I guess "you" missed the point of my post AND the point religious groups effectively got across, huh? You evidently feel it's okay to expand the amount of adult sites on the net while making it even more cumbersome for others to exercise "their" choice not to see adult content. You are all for "choice", as long as it's "your" choice and not the choice of christians, jews, and muslims...in essence, "Fuck them...they're just closed-minded idiots." They currently have no truly "effective" means to filter that content from their systems (which is "their" choice, not yours.) If the .XXX TLD were established, and transfer from .COM to .XXX were "mandatory", not a single website operator would go out of business. However, weigh that against allowing others to exercise their "choice" to block it from their own systems" and it becomes religious zealotry. What a sad person you are... The veto of the .xxx TLD was a great thing. Deal with it.

  19. Re:who's complaining? on Behind the Fight to Control the Internet · · Score: -1

Explain why blocking the implementation of the .XXX TLD is such a bad thing? Its whole purpose was to allow for MORE adult sites which can ALREADY be registered under EXISTING TLDs like .COM.

It did NOTHING AT ALL to congregate adult sites under .XXX and segregate them from .COM.

Having a TLD reserved for adult content is no different than having channels on your cable channel dedicated to adult material. Parents already excercise their right to block unwanted content by locking those channels out or simply not receiving them.

All the so-called "religious right" wants is the ability to exercise their ability to block adult content from their children by blocking the .XXX TLD.

The .XXX TLD did not afford them that right so WHY support something that does not work?

BTW, I'm not a member of the religious right. Haven't even been to church in years, nor do I feel the need to go anytime soon. Just pointing out that a stupid TLD implementation such as .XXX should be opposed on grounds of common sense, not morality.

Your reasoning is, at best, badly flawed and nonsensical in nature. What you fail to realize is that the implementation of a "logical" and well thought out .XXX TLD benefits not just the religious right, but ALL religions who do not want to receive adult-themed material. Islam, Judaism, and Christianity would ALL benefit from a well-implemented .XXX TLD, not this nonsensical version that was thankfully shot down.

As for your comment about the internet not being an international nature without the cooperation of all parties involved, you hit the nail on the head. COOPERATION. You want a .XXX TLD? Come up with a logical way to accomodate Jews, Muslims, and Christians at the same time and I'm sure you'll see FULL cooperation from America in implementing that .XXX TLD.

Your comment concerning power and temperatures is complete rubbish. The TWO main shortfalls of this chip is its POWER consumption and HIGHER temperatures. As in, it uses more power and makes more heat. As in it costs more to power it and costs more to cool it. In a server environment, heat generation and power consumption are quite important performance measurements. This chip's performance in those two areas just doesn't cut it. I'm not the least bit interested in upgrading the entire infrastructure of our data center to support a slower chip that uses more power and makes more heat.
