In Cory Doctorow's novel Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom there is no more death thanks to technology. It's been a while since I read it but I remember it being very good (free download).

Doctorow is also the mad man behind boing boing.

As I was watching the video and later as I read though the comments I was also thinking about paintball. I think the best way to bring either a FPS video game or Paintball to TV/Video would be from more of a storytelling standpoint. Switching only between an overhead view and the first person view of one player. Then have that player describe strategy via the overhead shots and action via the first person view. I don't know if it'll ever work on TV but I hope it does.

OK, we get it. You hate George Bush. When I click on "Read More..." I had hoped to see discussion about returning to the moon. However, 90% of the posts are off topic (arguably) and redundant (definitely) about politics. The topic was not about the effect on the national budget of going to the moon, or the job Bush is doing in office. How about a compromise where you post on-topic and just end with something like BTWIRRRHGWBFMOVSR (BTW I really really really hate GWB for my own very specific reasons). Or go start your own Demdot ~Politics for Nerds. Democrats that matter. Have a nice day.
The Tapwave has more games that will be available than the article makes it sound. I would really like one, but the price needs to come down by about $100 for me to buy one. I would consider it an upgrade/replacement for my current Palm that can also play good games and act as an MP3 player (I don't currently have). It looks like something that I would actually use on a daily basis. Like the N-Gage was supposed to be, but is not.
Through the first two paragraphs I'm thinking -1 flaimbait. Then I get to hooks up to a bagel? Or your cat?
And I'm thinking +1 funny. I'm not willing to risk the Disagree metamoderate so I'll let someone else make the call. Just out of curiosity, were you being sarcastic/jerk or sarcastic/funny?
I think that I will enjoy MGS2 more the second time through knowing that the story line is all messed up. The gameplay is great and now that I've taken six months off I think I'm ready to give it another go. One thing I don't like is that the only other Metal Gear game I've played is the first. So I'm a little lost as far as Who is Liquid and the other references to earlier games. All in all, great game though, I'm ready for the next one.
to get me to buy a GBA. Super Mario 3 was my favorite Mario game. I've been wanting a portable game system for a while (still have the original blocky 4 AA battery GB), but I'm holding out to see what the Sony PSP looks like. It had better not be a dog, because I think Nintendo is doing a lot right with the GameBoy. This Mario game included.
This makes the GBA almost cool enough to buy. I've wanted a new hand-held game unit for a while. The last one I owned was the original extra-bulky GameBoy. I'm glad I've passed on most that came up since. The only thing holding me back is hearing here about the sony handheld.
I never minded naming my player in the "good old days" (Baseball Stars). You can either name them after the real team yourself or whatever group you like. Star Trek, Star Wars, any other geeky obsession.
As soon as I read the headline I thought "Well, we can count on double the junk mail and triple the spam". When junk mail has a postage paid return envelope, I like to drop it in the mail with nothing in it as long as it doesn't identify me at all. Gives the post office something to do while I send E-mail and pay my bills online.
I like the idea of removable or disposable drives. Any time they put a HDD in something it makes me nervous, I think crashing, corruption, virus. Imangine what you could do with a camcorder virus.
The handheld article seemed a bit one-sided to me. I think that it's the cell phones that Nintendo needs to worry about the most. So many people (kids included) already carry a cell phone 24/7, why not use it for gaming too? Cell phones also have the multi-player advantage. With airtime getting cheaper (slowly) multi-player games over the cell should become more common. As long as it won't eat the batteries or wear down the phone, why not. At home it's PS2 all the way.
