It seems to me that Ruby & Rails would be a good alternative for php or perl which lack a good MVC framework. Rails will definatly save time when compared against these languages because MVC is key for large complex web-apps. However the example was very very simple and I am at this point not convinced that a Ruby app will have more extensibility and sustainability than a well written J2ee app.
That they have created automatic mappings between objects and a relational database is nothing that shows Ruby to be superior. This feat can be done with java just as easily. That they do mappings automatically actually makes me hesistant because it does not give you the control over your objects and database that you would have, and possibly need, using OJB or Hibernate.
The time savings show in the demo are only realized when doing the most simple things. As soon as you wish to customize your views, which will definatly happen to pretty it up, you have just as much work as in other langauges.
one day my friend's mom brought home a unicycle. I couldn't even get both feet on it without falling flat on my face. Now i have something that does all the balancing for me!
"It will be done with gene splicing, the gene that encodes the THC production in MJ will be inserted into another organism which will then produce THC in it's own cells."
I'm sure we won't have a problem finding human test subjects who want a perma-high.
The power led for my case is so powerful it lights up the entire room. I thought it was so cool till I shut of the lights and realized I couldn't sleep. Looking directly at the led is dangerous enough, but to top it off the reflection from my closet mirror aims directly at my bed. Torn by the desire to get both sleep and leave my computer running at all times I modded my case with a piece of electrical tape and finally fell asleep.
I would be pushing for my full albums to be purchased. Quite a few artists have it this way.
Because only a few of thier songs were selling.
virtual albums of 3 or 4 songs for $4 each
chances are you wouldn't get all the good songs from an album in the same virtual album. The good songs would be used as the selling point for the crappy ones, this is what they do for a full album only on a smaller scale. To get all the good songs you would still be forced to buy the whole album. I think the solution is for artists to make better music.
The artists I work for that have major label deals all make between $1 and $2 and album.
You're making the mistake of assuming people are going to buy the whole album. Most artists can't and don't make an entire album worth buying. With services like iTunes available, artists are often only making money per song.
RIAA: "see little timmy, instead of eating big juicy sirloin steaks like me, I've robbe.. err um I mean P2P has robbed my artists so they only get the moldy bread they found in the dumpster. Look how hungry they are!"
Then maybe after the game they should hand out subliminally enhanced CD samplers and tickets to thier Full-length Motion picture, with accompanying video game, depicting "little timmy" valiantly fighting off the terrible hordes of evil filesharers!
The problem with throttling P2P is that there are many different programs that they all use different ports, and in some cases the ports are chosen by the user. Throttling would have to be all ports or none.
Personally i throttle my own P2P apps, i share a connection with 2 roommates and the routers & cable modem are behind someone elses potentially locked door.
The Bugatti Veyron has 1001hp, all-wheel drive, and is street legal! 0-185 in around 14 seconds (0-60 is around 2.2 seconds) top spead of only 248 MPH because it has electronic speed-limiting to prevent tire damage. this thing will smoke any other street legal car
though we are talking about bill gates, he'll probably just get one of these too
I can use my mobile phone near my computer and it doesn't lock up and vice versa
I never see problems with my sprint phone but when I use my nextel phone (so old i couldnt even find a link to the model) near my computer lots of static appears on one of the monitors (the older one of course). Neither device "locks up" and static is a temporary problem but a plane crashing into the ground is a little more permanent.
Besides the electronic problems the phone causes it also makes me wonder about the lump on the side of my head

There is probably a college student dumb enough to get the tattoo.
They better post a picture.

to test this theory the next space shuttle will jettison several microwaves in a tight cluster towards earth.

my eyesight is bad enough as it is, the last thing I need are electronics short-circuiting in my eyeball.

as a safety precaution as soon as I'm done with this post I will smash my network card, router, and cable modem.
Goodbye Internet I am now safe from you.

I remember seeing this as well. It had one slight flaw: The laser had a tendency to burn a hole through the disc.

I want more laws. I'm moving to Cali just so I can supplement my IT income with spam lawsuits!
If businesses *cough*SCO,RIAA*COUGH* can include lawsuits as part of thier business plan I can too!
Sounds good as long as I can add filters so my junk mail doesn't get turned into spam.
I've posted it on my site. Please, be gentle.

Incredible, really. I could store the Library of Congress in the LCD pixels represented by this: .
More importantly, how much porn is that. And most important, when i view said porn will it be larger this: .
