    As if mixing up metric and english conversion is not bad enough, NASA has found a new way possibly mess up a Mars trip. The potential for collision is probably miniscule, but with trying to achieve optimal paths the chance always is there for a collision with each other or with the EU attempt. In either event it would be a significant gaff.

    I'm waiting for Soldier CAM where you can adopt a soldier and watch the action from his/her perspective from the comfort of your home. Of course it would probably be 99.999% boredom, followed by 0.001% action that you miss when you get up to get a beer.

    I can't see any value at which a corporation couldn't afford $1 per copyright. Perhaps if it was $10,000/copyright or renewal was required every year (after the first 20 or so). In my opinion the only solution is to reduce the copyright length significantly.

    ... And companies like GM cut back on buying pencils, notepads to save pennies here and there that add up to millions. Any good corporate would quickly point out that articles written for trade journals, or any other publicly distributed material contains content that would not be worth the $1.00. I've been in corporate america long enough to see witchhunts (not in GM in the case) to get one employee or a small group to save 5-10 dollars a week or a month.

    Cost cutting measures will take hold at some point and the dollar won't get spent to update the copyright, in same cases even where the cost was justified.

    Government making laws on content, which is the realm of censorship and free speech, is a whole lot different than for laws on where that content is sent, which crosses the line into rights to privacy and property ownership.

    I'll support the right to post any content you want for all to see, but to send it to anyone using their bandwidth is something different.

    ... AND we could have had two damaged shuttles in the air at one time because at the time we didn't have a clue as to what went wrong with the first one.


    Though, the risk taker in me says we should've tried it if we had time to make a rescue attempt.

    I'm also on board with the group that says, lets make improvements and move forward. I wish they had made the decision to take long range pictures, even if they couldn't have saved the Columbia. That information could've provided the needed piece to save future shuttle crews. Though it would've torn up the American public to know we had a shuttle that was lost before the fact.

    I pretty much agree with your statement, but I also think bulk mailers get good rates because that means a steady stream of income to, in that case the government. With email it will mean a steady stream on income to the government too, either directly or through taxes. As long as money is involved there is the potential that the heavy hitters will get preferential treatment. In the case of email, this could mean spammers as well as many well meaning advertisers.

    This might be a workable idea until the the geniuses in Washington get their hands on it and provide their own "value-adds". Remember this is the same group the provides for private citizens to send snail mail at 37 cents a pop, but bulk mailers get a reduced rate.

    Just remember which of these two groups will have lobbyists representing them when these decisions are made.

    Other than the evil of the bureaucrats altering the idea beyond recognition (FUBAR again), the idea has its merits.

    Not so easy if the money goes back to a single corporation and that becomes the target of prosecution instead of a plethora of false email corporations. The cost of supporting a bunch of "real" corporations should offset the revenue they generate making them self destruct.

    But, I agree to the extent that a lot of creative loopholes will be explored.

    e-voting that takes place in other than an official polling place with be a magnet for abuse.

    You will have a lot of representatives from the DNC visiting nursing homes to help people that don't get to the polls to vote for the "right" candidate.

    Not that this doesn't happen with absentee voting already, but the abuse will increase, and the weak minded will have loads of help in casting their votes.

    Of course the comparison between Men and Women in this case assumes that Women would continue to use constantly larger desk tops then Men.

    This is comparable to saying that Women are in less fatal car accidents when they consistently use SUV's that are 25% larger than Men's SUVs.

    The advantage is illusory as Men would also adopt the larger desktop and gain back any advantage that they have. Sounds like a marketing ploy to sell the latest, and greatest products.
