care about that).
It happens quite frequently where i work that lazy ex-developers will code exactly to the specification given, hardcoding bits of information that should be a configuration option or a lookup, tying it so completely to the present implementation that to add another customer onto the product requires completely changing the code. I have rewritten dozens of applications at my company because the applications were so strictly hardcoded to certain situations that the original developers couldn't figure out how to make them work more globally. Plus they had the whole stinking program inside a giant try catch block, there was no checking of database return codes to find out if a deadlock or timeout could be retried, not transactional integrity, so files could en up halfway loaded into the system. A complete and utter mess. But I'm sure other companies don't have this problem.
its possible the seller in that case did drop the price 2.5% and still got stuck paying their agent the 5%!)
That is probably correct. Although in my common experience in several U.S. states, it is usually 6%.
For a $30,000 referral bonus, though I would probably just stop doing my job and start recruiting people. On top of my salary, getting two people hired should be enough to cover the lack of raises for the past 7 years plus a little extra spending money to maybe take a vacation.
They said how to say "computer" in Navajo, but not how to say "droid". They only explained that R2D2 would be a concept along the lines of "metal thing on wheels that is alive".
Or they could have just called it R2D2. One doesn't generally translate names into a description, but into a translated name, or if none is available, then the closest phonetic match.

Surely no one could object to eating a cow!
A cow as in a female whale? Sure they would.
It actually works for people who don't use a junk OS.
I'm sure it does, but we are referring to Windows 8.
No. Besides, she looks like she's 17, not 7.

The police probably have good reason to want access to all the material.
Yes, there may be some stuff in there that they don't have.
I have a 25 year old girlfriend that looks pretty young.
