  1. Re:Hold On Now! on Electronic Burglary in the Senate · · Score: 1

Somebody mod the parent up! This is a very important point that is being largely ignored in all these threads. These are the same people who are pushing the "Patriot Act". They promise the law will only be used for criminal investigations, and yet they can't resist the urge to use illegal means to get a political leg up. If we trust politicians to "protect" us using tools like the Patriot Act then we are fools.

You can bet that when the web admin for Disney calls Microsoft he isn't immediately asked for his credit card number. Hell, he probably walks over to the next office where their on-site Microsoft tech is parked.

IIRC you are quite incorrect. Microsoft tried to trademark "Windows" and was turned down. The name of their operating system is "Microsoft Windows". That's why their case failed in this country. There may be other standards in those two European countries.

There's nothing more amusing than a Marxist dinosaur thinking of new ways to "eat the rich". If you take off your beatnik glasses and read the article you'll see that the tax is to discourage the use of oil, not raise revenue. And for future reference, consuption taxes are inherently fair. Only the twisted, fossilized logic of Marx can equate progressive with fair.
