Stop destroying slashdot. Stop dumbing it down. Stop "simplifying" it. You want to improve it?! Let us comment on stories longer and make the search functionality ACTUALLY WORK. I'm so pissed off about this I'm not even cogent. I just "fixed" the previous "update." Now I'll have to Google that setting again. Whoever advised this is not your friend, they are trying to eliminate a news source. I'm so disappointed in you all.

Defending the matrix sequels follows, why am I doing this: That's what I thought too. They were still in the matrix. How else could Smith move from one to the other? HE'S A FUCKING COMPUTER PROGRAM.
Yea but since Neo can see into the Matrix maybe the outside Smith is some other robot but Neo just knows that it's Smith.

And it only makes sense. The mystery guy they refer to in the first Matrix who "freed the first of us" and could "reshape the matrix to how he wished". Remember him? When he freed the first of the resistance fighters, who was piloting a ship to catch them and keep them from drowning??? You've got a chicken-and-the-egg problem there. I thought it was a given that they were still in the matrix.

Maybe he realized he was in the Matrix and worked out his real muscles so he could swim genius! That's also quite consistent with Buddhism, the Matrix movies make a lot more sense if you fill in blanks with... aw who am I kidding they don't make sense.

My third movie would have had Neo be the first guy to figure that out - the "outside world" is still the matrix. The matrix does nothing but generate realities to keep you from questioning where you are. And the reason why the matrix is doing this? What's the point?
Well that'd be cool. Maybe it was an anti progress message much like the whole machines taking over thing, why must we move forward. Are we sure we're headed in the right direction? Things seem to be moving faster... I mean Buddhism's all about the joy of passivity, non thinking, non action. Maybe humanity will eventually confront the nature of life and be destroyed.

My idea for a sequel had nano- techn (called Midiclorians) and elves and a dragons!

This level of information about people isn't necessary. The improvement of direct advertising is so huge it would still be ginormous without using confidential information. Yes it's a terrifying prospect but Google can't devote effort to reassuring everyone without becoming that little bit of spin-doctor evil.

What they need is for people to really love being at the campus and buy into the uber geek element of their info lunches. It's cool that you can do something that amazing at lunch but if you look at is a corporate training and brainstorming it seems a little dull, hopefully the "geeks learn for fun" thing will keep the Google team ticking and cohesive.

It's those guys who spend all day negotiating with law enforcement and other corporations who will want to take Google into dangerous waters to be more "attractive." As long as Googlers remember how destitute corporate America is and that they have "The new shizzle" when it comes to advertising they shouldn't have any problems, they don't need to bend to anyone.

This is stupid, the issue is can we produce the things we need without working 10+ hours a day. Since the industrial revolution the answer has been a resounding yes. Now American's pay for a free market economy by working 8 hours a day until they are 70. Communists pay in other ways. The Amount people produce X and the amount people consume (Hey why not) Also X are the same amount, waste, profit generation, interest payments (for a business often 25%+), executive salaries, the "I dun invented this" payoff, bribery, interest group donations, change the system. But it sounds like you'd just say, that's economics because the right says it is and always will be and the last time we considered changing it we killed people to keep it that way (Yay McCarthyism)!

Meanwhile the idiots on the right (If you're not making 200,000+ and doing something honest you are one!) totally believe that it's fine to get screwed if they get a tax break with it, not realizing that since they make up 80% of the population them receiving a tax break is basically just inflation and won't produce any actual improvement in the standard of living, meanwhile they won't embrace any actual improvement because Big Government is Bad/Our leaders are crooks. Meanwhile the right wing leadership IS CROOKS and keeps telling them that the other party is selling pipe dreams. Don't get me wrong I think that it's fine to have a couple billionaires around, I appreciate the fact that 99.999% of their income isn't needed for cost of living. I just also appreciate that money = time and those billions are basically hundreds of slaves held in their basement, I hope they don't spend the money to torpedo their opposition or on vain projects to serve themselves.
