Canadians aren't particularly worried about American invasion, 1 we're increadibly useful to you. This is something Americans have never figured out, if you are useful and helpful people won't want to attack you. They won't smash planes through your economic infrastucture, burn your flag, attack your embassies and military bases.

  4. Why? on Game Developers Unionize? · · Score: 2, Insightful

I'm a huge fan of unionizing in many areas but this doesn't seem like one of them.

The young artists releasing their first game from their basement and moving on to become their own boss seems much more plausible.

Trying to start a game company becomes much more difficult when you have to hire unionized labour instead of going directly online and searching for people with common interest.

Once you get artists moving from title to title non-stop with no care about the product yea you'll need unions and publishers but I'd rather not see the "industry" go that direction.

Even windows doesn't have sharing on by default... Allowing users to sit behind your firewall isn't a huge deal, there are tonnes of users sharing their windows dir on Kazaa or whatever if someone wanted to be malicious they should.

Nvidia 5800 fudging was ugly but if the 9700 had hit while the GeForce 3 was still shipping we would all have been screaming fudging murder.

Pentium M is a unique and badass architechture, but it lends itself to benchmark fudging too, for example most of those systems clock down when not plugged directly into a wall and lower screen lumens.
